Re: (mobility) OT viva free speech!!!!!!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2001 06:23:45 -0700 (PDT) From: DJ Paul Simpson <techno_gpig@yahoo.com> Subject: (mobility) sifl and olly are suing moby haha, not really. but you remember a while ago someone here posted that they heard "trucks and cars" by S&O and said that they used the same breakbeat that moby uses in "south side"? well, theres an S&O fan who did a huuuuuge analysis on this. you can find it on www.sifl-n-olly.net click on either sifl or olly clik on where it says ARTICLE when it mentions this story click on the bottom link where it says "the truth about that song stealing bastard, moby!" theres fucking sound clips and everything. haha. now OBVIOUSLY, these silly S&O fans know nothing about breakbeats and sampling and actually making electronic music. i have heard this same beat in several other songs (mostly acid jazz type songs) i don't know where it came from, but since i've heard it in this many songs, it's obviously just some run-of-the-mill public domain beat. there's probably tons of underground, unheard-of hip hop tracks that use the same beat. there's tons of beats like this. its just that... most S&O fans, as cool as they may be, aren't DJ's or producers themselves, so they wouldn't know about this stuff, right? nevertheless, it is kinda entertaining.
