Interesting view about Nader being paid by the republicans...but do you
really believe that is true? Nader strikes me as the first sincere politician
in decades, and your accusation about him being corrupt seems to be a bit off
the mark. Secondly, he did not run to "mess things up." He ran in order to
garner support for his party and his cause.

Ken,
Instead of viciously attacking Moby, why don't you explain why you disagree
with him and leave it at that? That was overly harsh. I'm sure it won't help
you convince anybody to listen to your viewpoint.
I wish Moby would talk more about issues that he cares he cares about
instead of election math. I think his anger is misdirected, and I think he
should have been using it to convince Bush voters (48%) and apathetic or
cynical non-voters, who comprise around 50% of the eligible citizens. The
fact that Nader is far more progressive than Gore on issues like the
environment, education, and poverty makes me feel like Moby should be
interested in what Nader's stances are. Instead, he is treating Nader as a
threat to his chosen candidate and trying to fight Nader with numbers
instead of issues. Why he is doing it actively AFTER election day I have no
idea.
Steve

Subject: (mobility) Re: mobility-digest V3 #383
I think the whole Nader vs. Gore thing is being analyzed completely the
wrong way. It's being treated as if there are two political positions:
conservative and liberal, and that Nader is just being a bad boy and sucking
up votes from another more deserving (or at least better funded) liberal
candidate. It doesn't work like that at all. Nader, and his party (as well
as myself to some extent), believe that the two parties are essentially the
same. Even if you see the two parties as completely different, in a two
party system, we're just taking one step forward and one step back every
time the party of the president toggles. Our net change is zero. I'm sure
if it really came down to a choice he would rather Gore be elected, but he
doesn't see Gore as at all simmilar to himself. If you look at his
politics, he isn't. So, why should he sacrifice a chance to really promote
his party by getting the 5% popular vote just to help some guy who an
ignorant public has labled as simmilarly liberal? Of course he shouldn't.
In the long run, a viable third party will help this country FAR more than
four years of one man who is slightly less bad than another.

Dear Steve and Other Moby Fans,
I apologize for being a little mindless myself in my criticism of Moby's
statements. Guess I stooped to his level in my e-mail this morning. Thank
you Steve for keeping a cool head and explaining your (& my) view about
Moby's recent attacks on Nader and his celebrity supporters. I forget who it
was that responded earlier and stated that we are all entitled to our
political views. Attacking others for their political beliefs solves
nothing. I was wrong to attack Moby. But by the same argument, he should lay
off Nader, Vedder, & others. I, too, would like to hear what he stands FOR,
not against.

Finally someone puts forward a balanced viewpoint - there seem to be a lot of
political commentators on this site - another commendable attitude that Moby
puts forward on Play is related to his Christian belief of
"non-judgementalism"
Also, Geoff from Omagh - yes I am a bit closer your situation and have seen
what havoc politicians/political extremists can wreak. Would just like to

How appreciative we must be that any time any "crap" is spoke about,
the "alternative" list to this one that you happen to own is advertised.
I hardly think that any of the topics going on are crap. Any list that
I would get booted off of, just for disagreeing with someone's political
shoutouts is one I don't want to be on. Is it so wrong to disagree with
Moby, you know he isn't the next messiah, we won't be doomed to hell if
we disagree. By meaning toned down, it would be a list where everyone
praises
the artist, for he is the one that knows all and such. I always thought of
this
list to have contracting views, since the artist it is about, has many
views. If we agreed on everything, I don't think there would be a point of
a mailing list.
