Nader didn't let the Bush people use his ads. Some Bush supporters
used footage of Nader trashing Gore, and did not require any sort of
permission from Nader to do it.
As a result, the independent Republicans spent more money advertising
Nader than Nader did, and Nader can now no longer brag that he's
never had soft money promoting him.

Fortunately, He can and has denounced the ads and offered his criticisms of
the Republicans publicly. He can also point out that he was not _financed_
by soft money, which would include his involvement and consent.

The politics of dancing - Moby gets mad
WHALE, I DON'T BELIEVE IT!
MOBY has launched a bitter attack on PEARL JAM and other star supporters of
RALPH NADER, the GREEN PARTY US Presidential candidate, claiming their
endorsement of him indirectly helped edge Republican GEORGE W. BUSH towards the
White House.
"As I write this, no one knows who will be the president-elect of the United
States," said Moby. "If Bush wins, I will follow Ralph Nader to the ends of the
earth just to scream at him and pelt him with rotten tomatoes. If Nader had
withdrawn from the race, then Al Gore would be our president-elect."
According to www.launch.com, an enraged Moby added that all the stars who
endorsed Nader, including Patti Smith and Ben Harper, should "hang their heads
in shame".
Refering to Bush's anti-abortion stance and lack of commitment to environmental
issues if they come in the way of profit, he went on: "If Bush is our next
president, I hope Nader and his supporters will be happy as women start dying
of back-alley abortions, and I hope that Nader and his supporters will jump for
joy as our national parks become oil fields, and as we return to the 'good old
days' of Reagan-style national debt, and as our public schools crumble, and as
the working poor watch any dreams of prosperity just disappear as our inner
cities become the burnt out sh-t holes that they were under Reagan and poppa
Bush. And I hope that the Green Party celebrates as, under Bush, any notion of
corporate environmental responsibility flies out the window."
Pearl Jam have yet to respond to the attack. The outcome of the Presidential
race remains uncertain as a recount in the crucial State of Florida is ongoing.
Bush is officially now 1,784 votes ahead, though an unofficial count by
Associated Press has the lead at a slender 229 votes.

They quote an interview in the article, not just moby-online postings. He
said all the stars that endorsed Nader should "hang their heads in shame."
"If Bush wins, I will follow Ralph Nader to the ends of the earth just to
scream at him and pelt him with rotten tomatoes. If Nader had withdrawn from
the race, then Al Gore would be our president-elect."

"If Bush is our next president, I hope Nader and his supporters will be

responsibility flies out the window."
Wow. I think this calls for a list.
1. Abortion. Gore voted in favor of Anton Scalia and Clarence Thomas, the
two most conservative justices on the Supreme Court.
2. Environment. The Clinton-Gore Administration failed to fulfill a promise
to shut down the WTI incinerator in East Liverpool, Ohio. It burns hazardous
waste and spews toxins into the neighboring communities. Also, Gore has
permitted old-growth logging without any effort to alter the standing
policies, and he also has pushed to have nuclear energy included as a
renewable energy source which gives it Clean Fuel credits, instead of
pursuing solar, waster, and wind forms of energy that are actually renewable
and do not create radioactive waste. He also backed off on the pesticide and
dioxin standards that he gave so much lip service to. They have allowed
genetically modified food products to be sold without any form of labeling
to the public.
3. Education. Both Bush and Gore have different plans for education reform.
Why do you think Gore's is good, and Bush's bad? Your crumbling schools
comment sounds an awful lot like political catchphrase used to gain support
without actually examining the facts and figures of the actual problem.
4. Labor/working poor. Moby, The Clinton-Gore administration passed NAFTA
and launched the WTO. They took minimal action to raise the minimum wage.
They did not lift a finger to help organized labor and unions, which are at
their lowest membership in 40 years. They did nothing to repeal the
Taft-Hartley Act, which restricts the formation of new unions. (which
employees of corps like Wal-Mart and McDonald's sorely need) They abolished
welfare and called it "Reform".
Joe Lieberman has spent his career fighting to limit corporate liability,
when it should be expanded. It's because of Senators like him that taxpayer
pay for pollution cleanups instead of the perpetrating companies. It's
because of Senators like him that it is so hard for citizens to sue
insurance companies that bail out on them on technicalities and blatantly
false "preexisting condition" clauses.
So yes, Moby, you're right when you say if Bush gets elected that any notion
of corporate environmental responsibility will go out the window. But that's
all that will go, the notion, because that's all Gore and Lieberman have.
After getting our vote they'll be back to the business as usual.
They cannot run campaigns without huge bankrolls, mainly because their
competition will also have big bucks. The cannot call the corporations to
heel because they will lose their funding and hence their power. The
two-party system funded by the same corporations has locked them both into a
symbiotic relationship, and so all they can offer us are pretty promises.
Moby, you've been touring for two years. I think you've gotten all the
pretty words and few of the realities. Do some research. The Democrats are
morphing into Republicans, and they both pay heed to their backers in order
of contribution. Since funding has to come before votes, voters come in
second to funders. Albert Gore Jr. and his party are not the voice of
liberal America. They will do naught but toss us a crumb periodically.
Steve
