Since "Play" was released I've seen him 6 times here in the States, twice
in Detroit, and one time each in Saginaw, Chicago, Columbus and Toronto so
I guess we're tied for insanity :)

Subject: (mobility) Shmoozin w/BT, chatting about Moby & commercials
Happy Belated Halloween to all,
I just returned from my spooky celebration at San Francisco's Warfield where
I saw BT (w/Hooverphonic who were alright, but I couldn't understand what she
was singing). BT was great on-stage though somewhat brief & he played only 2
older songs. His bassist is - dare I say - better than Gretta & could sing
like Tori.
But that is not why I write. I had the priviledge of talking casually with
BT in a small group before his show. Moby came up in the conversation. BT
said they'd been friends for 10 years. BT spoke about how many of his
friends are in so many commercials nowadays, sometimes ridiculous ones, a
thing that BT is really trying to avoid at all cost. He'd much rather
promote himself through soundtracks, something I respect much more. Then he
mentioned how Moby recently said something to the effect of wanting to be
where BT is right now. BT answered back with wanting to be where Moby is,
selling millions of records. I mostly was just refreshed to hear an artist I
respect being as sick as I am of artists being popularized through ads.
As for being popularized through the video for "South Side" with Gwen: Moby
has made me very sad in the past, but he has finally truly broken my heart.
Moby can poke fun at himself & lame superstar glitzy videos, but in the end
he is in a lame superstar glitzy video, thanks to Gwen and all her empty
eye-candy onterage that follows her & that MTV eats up.
I'm sure they are both great people & certainly talented & smart. But if
they would rather be where somebody else is, where you're not in every other
commercial, then they should go do it. Till then, no matter how much they
ridicule what they're becoming, actions will speak louder than words.

While I see your point I would also like to point out that BT said that
he wishes he was in Moby's position. So it looks like most artists are
in a Catch-22 because they seem to never be 100% happy with where they
are at.
I wouldn't worry about it too much- Moby's music is some of the most
brilliant and beautiful stuff out there and nothing can EVER change
that fact.
I'm going to see BT tonight BTW.

Hey robbie,
Buy the Everything is Wrong-Dj mixed album as soon as you get some money.
It'll be the best twenty bucks you'll ever spend.
Also, the singles from EIW are awesome, there are a lot of good
remixes-which a lot more than i can say about anything remixed from Play.
Peace

Moby has added a few more posts to http://moby-online.com. He seems to be
expressing grave concern that Bush will be our next president. So much so,
that he's urging people to ask Ralph Nader to drop out of the election so
Gore can win.
I find it interesting that Moby's expressing his thoughts so frequently and
adamantly. He definitely is one profound fellow.

Tyler, you can't be more wrong.
Granted, the dj remixes are freaking amazing, you just can't argue with the
remixes from play. Both remixes of Porcelain on the single are good enough
to shampoo my crotch and you know it. The honey remixes are atleast
interesting and usually pretty good listening. The Natural Blues singles
waste my trash and Tyler, duh, you know you love the Mike D remix. It's
amazing. They all are. The remix list can go on too. Play is the greatest
album ever produced and the singles are all jim-dandy.
