You're right! i almost forgot about that. When i first saw a
picture of him, I thought it was a model stand-in.... like
the photos that come in portrait frames when you buy them.
That's another way he's moby's opposite/compliment.
Electronic music is usually music made by geeks, and Bt is
WAAAY too pretty to be a geek. BT... you wanna do him for
his looks. Moby... you'd wanna do for his sensuality and
animal passion (or as my friend rich said when he heard
"Memory Gospe", "This is Fuck Music!").

why does the electronic music world consider born slippy to be such a good

They don't - most have never heard it. The track you're referring
to is .NUXX which appeared on the Born Slippy EP and was re-released
and re-named as Born Slippy .NUXX

Not as good as Pearl's Girl.

Their best album, in my humble opinion, is DUBNOBASSWITHMYHEADMAN.
Songs like "Skyscraper, i love you", and "Dark and Long" have the syzygy of
echoy (is that a word?) lonliness, and hopefull yearning that i think
epitomizes their music.
So that album is my favorite Underworld song.
Jumbo's good too, though.

As i got recently the elektra compilation Songs 93-98, i was wondering why
the James Bond Theme didn't make an appearance on it ? Isn't it Moby's 2nd
major hit after Go before the release of Play ? The (principal) reason why
they released the compilation "I Like to Score" ?
I guess it's because it's only a re-version but if that's the case, it's
quite a shame because his version of the theme is definitely brilliant (and
also the final track that convinced me to collect Moby three years ago but
that is another story ... :) )

Subject: (mobility) Random Thoughts
Some random thoughts.
Though the idea of Kelis redoing Honey is nice...after listening, it just
doesn't work. I am dissapointed.
Moby is pop...ular. His music has not been crafted into music which aims to
be pop, Top 40 music. If you told me in June of 99 that Run On would have a
music video I would never have believed you.
According to Twec.com - Play B-Sides out 11/7.
If you don't have Hybrid's new US CD Wide Angle get it now. It has just been
recalled for some odd reason which escapes me right now. I don't know when
it will be back out but if you see a copy snatch it up.
BT and Moby are very different. They are only comparable because they are
both electronic music stars from the US. BT, Brian Transeau if from Maryland
btw. He was first known for his amazing epic house productions but has
varied his sound of late. He wanted to branch out and evolve musically. He
has experimented with nu school break beats and even alternative rock. The
US release of Movements in Still Life is rather poor. It neglects many
wonderful tracks which are on imports such as Ride, Hip Hop Phenomenon,
Giving up the Ghost, and more. Find it and buy it, ditch the US copy.
BT is trying to be the next Moby in the live sense. It'll probably take him
a while to get it right.

From HybridUK@egroups.com:
"Looks the legendary scumbag Ricardo Vinas, of Thrive Records here in
the states, has struck again. After flushing three labels down the toilet with
his treachery (Moonshine [first incarnation], Planet Earth, and Thrive
[apparently now operating again]) and double-crossing everyone
unfortunate enough to do business with him (a rather long list including
Oakenfold), this piece of shit just filed an injunction stopping all shipments
of "Wide Angle," Hybrid's full-length album from being delivered. He does
this with a carefully timed lawsuit -- filed on the album's release date.
"Beware of this cancer on the face of electronic music. He's a smooth
talker and it always amazes me that returns time after time to fuck up
someone else's career. I just today found out that he just signed a new
deal with London/Sire!!! I'm flabbergasted!
"I don't know the details but it looks like "Wide Angle" could be tied up in
the courts for months. They almost killed him when he turned up at their
show in San Diego. Security had to escort the weasel outta the building
for his own safety. Remember the name: Ricardo Vinas. I'm sure the guys
from Hybrid wish they had never met him."
No-one knows why he keeps doing it though.

Wow - those are the best tracks on it. Why did they get rid of
them? Anyhow, the UK 2CD re-release is the best - CD2 has NGCBD,
Fibonacci Sequence and mixes of other tracks. Which is nice.

Subject: (mobility) New Honeymix played on National Danish Radio (P3)+ my questions
The new remix, with vocals by Kellis have just been played at the national
danish radio P3, they played about 3 min of it, but I couldn't hear if it
was the same version as the one featured on www.moby-online.com.
Since they could play it already, some promos must have been let out, does
anyone know the tracklist for these.
I must say that I agree with the most of you: I don't think this track is
anything special, we must set our trust to The Sun Never Stops Setting and
the new versions of Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad. But again most remixes
from Play are much weaker than the original versions especially the ones of
"Honey".
other questions:
What about Southside (with Gwen): Will this be commercial released as a
single, or will they force us poor fans to buy the re-release of play??
Where does the "black hole sun" with mimi goese come from?
What is the story of the Superfunk Remix of Natural Blues, why was it
released so late, was it originally a bootleg (it sounds like that to me).
