hello guys and gals ,
    i guess how my musical journey began was back in the '80's . i listened
to the human league , depeche mode , information society , the art of noise
, m/a/r/r/s (pump up the volume) , kraftwerk , the beastie boys , various
rap artists , etc . in the early '90s i began getting into "commercial"
dance music such as snap , black box , the klf , l.a. style , etc . then
before you know i buy profile records best of techno compilation volume one
c.d. with moby ( voodoo child ) 's voodoo child track on it . after that i
become what you might call a techno junky .  i feel lucky to have gotten to
hear moby's music because (believe it or not) there are still people who
don't know who moby even is . well just felt like sharing . adios amigos .

What do I do?  Well I get to sit in front of a computer all day long and try
to break stuff.  I am a QA Test Specialist.  That means I take computer
software and test all functions of it to make sure that it works properly
and if it doesn't I send it back to the developers to fix the problems.

Big time fan....saw him at St Andrews downtown last year and going to his
show October 12th at the State downtown. I am 33 and have been to some great

I wear more than one hat.... most of the day I'm
the Documents Editor for the Accreditation
Department at Philander Smith College, a
historically black liberal arts college in Little
Rock, AR. My job title means I sit around and
make sure we have documentation to support the
campus' policies for various accrediting
agencies. Pretty boring really.

My other "job" is more exciting. If you can call
it work. It's one of those things where you get
money for things you'd gladly do for free. In
this case, I make rock stars. Bigwig Enterprises
("Putting the 'Suck' in 'Success' since 1993")
develops and promotes underground talent and
helps to move said talent to the mainstream.
Currently, I'm set to release a cd by goth-pop
phenoms EVANESCENCE (who just signed to the same
management company that took Creed to the top).
I'll be growing that cd from regional to national
over the course of the next year. And I'm also
doing some regional radio promotion for one of my
favorite metal bands to push the release of their
new cd. But I'm doing that mainly because they're
playing some dates with Evanescence, so I want to
push them to sell more Evanescence cds. Beyond
that, Sac's own radio people at their label can
do their jobs.

I love this song and would like to perform it with the gospel choir I belong
to.

According to the Play liner notes, the vocals were recorded by the Shining
Light Gospel Choir. In an interview, Moby said the original recording was
from an Alan Lomax collection. However, after hours of combing the net, I
can find no references at all to this choir. Either this is a very obscure
recording, or the reference is wrong.

Can anyone help?

I am a Massage Therapist in St. Louis. Right now I do not do many massages
because I'm pregnant, 7 mo., and it's hard to stand on my feet for hrs.
Sssssoooo, I work at the transportation division of the city public schools.
It's just a temporary thing, it should be over in the middle of october.
I am also changing my email. I am trying to find someone, an isp, to go to
instead of using AOL. AOL sucks, but I can't find anyone that has more than 1
email address for under 20$'s. My new name will be [e-mail]. If I
can figure out how to sign that name up.

here's something i found...quite interesting!

MIT: seems to have been in use among model railroad fans
years ago. Derived from Melville's "Moby Dick" (some
say from `Moby Pickle'). Now common.)
1. adj. Large, immense, complex, impressive. "A Saturn
V rocket is a truly moby frob." "Some MIT undergrads
pulled off a moby hack at the Harvard-Yale game."
2. n. obs. The maximum address space of a machine (see
below). For a 680(234)0 or VAX or most modern 32-bit
architectures, it is 4,294,967,296 8-bit bytes (4 gigabytes).

3. A title of address (never of third-person reference),
usually used to show admiration, respect, and/or friendliness
to a competent hacker. "Greetings, moby Dave. How's that
address-book thing for the Mac going?"
4. adj. In backgammon, doubles on the dice, as in `moby
sixes', `moby ones', etc. Compare this with bignum (sense
3): double sixes are both bignums and moby sixes, but
moby ones are not bignums (the use of `moby' to describe
double ones is sarcastic). Standard emphatic forms: `Moby
foo', `moby win', `moby loss'. `Foby moo': a spoonerism
due to Richard Greenblatt. 5. The largest available unit
of something which is available in discrete increments.
Thus, ordering a "moby Coke" at the local fast-food joint
is not just a request for a large Coke, it's an explicit
request for the largest size they sell.

This term entered hackerdom with the Fabritek 256K memory
added to the MIT AI PDP-6 machine, which was considered
unimaginably huge when it was installed in the 1960s
(at a time when a more typical memory size for a timesharing
system was 72 kilobytes). Thus, a moby is classically
256K 36-bit words, the size of a PDP-6 or PDP-10 moby.
Back when address registers were narrow the term was
more generally useful, because when a computer had virtual
memory mapping, it might actually have more physical
memory attached to it than any one program could access
directly. One could then say "This computer has 6 mobies"
meaning that the ratio of physical memory to address
space is 6, without having to say specifically how much
memory there actually is. That in turn implied that the
computer could timeshare six `full-sized' programs without
having to swap programs between memory and disk.

Nowadays the low cost of processor logic means that address
spaces are usually larger than the most physical memory
you can cram onto a machine, so most systems have much
less than one theoretical `native' moby of core. Also,
more modern memory-management techniques (esp. paging)
make the `moby count' less significant. However, there
is one series of widely-used chips for which the term
could stand to be revived -- the Intel 8088 and 80286
with their incredibly brain-damaged segmented-memory
designs. On these, a `moby' would be the 1-megabyte address
span of a segment/offset pair (by coincidence, a PDP-10
moby was exactly 1 megabyte of 9-bit bytes).
