Probably only of concern to those in the UK.
Has anyone read the review in NME?
I saw the Melody Maker one and the fact that it has now turned itself into a
teeny-bopper magazine is reflected well.

Hi, everyone. Please forgive me for not being active on the newsletter for a
while--I've neither had the time nor the computer access to read all my
emails for the past few weeks. So this brings me to my point: is it true
that Moby is working with Elton John on a new project? My friend just told
me about an article in Spin magazine that indicated just this. When I heard,
I was ecstatic. Two musical geniuses working together. Imagine the fights
that will ensue between them! :) j/k.. So someone write to me and give me
all the details on this!!
neeeha,

Show was v. cool, videod it as was watching terminator II, thought Moby
came across really well and got on well with Lauran ( is that Aqua las's
name?) I will always have an image of her on drugs when I hear Barbie
girl thanks to Moby's bizare comments. Cool, but methinks Almand came
across as a total and utter twat, loved the way moby looked at him when
he was talking about only doing remixes for money. funny.

Ok so I'm assuming this is a show in the UK? Anyone want to make a
video capture of it and put it up on the Moby FTP site? Oh wait, we
don't have a site anymore huh? :`(

id agree tha the demf was a samashing sucess. there was an estimated 1.2
million people there witch is quite encourageing since detroit only has a
population of around 1 mil. the croud was extreamly diverse i even saw osm
ebums shakin their thing. overall a posative cround with the exception of a
few pompus goofy goths. :p
musicly it was just stunning the whole minus posse was in full effect. but
im a bit biased since i spent $100 on a minus new years party. cant go wrong
with richie hawtin, clark warner, and therom. mos def tore it up as well.
other acts i enjoyed : dj spooky [ mixe don two turntables while playing a
stand up bass ], mike "agent x" clark, magda, adult, the roots, derrek may,
aux-88 etc... basicly everryone.
the good news is that the demf has hart plaza for two more years and even
better hart plaza ia a city park so they cant charge admission.

Hello to all Moby-Mobility-Members (mmm...)
I've been on the list for a little while, however have not ever said hello
or anything. I have just sat here quietly and read. It's a very quiet day
at work, well no, I just decided it would be a very quiet day for me at
work. I was reading through old emails and things I have subscribed to and
then I found the introduction request on this list, so hello :)

Honestly, i hope NOT! I really do hate when he plays festivals or big
music shows put on by radio stations. I missed him the last time he was
here because i refused to go to the show put on by 107.7 because it was
not worth travelling so far to see only one act on a huge bill.
I want to see him headlining, by himself, at a relatively intimate club --
hopefully a 21+ venue. Puuullllleeeeaaaase! I'll give my first born for
it...

LoL youd give ur first born? And gosh darnitt, I agree moby needs to do some
touring on his own headlining. But not 21 n up. How about 18 and up for those
of us who are like 19 (me) or 18 or 20 ? who would be a good choice to open

I saw this in Select magazine, with a bunch of other funny things. Here's
the first web mention of this interview snippet, which Salon.com attributes
to Q magazine:
June 2, 2000 | I've heard of rubbing elbows with the stars -- even shoulders
- -- but rubbing your freely dangling schlong against the unsuspecting likes
of Dennis Rodman, Winona Ryder, Drew Barrymore, Kate Moss and Madonna? Well,
that's just sick. Moby apparently doesn't think so. He thinks it's fun.
Big-time fun. In fact, he thinks it's "the funniest thing in the world."
It's all part of a little game the techno-music master and his buddies have
perfected, called "Knob Touch." "If you're at a big celebrity party, with
two or three friends, you take your penises out of your pants and just walk
around. No one will notice, 'cause it's really crowded," Moby explains in
the upcoming issue of Britain's Q magazine. "You see how many celebrities
you can touch with your penis."
Is it, er, hard? Not at all, he says. "You just have to walk up and brush
them. It's nothing really. I've never been caught." Alert the paparazzi!
- -----------------------------
Comments anyone?
I think it's hilarious. Almost as good as that pissing in the catered sushi
bit.
- -Steve

Hello all. I'm new to the list and I thought I would
introduce myself
* Name: Scott Stoddard
* Nicknames:
rubbersharkman(I collect them and I have over 200,
check out my terrible page o pics of my collection at
www.geocities.com/rubbersharkman)
Spiritonin(the name I intend to use if I ever publish
any of my music. Moby inspires me, I'll try to get
some up on napster under the artist title spiritonin
pretty soon.)
* Age: I'm 22 born march 10th 1979 in my parents home
in silver springs maryland.
* What is in your Moby collection (or a general idea)
my collection includes the following:
cd's:
1.) moby
2.) ambient
3.) animal rights
4.) bodyrock 8 track single
5.) bring back my happiness single
6.) disk
7.) early underground
8.) everything is wrong
9.) everything is wrong dj remix 2 cd set
10.) the end of everything (voodoo child)
11.) everytime you touch me (green contest winners
single)
12.) everytime you touch me (prurple single)
13.) feeling so real (orange w/ remix parts)
14.) go the collected remixes
15.) honey remixes
16.) honey run on remixes
17.) hymn
18.) hymn alt. quiet version
19.) I like to score
20.) into the blue (red vcover)
21.) mixmag live vol.2 with sven vath
22.) move (purple single)
23.) natural blues (orange three track)
24.) natural blues remix (orange 5 track)
25.) natural blues (yellow 3 track)
26.) play
27.) rare: the collected b-sides
28.) run on
29.) run on extended
30.) why does my heart fell so bad? (3 track w/ video)
31.) why does my heart feel so bad? (6 track)
32.) why does my heart feel so bad? (3 track pink cd)
33.) platinum collection 2000 (I bought it off ebay,
is this real or an fake made up cd?)
vinyl:
1.) hymn (white and orange sleeve)
2.) hymn (silver, blue and red sleeve)
* Where you first heard Moby or how much of a fan you
are: I saw an add for his original self titled album
inside of a tape sleeve from a used techno tape I
bought. Next time I went to the used shop I found the
everything is wrong casette, and I was totally
surprised at the combination of styles and moods
through out the album as well as the rare
sophisticated feel that it posessed. Even though I
liked some songs bewtter than others, and even hated
some, I had this instant respect for the diversity and
spirtuality that moby illustrated. I even went
vegetarian for two years following my purchase of the
album. From that time on I have collected every album,
and single that I have come across. I lived in Japan
from the summer of 97 to the summer of 99, and Upon my
return I was surprised by the wonderful evolution that
was play. On the albums before that there was a
combination of loved and hated songs, but something
made me believe that moby was going to gain a
consistancy and beauty with something new ans play was
that thing. I love the album and all of his others,
especially Hymn. That song with all of it's different
mixes is a symbol to me of moby's personality and
eclectic talent. It's nice to see his talent finally
begin to be recognized as the genius that it is.
* Other artists you like: I loved messiah 21st
century jesus, but I've never seen any thing else by
the band. Utah saints and opus III were also great but
they never come out with anything. Art of noise is
fantastic, especially the debuse (sp?) album. Other
than that, I just collect random techno and odd rock.
I love music that juxtaposes the spirituality and
beauty of classical and religious music with the
energy and excitement of elctronica. the feeling it
inspires is truly my favorite musical emotion, and
moby is the king of that music.
* Any other interesting information you would like
to share: If I could spend the day with any one person
it would be moby (someday I will answer god, but I'm
not prepared for that yet.)
