Hi, I'm Emily. I'm 17, nearly 18. I first heard Moby a few years ago,
can't remember when, can't remember what exactly, but it was in my uncle's
collection. Due to lack of regular income (see age bit), I own not much of
his stuff, but rely on borrowing friends/relatives/ accquaintances music.
I am into a broad range of music, at the moment listening to a bit of
Portishead, Muse, old XTC. I live in Australia, so hopefully will get to
see Moby down here in July. And thanks for letting me in on mobility!
Also - my knowledge is limited - I'm wanting to learn stuff!

Markus Wollina (hope I spelled your name right) are you still out there?
Anyhow, I'm secretly hoping on a German Remix CD with all the trance mixes
:)
I don't understand why Mute is teasing us by not making those available for
the
masses (= only pressing it on vinyl) Not that I have anything against
vinyl, I love
to give that big black piece of wax a spin! But still... even on a SL1200
it doesn't
give quite the quality a CompactDisc does.

This may be old news (I haven't really been paying attention), but Moby was
just on (03.29.00) VH1 doing a little plug for his video Natural Blues. The
conversation then shifted to his work with Elton John on Why Does My Heart
Feel So Bad. He said that they are looking to release the collaboration
around Christmas (I am assuming it wasn't a rerun and he is referring to Xmas
2000), with the proceeds going to charity.
Anyway, that was my 2 cents
Cheers

Subject: (mobility) Moby and the campus invasion
Last night i saw Moby for the 3rd time in under a year. The first being a dj
set at a rave, the second at an intimtate club setting, the 3rd on the MTV
Campus Invasion Tour. (you can get tix at http://www.tickets.com ) Last nite,
i felt that Moby was completely out of his element and not having a good of a
time as he usually does onstage. Hardly anyone there had heard of him, and
the people behind me were booing him. Which broke my heart. My 2 friends and
i who were lucky enough to get up front started our own little cheering
section. I think he knew and he kept coming over to us and stooping to us and
sung right at us. He was very pressed for time, and couldn't interact with
the audience as much as usual. I drove 3 hours to the show and back, and
fought Bush fans for the front row on the floor (i'm bruised today) and i saw
Moby for 1 hour. It was VERY worth it. Seeing Moby live is not to be missed.
I'd do it again in a heart beat. If he comes to a campus near u, please go!
He needs the support of all of his fans. I can tell that it fuels his fire so
much. I hope that when this tour is over, he will take a little break and
come back to just us where we love him.
I'm new to this list, and i don't know how posts work here, so i'm sorry if
it was a little lenghty.

Well, I'm not that new, having posted once or twice, but i'll introduce
myself anyways. I'm Sarah from Wooster, Ohio. Now I just wanted to share
with you all how much being a college student sucks.
I do not have enough money to see Moby & Bush at BGSU :-( Now, that's
sorta ok because I know that Moby will be touring more in the US
eventually. But what really irks me is that fact that people overheard me
talking about the concert and now they're going. And they don't even like
Moby. Life just isn't fair. So if anyone knows of a way for me to go for
relativly little cost, let me know (*sigh*).
oh well.. and i don't even own a moby cd cause i'm a little short on
cash. *sigh* again.
but I do have lots of mp3s :-)
I'm not usually this gloomy, just wanted to share(?) my gloom :-( I hope
everyone who goes the BGSU show has a lot of fun! *smile*

free one? Do I just have to order a book or does anybody know anything?
Thanks,

I don't think Moby's music is that mainstream that its being arranged for
sheet music yet.
I could be wrong, but I don't think its out there.
The only advice i can give you is try and learn it by ear.
The piano part is just some nice basic chords.
Since i wasn't a great music reader, I used to just put the song on repeat
on my cd player and
work at it until i got it down myself. If you can't find the sheet music,
I'd say thats your best bet.
Otherwise u might have to get some Nsync sheet music!!! ;)

Hi all. He leaves me speechless- he left me speechless. I have to agree
with the person who said he seemed out of his element on the campus invasion
tour (Saw it last weekend in Tampa, FL). I saw him in St. Pete last October
in a small outside venue and it was THE BEST concert I ever did see, really.
I went to the MTV thingy on the USF campus in the afternoon because I heard
he would be there at some point filming something for Spankin' New Music and
also there would be opportunity to get backstage passes!! Well, i didn't
win but I did get to meet Moby. It was pathetic- he was walking around with
a couple of MTV people and NOBODY (except for me:)) noticed him or knew who
he was. Not usually shy I was absolutely beside myself and it took my
boyfriend going over to him and asking if the cheesy collegeclub.com digital
camera guy could take our picture, I'm a huge fan, etc. Well, he took our
picture and I'm shaking his hand and he's asking me questions and I couldn't
even talk- of course since then I've replayed in my head all of the things I
would've liked to say believe me but oh well. He was very kind and seemed
genuinely interested and I am sooo sorry if I idssappointed you Moby but
hey- I was awe-struck. What's a girl to do. Anyway- I too am sorry if this
is long but I wanted to share with someone who might care and be interested
(my friends are sick of hearing about it!) If anyone wants to see the
picture I can attch it- are attachments appropriate- I am not a big
mailinglist person either.

Got that mysterious Schaumgummi 7" split double single today!
Here's the info:
UNTITLED [The Philisines Jr. , Paul Yates, Moby ] [1999]
UK 7", Lissy's, LISS36
A 3:52 The Philistines Jr. - The Ballad Of Paul Yates
B 3:38 Schaumgummi (Featuring Paul Yates & Moby)
A totally crazy single! "The Ballad Of Paul Yates" is some sort of rock/pop
song
to praise the great Paul Yates (ehhrr) and well, we know what Schaumgummi is
about...
The artwork is nice, the front has a guy in classic pilot clothes (pilot
glasses, leather
wind jacket etc.) and the back has a huge photo of Paul Yates. The front
label of the
single has a boy with huge taped glasses and a cap wearing StarTrek clothes
and
doing the Spock greeting thing with his hand, the back label shows Paul
Yates with
an old model professional film camera.
I've encoded both songs to high bit-rate mp3z and will be uploading them
(along
with a bunch of other rare remixes) soon because a friend of mine got a
cable modem
yesterday!

Moby, Live in Concert
Tim Ritchie, presenter of Radio National's Sound Quality hosted Moby in
Concert. Presented here in Real Audio and Windows Media Player, 10:00 -
11:00pm (AEST) Friday March 24 , recorded live in Lisbon, Portugal.
Moby
After the broadcast you can listen to the full 90 minute version of the
concert in Real Audio by following this link to [2]Sound Quality.
Also known as Voodoo Child, Moby is a versatile musician who gained
recognition in the early 1990s for his contributions to dance & techno
music. His creative talents have made him a much-sought-after remixer.
In 1995 he released Everything is wrong, a critically acclaimed album
spanning several vastly different genres of music. A year and a half
later, his Animal Rights album surprised many who never expected him to
do a rock record. Variety is the spice of life, and Moby treats his
listeners to some great sonic recipes. His music is honest and full of
emotion, running the gamut from contemplative ambient to relentlessly
hard techno and rock, and anything in between.
Moby's latest album, Play, has a bluesy feel, with a touch of hip-hop
and other influences, and has been well-received by fans and critics.
"The album is good, if I dare say so myself," Moby said early last
year. "Much more down-tempo than previous stuff."
Concert play-list includes :
1) Find my baby
2) If things were perfect
3) Machete
4) Ah-ah
5) Porcelain
6) Bring back my happiness
7) James Bond theme
8) Natural blues

This is my first so I thought I would introduce
myself;
My name is Ross Hardy, I'm 20 years old and have a lot
of Moby albums and singles (although it's mostly from
the Play album!!!). I have no rarities but I a would
love to get some (hint, hint to you people out there!)
How did I get into Moby???
I'm not sure when I first heard him, I think I
havealways heard his music for years but never knew at
the time that it was him. I finally decided to
collect his work back in 1996 when he remixed "Until
It Sleeps" by Metallica (one of my favourite bands)
and it grew from there.
Other music I am into,
Hardknox (I saw them through Moby's live shows he had
played in London recently and I love them), Prodigy,
Type O Negative, Cradle Of Filth, Future Sound Of
London, Paradise Lost, Clawfinger, Die Krupps.... The
list goes on, but you can see that I have varied
interests.
That's about all for now
Catch you later.
