yea but i still feel really sad, i mean i have the picture in my head of cute
lil moby standing there all alone with a sad look on his face. Its a shame
cause he works soooo hard and he's just unbeleiveable and people dont give
him the respect he deserves.

tho. It was bizarre tho. I thought I heard he was on another commercial

errrr... silly kitt, i thought the concert was in new
york city, now i definatly can't go.. when is moby
going to come back philly??? i think moby really
truely deserves all the good attention he is getting
for his music, but does anyone else wish he was
getting the same hype for some of his earlier work?
there's this girl at my school who claims to love moby
since play came out and i was trying to get her to
listen to voodoo child and everything is wrong and she
seemed really unimpressed. i mean, i like play a lot,
but i don't think it will ever be as influencial to my
life as everything is wrong was... sigh...

there were so many commercials on t.v. in england when
i was there. i'd be sitting there with my friend and
every commercial break i'd start getting really
excited because a song would come on.. i was wondering
if any tricky fans remembered that commercial, i think
it was about crack, and they played this song from
maxinque in the background, that was nice, especially
because a ton of tricky songs talk about him doing
coke.... just some more random thoughts.. *kitters*

that is so true, but my experiences have been just the oppoiste! People hate
Mobys earliest works such as play.I think in a sense that both his past and
earliest releases both have they're ups and downs. Personally, I did like
mobys past work better, but Play was soooo great! LIke I can listen to that
CD over and over again and never get tired of it. It has certainly lived up
to its expectations.

in my opinion, ESSENTIAL. best album ever. EVER.
especially the second cd, so powerful! of course, if
you just have the American version, you heaar some of
the second cd, but not all of it. but either way,
great great stuff. the lyrics to the rock songs are
kinda dumb tho, but the muzik is so damn powerful. he
is a guitar god! id really like to hear some of his
old punk stuff. wonder if it sounds like the Beasties
"Some Old Bullshit" stuff?
anyway, BYE!

uh, wait, that has nothing to do with Moby.. anyway,
at least some people are diggin Moby there. he is the
best live performer ever (that ive seen, which is not
a lot) and if anybody fails to catch his vivrant
energy, they should be capped like Old Yeller.
about "F Bush", i used to really love Bush. of course,
when i was into Bush, i was into Radio 104
"alternative" stuff in 1995 or so, nothin but Nirvana
and REM and Pearl Jam and STP and Bush n stuff. some
of that stuff i kinda cant stand now, but some of the
really good stuff still holds (come on, Nirvana and
REM and sometimes Pearl Jam are pure GENIUS!) and
you'd think Bush would just erode away like an old 311
cd or something, but i listened to all my old stuff
and well, "Sixteen Stone" is a really good album. its
just pure ROCK. "Razorblade Suitcase" is ok, but i
cant listen to the thing the whole way thru. the remix
cd is good, not exceptionally great, but the Goldie
and Meat Beat Manifesto mixes totally rock, and the
Tricky song is nice too. the rest is mostly just
standard big beat stuff. and the new album is kinda
lame but "Letting The Cables Sleep" is nice. i had a
dream recently that I saw a Bush show and it totally
rocked. they were on this stage in the middle of a
crowd, and there was a pit of fire around the stage,
and all these Chinese guys around it throwing flaming
sticks and stuff... and everyone including me was like
GAVIN!!!!!! and the first song they played was
something from the new album i didnt recognize but
then they played "Machinehead" and everyone was like
ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and it was like old times.....
then I woke up. I'd very gladly stay for Bush if i saw
a Moby/Bush show. I probly wouldnt cheer as loud but
hey, Moby's just better. I think it'd be totally ROCK
if Moby and Bush collaborated. of course that would
complete a holy trinity triangle thing, Moby working
with Bush, Gwen background on the new Bush cd, Gwen
singing South Side ;) or all three together?
nevermind....
oh yeah, for all of you who werent bored about me
talking about stupid rock muzik i liked when i was in
middle school, heres the rest of the Moby quotes from
rocknews.com including some juicy BEASTIES stuff!
about Miami Beach of all places:
"Miami Beach is a very, very interesting place... On
the one hand, it's really lovely... I was down there
New Year's Eve and the ocean water was warm and it was
really delightful. But it's just a strange mix of
cultures. On the one hand, it's like this playground
for rich Europeans and rich Americans, but then you
also have so many old retired people around, so its
just like this weird mix. You can be walking down the
street and have these tanned Italian tourists sort of
just flush with money walking next to people in their
70s and 80s who look like they have another five
minutes left in the world. So it's a very strange
juxtaposition of cultures."
i remember going to Miami Beach back in the day!
about the BEASTIES (woohoo!)
"I did a remix for the... Beastie Boys single [it says
its "Body Movin" but no FBSlim did that, Moby remixed
Alive so weve heard AND WHEN IS IT COMIN OUT???]. We
did that as a very friendly trade: I did a remix for
their single and Mike D did a remix for my next
single. That way no money traded hands and we could
just do it for fun."
"The Beastie Boys I've known on and off for ages
because we were both involved in the New york hardcore
scene in the early 80s, and they recorded most of
their last album in the basement in my building here
in New York-- what they called "The Dungeon"-- down on
Mott Street. So I saw them quite a lot while they
we're making the record, and they're just really nice
guys, and it amazes me, because they're so successful
and they've been successful for so long, but they're
really not very affected by it."
which is what i think has and will continue to happen
to Moby.
and WHERE IS THIS BUILDING????? I MUST LIVE THERE ;)
that must be the coolest apartment in the planet. and
its also pretty xpensive i bet. anybody in NYC pass by
Mobys house often?
about John Waters:
"I'm doing...the music for the title sequence for the
next John Waters movie [Cecil B. Demented], mainly
just because I'm a huge John Waters fan. Even though I
don't necesarily have the time to do it, I'm trying to
make time just cuz I love John Waters so much."
about as they put it "Bowing To The 'Porcelain' God"
[ewww!;]:
"I think [The Beach's promoters] are also using
[Porcelain] for the trailers and all the previews,
which is always exciting. Like if you go out on a date
to go to the movies and the music that you made comes
over the speakers, it's a nice way to impress your
date."

Subject: (mobility) Machine Soul (Moby compiled?)
went to the record store tday to finally get the Mr.
Oizo cd cuz they ran out of it before (highly
recomended!) and i saw a compilation that has both
Moby AND KLF on it!
it's called Machine Soul: An Oddysey Into Electronic
Dance Music and it just so happens that CDnow has a
tracklist and samples! so heres tha list:
CD 1 (cdnow has samples for all of these!)
Kraftwerk: The Robots
The Normal: Warm Leatherette
Donna Summer: I Feel Love
Sparks: Number One Song In Heaven
OMD: Electricity (not the Moby remix ;)
Gary Numan: Cars
Throbbing Gristle: Adremalin
Cabaret Voltaire: Yashar (now playing, i like them now
;)
Afrika Bambaataa/Soul Sonic Force:Planet Rock
(classic, i heart this song!)
Newcleus: Jam On Revenge
Cybotron: Clear
New Order: Blue Monday (why does everyone who gets a
New Order song for a compilation get this one? hasnt
everyone heard it a million times, and has several
copies?)
Rhythim Is rhythim: Strings Of Life
Disc 2 (cdnow samples starred *)
M/A/R/R/S: Pump Up The Volume (Radio Edit) (suckers!)
Inner City: Big Fun
Depeche Mode: Enjoy The Silence (Single Edit)
*KLF: WHAT TIME IS LOVE? (LIVE AT TRANCENTRAL MIX) (i
listened to the sample, i guess its the album version,
with the rap and all, its definitely not the classic
Live At Oz version but i guess that wouldnt work on a
cd like this...)
Orb: Little Fluffy Clouds (Dance Mix MKI Edit)
(another sadly predictable choice)
the most predictable "history of
techno/rave/electronic muzik" compilation cut ever:
MOBY: GO! (like, do some people even know he recorded
other stuff? it seemed like for a while everyone was
getting this for a compilation, and now that he's
popular with Play and all theres all these Play songs
on comps, and now heres Go again.... oh well...)
Shamen: Move Any Mountain (IRP In The Land Of Oz)
LA Style: James Brown Is Dead (7" version) (no hes
not!)
THE Prodigy: Charly (Alley Cat Mix) 9not to be
confused with any Firestarter band ;)
*Underworld: Rez (this has been on a few comps too...)
*Chems: Life Is Sweet
Fluke: Absurd (Mighty Dub Katz Vox Mix)
*Uberzone: 2 Kool 4 Skool (Short)
Paul Van Dyk: For An Angel (PVD Angel in Heaven Radio
Mix)
BT: Godspeed (BT Edit)
......and MPEG samples are up for ALL OF THESE SONGS
btw.
and aparently, MOBY COMPILED IT!!!
heres the CDNow review:
The latest project from the currently ubiquitous Moby
is _Machine Soul_, a two-cd collection chronicling the
history of electronic/dance music.Moby (along with
Craig DeGraff and Johan Kugelberg) co-produced the
compilation, as well as contributed liner notes to the
informative 40-page booklet included in the set.
You have to hand it to Moby, though, for as many
different projects as the 21st century's version of
James Brown (IE "The hardest working man in show
business" [to folks at Mobility, we had a discussion
about this before, so heres proof! Moby is the hardest
working etc.!])is involved in, the quality seldom
slips. _Machine Soul_ is an impressive compilation on
many efforts: as a historical document of the
electronic music revolution, as a killer two-cd set,
and as a celebration of eclecticism.
Fittingly, the collection begins with the
idiosyncratic blips and bleeps of Kraftwerk, that as
the liner notes state, "started it all", by helping
introduce synthesizers and drum machines as "accepted
instruments." Coming only two songs after Kraftwerk's
"Robots" is Donna Summer; the "queen of disco" is
represented by the funky synthesizers of "I Feel
Love."
That kind of diversity runs rampant through _Machine
Soul_, particularly on disc one. Afrika Bambaataa &
The Soul Sonic Force's infectious hip-hop flavored
[hiphop flavored?] party anthem, "Planet Rock",
follow's Cabaret Voltaire's dark "Yashaa", a song that
blends aggressive synthesizers with a Middle Eastern
vibe. While some of the older material, particularly
Throbbing Gristle's "Adrenalin", sounds dated, its
nice to see such bands as OMD, one of the early
proponents of crafting pop hooks with synthesizers,
get their due.
Disc two will include more recognizable names to newer
converts to electronic music. Many of the biggest acts
on the scene today, including the Prodigy, Paul Van
Dyk, The Chemical Brothers, and The Orb, appear on
disc two. The standout tracks include Moby's classic
"Go", a seminal mix [we've also talked about calling
this seminal before, eh?] of ambience, energy, and
female vocals; LA Style's frenetically paced club
favorite "James Brown Is Dead"; BT's "Godspeed"; and
Underworld's uplifting "Rez", which slowly rises to
multiple epiphanies.
As with any historically minded compilation, there are
some notable omissions (in particular Brian Eno, Can,
and Leftfield), but _Machine Soul_ is more than an
adequate starting point for the unitiated. And those
who fanct themselves connoisseurs of electronic music
[will probly have all these trax and not buy it ;]
will enjoy being able to trace the history from
Kraftwerk all the wat to BT."
hmmmm right also theres complete liner notes for
evertyhing, and some pictures, INCLUDING A PHOTO OF
BILL AND JIMI THAT IVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE, and it talks
about the million quid (i think) and ***K the
Millenium, and all that stuff.
oh yeah, its on Rhino and it comes in one of those old
school double-sized double cd cases.
i gotta go now, my mom is yellin at me. time to listen
to some "royal Astronomy"now ;)
BYE!
