Does anyone know what time this will be? I was hoping there would be a
convenient listing on the BBC's website with something along the lines of, "7p
Evening Session MOBY" but things don't seem to be that well spelled out.
Apparently the choices are:
4:00pm
Chris Moyles
Music for the journey home.
Evening:
6:00pm
Dave Pearce
With Radio 1's Most Wanted 6 at 6.
8:00pm
Lamacq Live
Steve Lamacq with the best new music, including news and reviews plus a special
feature on Elastica.
12:00am
Mary Anne Hobbs - the Breezeblock
Dance and punk with exclusive guest mixes.
Looks like I'm going to be listening to Radio 1 all night...
Also, does anyone know why Moby sings Run On without a track in concert? His
excuse is because the singer is dead, but I'm sure all of the others are long
gone as well, and they obviously have the recording because it's on the album.
Was there some sort of copyright goof?
And, are the vocals on My Weakness supposed to be anything? They sound
backwards.
AND, lastly, is it possible to get/buy any of Moby's videos?
Oh, I never did that little New Member thing.. I'm a resident of Texas, but
have spent most of my time of late in California, excluding the past month and
future 5 months, which will be spent in Brighton, England. I also like to
listen to The Afghan Whigs, Radiohead, and Barry Manilow. At the copa, copa

i was a vegan for almost four years and i always found
one inherent problem with the "wearing" animals issue:
denim jeans. levis, as well as every other company on
the face of the earth, has this infatuation with
slapping their logo on a piece of leather and then
sewing it near a belt loop at the top of the pants.
now, by purchasing the jeans, one indirectly supports
the frivolous and unneccessary slaughter of cows but a
more lax vegan might buy the jeans and remove the
label as to not "wear" the dead skin. hmph. it's a
bit of an issue. furthermore, i think moby is
completely rad and honest, but for those of you who
like to overanalyze his actions and ridicule his
*contradicting behavior*, ponder for a moment his
recent CK photo shoot and whether or not he
inadvertently wore leather for an hour. but then
again it doesnt really matter anyway because i doubt
that he had to pay for the pants and since they prolly
paid him, he definitely wasnt economically supporting
the death of animals, but in another light he possibly
made money off of it and in so doing exploited animals
for his own gain...be it concious or not and that is
anti-vegan in its own right.
of course this is all based upon the naive assumption
that all pairs of CK denim jeans come equipped with a
patch of leather.
for the record, i used to be vegan, am no longer, and
totally respect the lifestyle in every way, shape, and
form. i could also care less what moby does. i am
just interested in seeing how long responses to this
letter will continue to surface and what ppl think
about the concepts i've raised.

Hi, everyone! I know that this isn't high traffic list (at least it doesn't
seem like it), so sorry about my multiple posts of late.
I just wanted to let you state-side folks know that I was able to record Moby
on BBC Radio 1 tonight. There was a short interview at the start, then he did
Why does my Heart, Go, and Natural Blues. It was about 15-20 minutes long, I'd
guess. (If I had a walkman, I'd be transcribing the interview for you here and
now, but alas, I do not.)
If anyone would like a copy from my `master,' then let me know (off-list, of
course). I would really like to trade for some stuff.. anything really.

Un-mark yer calendars Mobiles!! There will NOT be a chat with the man himself on
Feb. 21. Due to commitments to the MusiCARES benefit show with Elton John, we
weren't able to schedule an AOL chat. It's a noble cause so you'll have to cut
Moby some slack. We'll shoot for a later date and I'll keep you all posted.
Here's a little sump'n to chew on. Last week MTV played "Natural Blues" 14
times, and VH-1 played it 7 times. Analysis? We gotta get on VH-1's case a
little more. You can e-mail them from their site at www.vh1.com and request it.
It's unfortunate, but all votes are anonymous on VH-1's page. This means you
can't stare at the TV every afternoon waiting for your comment to come sliding
across the screen. "Hey Carson, please play Moby cos' it's soooo kewl and it
rocks!!!!" (with apologies to those who indeed believe that the video is soooooo
kewl and rocks).
Cheers everyone.

Subject: (mobility) 'MESSAGE FROM MOBY FOR MOBILITY'
hi everybody,
i'm here in liverpool in the middle of a european tour and it's 3:30 in the
morning and i'm doing everything in my power to stay on new york time rather
than adjust to european time. this manifests itself by my going to sleep at
7 in the morning and then waking up at 2 or 3 in the afternoon. if i can do
this for the length of the european tour then going back to the states will
be easier, sleep-wise.
i had a journalist ask me if i was staying up all night taking drugs and
having wanton(not won-ton. that's a type of noodle.)sex. he seemed a bit
disappointed when i confessed that i was staying up reading 'dune' and
sending e-mails to my friends. ah well...maybe i should make up lurid
stories to keep the press happy.
so just an update of sorts-
the next single is 'natural blues'. is this all old news? well, i know
that it comes out in the beginning of march and it has mixes by paul
oakenfold, mike d from the beastie boys, red jerry from hooj choons, and
some nice remix guys called peace division.
it looks as if i'll be on tour until next october. if that's to be the
case, then the 'play' tour will end up being 16 months long. long time,
huh. the plan is to continue with this euro-tour until march, and then tour
the states until the end of may, then do festivals in europe in june and
july, then back to australia, and then more north american touring in
september and october. i guess i'm lucky that i like to travel.
and, if i may brag for a minute, 'play' has gone gold in new zealand,
australia, ireland, canada, the u.k, the u.s, and it's about to go gold in
greece, germany, norway, and the netherlands. i find it all to be very
strange, actually. on one hand it's very gratifying that i've made an album
that people seem to like, but it's kind of disconcerting nonetheless.
ok, enough rambling. i hope that you're all well and i look forward to
seeing you while i'm on tour.
thanks,
moby

Mobilities,
I cannot stress enough how important I think it is for you to get outside often
(residents of LA, Mexico City, or my own super-smoggy hometown of Atlanta are
excused). However, if you're slumped on the couch in that perfect little
ass-groove that you've spent the better part of yer life carving, here's
something really worth watching. Again, these are straight from V2's own
brilliant publicity department and are subject to change and cause utter
disappointment, so in the event of any of these programs not airing, please see
above where I suggested you go outside instead of watch TV. Enjoy...
Pax,
Scott
Next Sunday, Feb 13, tune in to CNN/TIME Newsmagazine (on CNN). There's a Moby
piece on at 9pm and midnight.
This was filmed as a 'companion' piece to Moby's upcoming (out next week) piece
in TIme magazine! (IT's a separate interview from the CNN Showbiz Today piece
that aired last week)
Tuesday, Feb 15, check out "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (he's good, but he's
no Craig Kilborn)". On Comedy Central at 11pm (not sure about time outside of
NYC). A nice long Moby interview.

I am a vegeterain too, and I've had the same problems
you have, but to more of an extent. You see, I have
horses, and I show them. Of course that means that I
have leather boots, bridle, saddle, chaps, ect. I
don't like the idea of using these products, but it's
inevitable in the day and age to avoid some
condradictions towards what you believe. The way I see
it is, some cultures believe animals are very sacred.
They don't kill unless they have to. I wouldn't eat an
animal unless I was starving to death. Yet, if they
had to kill the animal, they would use all parts of
it, such as the hide, to keep them warm, or to use to
make weapons. I don't believe Moby is a hypocrite
because he is a vegan and wore a little leather patch
on his butt for an hour that was stamped ck. I haven't
been listening to Moby for as long as some of you
have, but I don't think from reading his articles,
that he has forced any of his beliefs on me. I do,
though, think that his essays has influenced me to do
more research into things, and it made me think things
through more thoroughly. And if anything else, when I
listen to his music, I feel more at ease, or happier
emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually.
Therefore I will not even begin to critisize him for
his actions, after all he is only human.
peace.
megs.

Very well said megs... I know I personally admire the man, but I really have
to watch out when I start to admire some one because i start putting them in
god-like status and then get all hurt when they do something bad. I could
care less about the CK ad. it's cute, and the money went to charity.. He
did not buy the clothes that he wore, so not directly contributing to the
whole wearing animal products thing.. But by that theory he's promoting it,
but he's a human who's just getting some attention, so let him enjoy it. I
have sworn I will start to worry when he creates his own clothing line and
promotes it on TRL.. not till then.

hmmm, I didn't get this problem with any of my ftp programs--does anyone
else have this problem too?
ANyway, because of the huge success of everyone uploading (over 300 megs in
the last 2 weeks or so) I have increased the max users to 9 and the priority
of the program on my system, meaning more of you can d/l and at faster
rates(I hope).
I have begun trying to clean up the file names, I know some browsers don't
like parenthesis and it makes it a lot more, let's say pretty. I'm also
trying to get complete mp3 tags, seeing as how that would be extremely
helpful for many (several portable mp3 players are coming out that support
tags, so it's best to have complete information when possible).
Anyway, though I can browse through the mobility discography, I would like
help from others as well to complete the tags and fill in as much info as
possible, so if you u/led a file maybe you could email me this
info(personally or through the list).
Again, that ftp is:
ftp://129.93.212.27
have fun!
Chris Bourke.
ps: Steve: Though I encoded all the wav files you had on the CD, why did you
include non0-moby related ones, like the Pork Boys (or am I missing the moby
connection here?)
