A "Play it to the Bone" commerical for the movie played "Machete" through
the whole thing.
Maybe somebody already mentioned this, I dunno..

The meaning will certainly change if the fake estrogens in plastics, in

Subject: (mobility) Tokyo Concert
I won't go into tons of detail about the whole deal
since the concert was very similar to the numerous
reviews that have already been posted on Mobility.
It started around 11:00pm. The room was packed, and
as soon as 'My weakness' started playing there was
this amazing hush. Folks just stood there as the
lights, the violins, and the rumbling base did their
magic. Moby commenced through his set with Greta and
the rest of the band. The audience was really
appreciative and I was surprised how many of the folks
seemed to know the songs. The girls lining the front
row went crazy for Moby every time he danced past, and
when he reached out to shake their hands I thought I
was back in the 60s with Beatles and Elvis groupies.
Moby used 'the only Japanese he knew' (Arigatou =
Thank you) numerous times. Before the 'Thousand'
finale he said it was his first time playing Japan.
That fact kind of shocked me considering the length of
his career.
In all, the only thing bad about the concert was that
it was too short. Moby was limited to one hour
because the Chemical Brothers were supposed to DJ
after his live set. There were a fair showing of
ravers who obviously came for the Chemical Brothers
and had little interest in Moby, but on the whole All
the Tokyoites digged him. Hopefully he'll come back.

From: DJ Pagan <djpagan@yahoo.com>
Subject: (mobility) Recent Acquisitions
So it's time once again to let everyone know what
I've picked up in the last couple of months. If
I repeat myself from an earlier update, I must
apologize now. Just deal with it. :)
Okay, here we go...
Les Rythmes Digitales - "Darkdancer"
This was one of three CDs I didn't set out to
buy, but ended up doing so anyway. I'm not sure
if it was the Skee-lo sample or that French Disco
sound, but it's a fun album to listen to. LRD
himself stated that he wasn't out to make
meaningful music, but catchy music. He's done
it.
Richie Hawtin - "Decks, Efx, and 909"
A spectacular mix. This is of DJ Pagan's Top CDs
of the Century Hall of Fame, and that's no lie.
Then again, my taste in music sucks as you'll all
attest to. :) It's minimal, like Hawtin, but the
addition of the 909 brings enough perpetual
motion to the set to keep it going, and the song
selection is great.
Lee Blaske - "Behind the Day"
This is a piano suite that's pretty gothic and
dark. Between sets is some eerie voice that
claims to be a vampire, and says some really neat
poetry. Nice stuff for work to scare away the
kinfolk. :)
Mu-ziq - "Royal Astronomy"
This album is strangely better and better
everytime I listen to it. I really hated it the
first time I heard it, but now I can't wait to
see Mike in concert. The light airy feel with
just a touch of Aphex Twin is kind of nice,
actually.
George Winston - "Autumn"
Another solo piano album. This one is a bit more
intriguing than his others. The songs paint more
of a picture than most of his other disks, though
Forest will always be my favorite.
Basement Jaxx - "Remedy"
After all the talk on the list, I had to pick
this up and see for myself. I'm not
disappointed, in fact, kind of impressed. It's
not for everyone, that's for sure. If you hate
house, then you might want to get a restraining
order. The whole album is well done, IMHO.
DJ Rap - "Learning Curve"
The Drum'n'Bass Priestess, eh? Well, all I heard
was some really hard pop with light vocals, but
it's nice. D'n'B is hard for me to get into at
any rate, so this was nice. Plus, she's really
hot. :)
Christopher Lawrence - "Temptation"
Another hard trance compilation (Okay, harder
than Oakie, anyway). Chris is really good at
what he does, deserving the Trance DJ of the Year
back in 98. I only wish he would do more of his
own stuff than mixing others.
Paul Oakenfold - "Tranceport"
The best mix I've heard from him besides the Real
Audio from Cream. Yeah, yeah... nobody likes
Oakie anymore, but I think he's marvelous. The
track selection is pretty much the same, but the
delivery is well done. I wonder how he'd fare
making his own music. Once again, same boat as
Chris above.
Danny Tengalia - "Global Underground 4"
Deep, dark, sexy house. Or so the cover says,
anyway. I like the vulgar parts of it, could
just see everyone get really offended, then
realize they shouldn't be on the dance floor. :)
This whole GU thing is new to me, but not bad.
Gives me a nice overview of some DJ capabilities.
Natalie Merchant - "Ophelia"
I like it. 'Nuff said. Natalie is an excellent
vocalist, and her songs, while trendy and dated,
are nice listens... something we'll hear and hum
on the "oldies" station in our not-so-distant
futures.
Later all.

The Porcelain single is not a hoax, as we all now know. (shame on you for
considering a moby.org prank, whoever it was :) You can look at the cover
of it at the moby fans yahoo club. If you know anything about vases, tell us
about the cover image. I'm curious if it's just a picture of any old vase,
or if it's an image of an antique vase from an ancient Chinese dynasty or
the like.

That must be little me.... sorry y'all. Well I didn't consider it a "prank"
Just the lack of official confirmations made me suspicious...

Damn that's a good question... Has somebody been watching Being John
Malcovich? First I would have a serious chat with my tour director or
whoever is scheduling to make sure I have plenty of performances in So Cal
and the other locations of the Mobility fans.. plus make sure that they all
get vip treatment.... Um I can't make music so I would refrain from
polluting Moby's image with anything I could possibly create. So I think I'd
go sing Karioke with Michael Stipe (ie my twin).. Oh and get some remixes of
porcelain together to release as a single.
The weird thing is, even if you were inside his head, you wouldn't be him..
You couldn't make the music, perform live because it his mind, not yours.

That's weird. You think that musicians would know that and that they would get
the bands permission so that they could keep what they were working on...but
no. What was that band that used a snipet of a Stones song in their song and
released it and sold a lot of copies but got suied so they didn't make any
money off the single at all?
Oh well, it's a lesson learned. :-)

Kimby ( and who else might care)
that was the verve's bittersweet symphony. It used a snippet of a a stones'
song. What really annoys me though is that its an orchestral version of
that song. The Stones didn't play that, they just wrote it. A symphony
actually played the sample. They ended up signing ALL profits from that
song over to the stones and the stones management was the brilliant group of
people that let nike get hold of it and degrade it in their commercials. Oh
well....

more about music...then he offers to call moby and all us three will have
coffee...
conclusion: this all ties with my previous e-mail....what would you do if
you were in moby's shoes for one day....
