I currently have 5 of Moby's CDs, including PLAY, which rocks the joint.
I first heard of Moby not too long ago. By the end of August he was playing
in Boston and I went to his free concert.
Other interesting info: I like Moby not only because of his music, but also
because of his views on life, animal rights, etc. Like him I'm also a vegan
+ I'm majoring in public policy.

things are slow both here and there I thought I'd post this to mobility as
well, and hopefully get some Moby conversation going.
By the way, the reason I was playing "Go" for Tom was because he didn't
believe me that the original version of Go had no Twin Peaks sample in it.

My friend Tom was surprised to learn that "Go" had originally been a b-side
for "Mobility". I played him the original and he liked it, and was impressed
that Moby had been so many 'different' artists on Instinct's lineup. He had
a Messiah 12" with him that was also an early Instinct record, and it's
called "Temple Of Dreams." I quite like it, although the intro sounds very
dated. The vocals are very nice, for lack of a better description. Check it
out if you get the chance.
Also, I was showing him Play and he saw the V2 survey card that came w/ it,
my receipt (June 1st) and my ticket stub from the Play tour. (and the
autograph on the cover :) He remarked (being a European, Polish actually)
that Moby plays bigger venues in Europe. I showed him the picture in ILTS,
and out fell my ticket stub from December 1997. Ah, memories. :)

The Messiah record was released on Instinct's 'Kickin' imprint, although the
Instinct hand logo is also present on it.

yes, messiah! i recommend all of you to listen to their '21st century jesus'
album which was just re-issued last year. if you're a hardcore moby fan,
like me, you won't be disappointed for the most part. i agree, the vocals in
'temple of dreams' and 'i feel love' are very nice.. their other hard techno
tracks are great too. but i never knew they were apart of instinct back
then... it's interesting looking back at it now having been exposed to moby
and messiah at the same time. anyways, i wonder what they're up to now. did
they change their name to 'messiah presents progenitor' or something?

also, i got the Matador 3cd anthology thingy
"Everything Is Nice" silly title, but it kinda clashes
with the title of one of my fave albums ever but
anyway it includes the entire Matador catalog EVER in
here, and heres some info you might wanna know about
the Jon Spencer Experimental Remixes, which Moby
contributed to. Its catalog number is OLE-111? ok,
well it was first released on 5/23/95 on 12" and CDEP.
the original version of the CDEP is out of print
however. it was reissued on 6/23/95 on CDEP,
remastered w/different tracks, with the same catalog
number. then on 7/20/95 it was re-remasteres again, w/
different tracks, again only on CDEP, same catalog #.
anybody know if the Moby mixes are on some editions
but not others? just in case anyone cares, theres also
ann out of print JSBX 7" called "Bellbottoms" with the
same catalog number, OLE-111, released 2/14/95.
i highly recomend this Matador 3cd comp thingy.
amazinng shit from Cat Power (wow, truly stunning, its
cool that Moby is down with them too!) and JSBX
Pavement Jega GBV!!! Sleater Kinney Pizzicato 5 (a
charmingly weird track called "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
Barbie Dolls" i love them but after listening to them
i wonder, what the hell is up with them? seriously?)

i'm a smoker. not true. i don't smoke anything.
not cigarettes. not pot. not geraniums. nothing.

next single is 'natural blues' with remixes
by deep dish & paul oakenfold. i wonder if 'natural
blues' will get played on the radio in the u.s.
i can't really imagine it inbetween limp bizkit
and metallica...
speaking of which, is anyone else absolutely offended
by all of the misogyny in contemporary music?
all of these groups, limp bizkit, kid rock, eminem,
korn, etc, all seem to have some sort of misogynistic
component to their music and i find it to be truly
awful and offensive. misogyny is just as offensive
as racism, homphobia, anti-semitism, etc.
o.k, i'll get off my soapbox. there's nice music
playing here and i have to go and find out if it's
a band or a cd.

as i'm a struggling studio musician looking for a cheap sampler, i've been
looking at this unit...what are the pros and cons? i know it only has midi
in, that's a big strike...
this guy in a record store told me to get aything worthwhile i'd have to
spend about $500 on a sampler-obviously he hasn't seen my studio cuz there
isn't a damn thing in it that's over $350 (and that includes my korg
electribe a). if you hate the sp-202, and want to lose it, quote me a price
and i'll see what i can muster $ wise.

Oh Moby, please have mercy on us non-US/UK Mobility
members! :) What does misogyny mean? I can't find it
in my English=>Dutch vocabulary, can anybody please

Well, I think I agree with mr. Hall here because I also
don't like the groups mentioned above, but then again
I find most mainstream and semi underground music
of the past 2 years to be disappointing... (exceptions
like Moby, Faithless, Air and some others not included)
