Definitely a compliment. I loev sick music. I was overjoyed when somebody
called on of my tracks sick and disturbing. (Underground Cities available
at www.mp3.com/logickills self-promotion).
I wish Moby would do something really twisted some day. Yknow? He's kind of
mellow on Play except for Machete. Mellow in the non-threatening sense.

Wow, that sounds really awesome. Speaking of ppl making audio tapes/etc for
ppl here on the list...where does that ever go? I've been interested in a lot
of things that ppl have offered but never heard anything past the offer? So,
maybe some one should compile a list of things for offering and a list of
things they would like in return ( like shipping, blank tape, five bucks here,
a trade there..). What say you all? Eh?

First off let me say woah Felicia. I thought you are 13 (or is that a joke
I'm not picking up on)... Logickills is coool.. I'm in the wrong mood for it
(someone has night at the roxbury turned on so legitimately good music just
doesn't apply to me right now)
Ne a hoo, for some reason, I have been having the hardest time remember
titles to Play songs.. Not the obvious ones, but the less obvious ones. Well
I just figured out a way to recognize machete (it sounds like something is
being chopped up) and for some odd reason that so made me appreciate the song
to a higher level and I had to listen to it like 10 times straight tonight.
It is such a great song.

i was able to run the disk on my newer computer, which is a pentium II. to
do that, i had to have a newer version of quicktime installed, which could
them recognize the older version quicktime on the CD. i then installed that
older version and the CD ran fine.
if anyone needs the quicktime program, u can download it from the web
http://www.quicktime.com . i may also be able to send it to anyone,
compressed of course!

Subject: (mobility) Atb vs Ferry Corsten
My take on these two remixes are pretty positive.
When I met up with Moby before his show in Vancouver over the summer we
spoke about how they want to take a trance treatment on this single.
With his own tunes, 9pm (Till I Come) and Don't Stop, ATB's signature sound
is written all over the track. The sliding guitar that made 9pm one of the
biggest hits in Ibiza is evident although a little more subtle, add some
euphoric keys, not to mention that bouncy house beat- it all equals a party
song. A good re-working of otherwise depressing croner. The track (original
version) is my favorite song on the cd, and ATB and Corsten are my favorite
producers du jour.
Ferry Corsten is right on with his mix. Sounding very much like one of his
own pseudonyms- System F- Corsten uses all the elements to make this a
proggy trancer that will once again bring people to tears on the
dancefloor. His mixes and sound is getting a little tougher- but he leaves
that for his own productions- while his collaborations with Vincent de Moor
and DJ Tiesto are a little softer. Famous for his breakdowns, buildups,
swirling keys, he uses minimal vocals and has a bit of a redundant style-
which is essential in a clubtrance track. You find a melody with the keys,
you bring it up from a basic bassline, you have a break (insert some
vocals), and start a drumroll, and poof, TUNE!, then you repeat until
golden brown.
Both are strong mixes- and a sign of someone who knows what they are doing.
So far, remixers who were called on board for the singles off of Play:
Rollo & Sister Bliss (honey)
Westbam (honey)
Olav Basoski (bodyrock)
Aphrodite (honey)
Hybrid (bodyrock)
Ferry Corsten (wdmhfsb)
ATB (wdmhfsb)
Subsonic Legacy (wdmhfsb) - which is also a great mix.
Dani Konig (run on)
Dave Clarke (run on)
and Moby himself.....
Play, with all its singles, remixes, b-sides, makes (for me anyways) the
best album of the year.

My 4 speed CDrom player doesn't recognise Disk either, I had to make a
copy of the data part on my friends computer and burned it on a seperate
CD. The trouble with Disk is that the audio is on the outer part of the CD
and the data is on the inner part. (It usually is the other way around...)
I have tried Disk on several CDroms (8x and 12x) and only the ones with
Multiread TM and newer models don't seem to have a problem with it...

BACKSTAGE with MOBY
Q: Your music is hard to categorize. What do you call it? Techno?
Moby: I honestly don't know what you call this stuff. You take a band like
Metallica and that's easy, they're rock. Hip-hop, R&B, they all have their
place. But this music is well, eclectic. But that doesn't really describe it.
It uses old recordings, Alan Lomax's field recordings made in the early
twentieth century, alongside a break beat and drums.
Q: What's your connection to Herman Melville's great white whale?
Moby: Herman Melville is my great, great, grand uncle. My given name is
Richard Melville Hall. Even Richard, shortened to Dick, was sort of a nod to
my great, great uncle. Within about two days of my birth, my parents started
calling me Moby, and I've been Moby ever since. If you called me Richard I
wouldn't know who you were talking to.
Q: Your new CD "Play" comes with a booklet that has these little essays,
along with a disclaimer. What's that all about?
Moby: Rather than gratuitous photos of me, I thought I'd write about things
that interest me. But I didn't want anyone to be put off from the music if
they didn't agree with what I was writing about. Conversely, someone might
like the essays and hate the music.

I got that white label promo I was talking about today.
Great disappointment, no 2 Ferry Corsten mixes but
just the regular ATB remix and the regular Ferry Corsten
mix on a pretty worn and out of tune sounding piece of vinyl.
Luckily I didn't completely throw away my money on this,
because the b-side with 2 '99 remixes of "Don't be afraid"
by Moonman kind of makes up for the other side!
Also, that Yazoo - Don't go '99 12" is absolutely great!
