If you go to www.ultraworld.net, it will give you all the information you
need. If you can make it, I'm trying to designate a place to meet some of
the members from Mobility. Good luck and I hope to see ya there.

I've order from TicketMaster for WHFestival. Don't fret. They will mail
the tickets to you 10 days before the show. If you still do not have them
on the day of the show, they'll give you a confirmation # and you can pick
the tickets up at the will call window at whatever venue you're going to.
Peace, Shera

I'd never ordered tickets on-line from Ticketmaster before, and they're
taking their sweet old time getting my Moby tickets to me. The order status
says everything's okay and they still need to be printed, but is this the
norm? Does it usually take over two weeks to get these things? Next time
i'm just going to the frikkin' Wiz and handling this in person.

Well worth the wait for the download. Now, if my
peeps at Mute could hook me up with the WDMHFSB
singles, I'd be happy.
BTW, anyone else hear a faint, background sample
from Deep Forest in there from the self-titled?
It's the tribal chanting in the background.

I think that was me, and that's no lie. :) They
DO sound great, however, especially the Westbam

i never thought about the pearl jam connection before, but it's interesting
and kind of funny. after listening to "what love" yesterday, i do recognize
that drawl, though. i just thought the slow parts were supposed to contrast
the crazy, loud parts. (and what the hell is he yelling, anyway? any
ideas?)
more top albums:
new order "substance"
rem "lifes rich pageant"
echo & the bunnymen "reverberation"
stereolab "dots and loops"
lush "split"
lords of acid "voodoo-u"
i could probably think of more, but i'm at work...

Oh my God! another Moby related e-mail!
(you would almost think this is a Moby mailing list..)
first this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=174373835
This is the CD that includes the exclusive song "Frog" by Voodoo Child!
It's only a few hours before the end of this auction and this baby hasn't
got
any bids yet! (It's a GREAT CD if you're into ambient...)
Got the remix CD for WDMHFSB I had pre-ordered today.
(I wonder why I didn't get the regular one I had also ordered, I'll probably
get
it next week..) A little review:
01 6:48 WDMHFSB (ATB Remix)
===========================
No surprises here, standard ATB (for those who know them) and yes, the
stupid guitar slide/loop thing is also present (sigh) I like their first
single,
but that guitar sound is getting really predictable by now...
Very dancable though.
ATB tries to turn this wonderful Moby song into a happy(!) clubtrance track,
in order to do that they changed the chords of the original creating a mix
in which the vocal samples do not go together with the music. Putting the
heavy hearted vocals from "When It's Cold I'd Like To Die" on the music
from "Everytime You Touch Me" would create the same effect. I know that
the vocals from WDMHFSB are tricky for a remix, but ATB should at least
have shown SOME creativity, because they CAN make a good remix!
For example, I really like their radio edit for Miss Jane - It's a Fine Day
(a clubtrance cover of that old Opus III song)
** RATING: 5 out of 10 **
02 6:45 WDMHFSB (Ferry Corsten Remix)
==================================
Yes yes, that's the way to do it! This is how a clubtrance version of
WDMHFSB
should sound like! It has the same chord progression as the original and
Ferry
managed to keep that melancholic feeling of the original. It reminds me of
the
Plastic Angel clubtrance remix of Run On.... Great remix!
This mix sounds great through a surround set, surround simulator, or just
the
'HALL' equalizer preset of your stereo.
** RATING: 9 out of 10 **
03 6:22 WDMHFSB (Subsonic Legacy Remix)
=====================================
Starts off with the vocals over the original Moby synths, then a breakbeat
comes in. Hey! this break is based on the one Moby uses for the track
'Running'
on the Run On single, but it is a lot faster. They kept many of the original
instruments and only added some synth sounds and a faster breakbeat, (like
Eskimos & Egypt did with Come On Baby....) Nice mix which, because of all
the original instruments, almost sounds like Moby remixed it himself.
** RATING: 8 out of 10 **
All in all, it's certainly worth the effort for you US people to get this
single,
the Ferry Corsten and Subsonic Legacy remixes completely make up
for the ATB disappointment. :)
If no one beats me to it I'll also review the regular Run On single when I
get it.
