If you have or hold strong beliefs on Veganism please join Joe Clarks
mailing list and not tell us about it on this one as it is designed for
Moby, you remember him, the one everyone joined this mailing list for, as I
said before, your points are extremely valid and I agree to almost evry 1
of them BUT the Same point does not need to be stressed until it becomes as
blown up as racism. You guys remember that big issue. Over here in New
Zealand there is alot of culture issues and I for one hate everysingle one
of them. I do not consider myself as racist and I do not condone it for
one second but it has come to the point where it is totally ridiculous and
every thing you say is held under a microscope. If I call someone black,
it is not because I hate them or judge them, it is because I am pointing
out the most obvious thing I can think of. It is the same if I called
someone 4 eyes. I have three very close Maori friends and I even went out
with one. Oh my God, the shame of it all. ( sarcasm for those who are
fuming) If someone called me a whitey or a Honky, I would clap and commend
them on their 20/20 vision. I have no idea what goes on in America and the
UK, only what I see on the TV or in Movies but if it is as heated as this
Vegan issue has become than GOD help us all.
I'm soooooo sorry for being a hypocrite about preaching beliefs I just got
lost from the point I was trying to make which was talk about your Vegan
beliefs on another mailing list while I go preach my Racism remarks on
another one as well.
If anyone is offended at this read it again and again until u see how silly
u are.

Mobyfans... And hopefully Moby himself...
Last Saturday in St. Louis, I had the pleasure of seeing my first Moby
show. I can honestly say it was the best musical experience of my life.
I've been into Moby since just about the beginning of his career (at least
the recorded stage of his career =), so I've spent the last 9 years or so
listening to him create some of the best music I've heard. I had no idea how
incredible he could be live, though. If you ever get the chance to see Moby
play live, don't miss out on the opportunity. I drove 5 hours each way to
get to the show, stood in line for about an hour, got packed into the club
like a sardine, then ended up paying $100 for a hotel room (beggars can't be
choosers) for the night... And there's no doubt I'd do it all again for the
chance to see Moby play live again.
So, on to the things I forgot to say to Moby... You see, there were tons
of people around, and I was kinda nervous too (imagine - a 28 yr. old guy
being nervous meeting a musician just a few years older than himself... I
felt like a schoolgirl meeting Ricky Martin... ;o). I wanted to tell Moby
two things...
First, THANK YOU for all of the beautiful music you have made throughout
the years. Inspirational songs like "Hymn (This Is My Dream)",
happy-feel-good-songs like "Feeling So Real", and even somber songs like
"When It's Cold..." have made my life a bit more bearable. The highest
compliment I feel I can give is to say that I treasure your music, and feel
my life would be a little less of a better place without it.
Secondly, THANK YOU for influencing me into becoming a vegetarian. I
know, some of you might think it's lame to let a popular figure influence you
into something, but I kind of don't see it like that. Moby's facts / essay
in "Everything Is Wrong" brought things to my attention that I had no idea
of. And most importantly, it got me thinking. Thinking that maybe I didn't
need to eat like I had been eating. So, thanks to Moby's "influence," I have
now not eaten any flesh in over four years. In this time, I have become a
much more compassionate and sensitive person, and I have a higher form of
respect for all forms of life.
So, I THANK YOU, Moby. Thanks for the great show, for taking a picture
with me (I was the guy in St. Louis in the Earth Crisis t-shirt), and for the
positive influences you've had on my life.
Thanks for EVERYTHING!! (no pun intended ;o)

Just picked up a bottle of Lime Jones Soda and was pleasantly surprised to
see the "Play" cover art on the front of the bottle. (They have a marketing
gimmick that if you send them a photo and they like it, they'll put it on
the label.) Anyway, it's great to see Moby market infiltration.

spinning at STING or is it his own show? Also, I couldn't find a price

Since I just joined, I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Rebekah.
I'm 21. I live just outside DC. I'm in my 4th year of college
(psychology-but don't give me any shit for it) at UMCP. I have been
listening to Moby for a long time. I have a lot of his stuff, but EVERYTHING
IS WRONG is definitely my favorite. I could listen to it all day and never
get bored. I love playing it for people who have never heard of Moby before
(and there's a lot of them). I used to go to clubs a lot (5-6 nights a week)
and all we would listen to in the car was Moby. It was practically our
theme. That was a couple of years ago, and even though I've outgrown my wild
phase (somewhat), I still love Moby. I know everyone says it, but I really
love his ability to do all kinds of different music and make it all gold.
I also like BT, The Crystal Method, Robert Miles, Portishead, and, well,
I could go on all day...
So, that's about it,
Rebekah

I am pretty sure that Moby is doing press and promo stuff before the show. I
would think that afterwards would be better. But in Chicago he also said to
show up at soundcheck (about 6pm) and try to say hi then, too.

Joe, I was standing right behind you! Did you see a soaked dude with tan
workboots and a long ponytail? White Moby shirt and a black backpack? That
was me. I was the one pacing and smoking. (restless pacing, not anxious)
Were you the big guy w/ the black shirt on who did most of the talking? I
heard you mentioning that you saw him in DC, and him saying there's a
possible live album upcoming, and some other stuff. As I recall, you must've
left right after talking to Moby cause you weren't there after I talked to
him. Coolio!

Here is the official lowdown on the D.C. show from the
BUZZ crew on DC-Raves..
If you do plan on going tonight, keep in mind
- - it is going to be _packed_ - if you don't already
have tickets I strongly suggest it.
- - there is an age-limit and they have really good
door-nazis that will search your pockets for
contraband (drugs, cameras, pencils, candy, etc.)
I can probably answer any other questions, just
write me at this address.
anyone want to plan a mobility-netmeet? :)
