according studies (don't ask!) silkworms die fast and without suffering.
in silkfarms it's done by using boiling steam. so it's somewhat better to
use silk than f.e. wool, which is mainly produced in australia, and
treating lambs in massproduction is not very friendly. as far as i know
(and i think australia is quite far) australianlambs' asses are operated
so that they won't spoil that precious wool. and that operation hurts.
but, then again: i find it still much reasonable, friendly, better, more
beautiful, tolerant etc etc to ENJOY about whatever you do.
whatever. it's up to everyone's own feeling what feels good and what's
not. i am sorry to preach tonight about veganstuff, i hope i don't make
anyone loose nerves. or to get sad.
at least animals can't remember in the same way as people do. they live in
now. in this moment. they don't have to carry their memories of past
happens with them. f.e. your pet certainly is delighted when you two meet,
but it doesn't suffer from your nonexistence in the same sense as people
do. (this whole rant doesn't include monkeys, our cousins, btw )i hope
this helps if someone started to feel bad for what have been said or
something.
but i'm still sending this cos there might be someone who didn't know and
wants to get information all the same. though i bet that f.e. any website
of animalrights or vegan-group would give better information.
oh yes, i'm vegan, 33, brusher. and preacher, i'm afraid.
h, the ultimate besserwisser

Yes, Hope from Mazzy Star appears on the song "Asleep From Day"
from the Chemical Brothers latest CD Surrender. It is a brilliant
song that perfectly blends Mazzy Star's haunting vocals with the
Chemical Brothers brooding production.

I don't know about America and England or the country yo uare from Bart
(sorry!) but about 80% of the CD singles that come out in Japan are of
the 3 inch variety. PErsonally, I get tired of them really quick since
they can't fit into changers except some 5 disc trays... But I left that
at home for my 300 disc one and have to hook up my discman or Laptop to
my stereo to play any of the 3 inchers. I didn't even know that they
made them in America... Anyway, Later.

Well, this is my first post to the list. I guess you could say I'm a new
Moby fan.
The first Moby release I bought was the UK CD single of "Honey" BUT at the
time I bought it only because it had a Rollo/Sister Bliss remix on it and I
collect Faithless stuff. BUT, the local public radio station in Detroit
here has a Friday night "Electronic" show and the host Chuck Horn has
played stuff off "Play" WEEKLY since it came out. He loves this disc. I
heard "Porcelein" and "Natural Blues" on there one night, was BLOWN AWAY by
their beauty and immediately purchased "Play". This CD is AMAZING, I can't
see anything topping this as my favorite CD of the year. And seeing Moby
live this past week in Detroit clinched it for me, this guy is a freaking
genius (I'm sure you all don't need to be told :) ) that was the best damn
concert I have seen in years and I'm talking of ANY form of music. What a
show, what a vibe. Whew! Enough of that long intro.
> How many of you are vegan? vegetarian?
> Any body a musician? What about ages?
I am not a musician but a serious music fan and collector. I take music so
seriously, I guess the term "Music geek" applies but it means so much to me
I can't even describe it. A new CD is like a movie to me, I have to
experience it in the dark with the headphones on that first time to judge
it. That's just the start of how serious I take music :)
I'm 28 years old. I am not a vegan or a
vegetarian. I have cut red meat out of my diet, the thought of eating it
sickens me at this point, it's been that way for a few years now after
going through a lot of stomach problems. I really want to do more research
into a vegetarian diet, I do enjoy chicken and that would be the toughest
"meat" to give up. But it is definately something I've considered and this
was before Moby. I have had stomach problems my whole life and it has
certainly led me to research what I should be putting into my body and it's
led me to more veggies and fruit and farther away from meats, eggs, milk
etc.
As for Moby, I REALLY appreciate how strong he is in his beliefs and
speaking about his beliefs. I appreciate the fact he lets people know where
he stands but doesn't shove it down peoples throats such as preaching
onstage during concerts.
It is such a refreshing change from an artist I used to repsect, Prince,
who really has driven me away with his continuous onstage preachings about
what his fans "Should do" and what is "right and the TRUTH". The Moby
concert was refreshing, I respect his beliefs, I share MANY of them, but I
also respect his not forcing it on people.
God bless Moby :)
Later,
MikeA

I've had trouble with me E-mail all week..so I've lost the original question
here...but I think it was just as the subject line implies so...
Vegan: No...I'm a vegetarian, and eventually would like to move up to
Veganism, but for now, I still need my cheese...
Age: 21
Musician: Yes...I play guitar, bass, and keyboards with varying degrees
of ability. I'm in an electro-folk duo, if that makes any sense, but don't
expect to see any MP3's for a while...we're not going to do any recording
for a year as the other half of the duo is on an extended trip to London...
which brings me to my question...how does one find out the release dates for
CD's in the UK?
Is there a good website for that?
Thanks,
Daniel

That film Baraka, is incredible and Dead can Dance do the
introductory music - I think the track is called Yulunga
(Spirit Dance) or something - excellent. It's well worth
watching - it 'says' a lot, without saying anything.
So, whoever next interviews Moby, please ask him does he
believe in hell and has he ever done acid or funny shrooms?
Thanks.

Plus, grown-up humans don't need as much calcium as babies
and young children. A sensible vegan diet, may be good for
adults, but maybe not as good for younger kids - though
vegetarian diets should pose no problems.

Subject: (mobility) New Writer Intro
Hey all Moby fans,
My name is Joseph (Joe) Parkes and I'm 19 years old.
I live in Dunedin, New Zealand, which is down in the South of the South
Island.
I have been a Moby fan for about a year and a half ever since I got "I like
To score". I also have got by Moby, Everything is Wrong, ETW remixed,
Animal Rights, Play, Voodoo Child and various soundtracks like Spawn and
Jackal.
I am not vegetarian so even though it might turn alot of u guys off me, it
is Moby that brings us together. Please don't judge me. I know it is wrong
to eat or wear animals but if you met me I am a sensitive person, I cried
when I shot a rabbit two summers ago. Pretty pathetic aye. I guess I'm a
coward for eating meat, but right now I have so many other pressures in my
life it seems less important. I'm Sorry.
Something Positive Now
Other bands that light my ring include, Smashing Pumpkins, Creed, Tool, BT,
and pretty much everything in between.
I just went to a Creed concert (absolutely amazing) in Christchurch and I'm
saving for Moby's Wellington show, and I was wondering if you guys can give
me an indepth point of view of what goes on at his concerts, like does he
mix other peoples music or does he play his funky stuff. Do we stand and
listen or do we rave. I would kill to hear "Face It" Live which is my
favourite track of his. Next would be Shining, First Cool Hive, New Dawn
Fades, and God moving....
I think it also has to do with the movies I watch.
I LOVE movies, and Moby just gives them that much more.
I mean you watch the movie and because his musik is almost haunting, and
inspirational that when you listen to it later it feels as if your in the
movie.
Heat for example: at the end when Al is holding Bob's hand, it is an
amazing mix of emotions, they are both good characters but he had to do his
job etc etc I could go on for days
And the musik just heightens the experience. I can't describe it but when
I put the Cd on I want to cry. But First Cool Hive sends shivers down my
Spine And I LOVE it.
Scream is my favourite movie and Moby just makes it that much better.
We actually studied Scream at University, Thats what I'm doing now.
I would love to get to know a few of u guys personally so Email me if your
keen, we can talk about other things like Movies for example. Even if you
want to know what New Zealand is like because I would love to hear about
other countries.
I better go write an essay now so I hope I'll hear from you guys soon?
