Whhhoooohheee :)
I must say, I'm beginning to like Norman Cooks music, I got the rare
album from Beats International called "Let them eat bingo" and the
album Norman did under the name Pizzaman called "Pizza Mania"
together for only $6 at a sales bin at a local record store.
Not bad huh? These are both WAY better than the stuff he released
under the name Fatboy Slim!
I also got (for only $3 each!):
- - Sonic Surfers - Making waves (great euro-house album!)
- - Recoil - Bloodline (yes, the album with Moby on the song "Curse"!)
- - Rage - Saviour (great vocal-house album!)
- - Bizarre Inc. - Energique (great house & early drum 'n' bass)
- - V/A - House Party (summer '93) (nice mix compilation)
- - V/A - Hot Sound vol. 3 (some VERY early Dutch house & newbeat)
and finally:
- - Marky Mark & the Funky Bunch - You gotta believe
This is a funky kinda rap, I don't like it much though...
If you're a bit into oldschool rap, it's really nice, so if you're
interested
you can buy it for $3.00 + s/h the CD and case are in near mint
condition! If yer interested mail me at eijck@iae.nl
(If nobody's interested I will probably go to eBay with it, but I first
want to know if I can do a Marky Mark fan on this list a favour...)
And now for some Moby & friends:
The remixes Moby did for Westbams "Bam Bam Bam" KICK ASS!!!!
I've never heard the original, but Moby did a GREAT job!
And the "Regressive Mix" of "Fall from Grace" Moby did for Eskimos
& Egypt is also nice. (hard acid techno) I got these 2 singles at a
2nd hand store a while ago.
>On Oct. 1, director Paul Yates plans to
>enter Porno in the Sundance Film Festival, the same path to getting
>distribution that paid off for his 1998 electronica documentary,
>Modulations
I saw "Modulations" yesterday!!!!! Now that is a great documentary!
It covers EVERYTHING that has to do with electronic music, it had
short interviews (often only a few sentences) with dozens of electronic
artists like (of cource) Moby, Westbam, Kevin Saunderson, Mixmaster
Morris (a cool bald guy just like Moby), the guy that invented the MOOG
synth, Juan Atkins, Derrick May and a whole bunch of music journalists/
reviewers, Afrika Bambaata, Carl Cox....etc etc
I saw Paul Yates only credited with tiny letters hidden between lots of
other
names in the ending credits... Here's what our tv-guide said about it:
"A very thorough portret of house music. Director Iara Lee shows all
styles,
the sub-cultures, the origin and the history of electronic dance music. Lee
doesn't mention the social and cultural influence, and for the real fans
this
actually is a blessing...."
So Iara Lee was the director, so what did Yates do? Camera work?

they are advertising the show at nyu and in nyu papers. so for those who dont
believe me, check it out yourself at nyu's ticket cetral. plus "mobymail"
confirms it also. supposedly only nyu students can go - they make u show ID.

That's how it was when I saw Moby @ last summer's University of Chicago
concert. There was no promotion or public listing, it was a school-only
thing. I managed to get by the entrance since the ticket girl was flirting
with me, but most everybody had to show school IDs. I was lucky to get in so
easily, otherwise I would have been listening from outside the courtyard,
and listening through brick building, I imagine, is rather difficult. :)

the detroit show was spiff. moby left stange and came back on to the crouds
roar four times. on top of the usual stuff he played southside, smoke on the
water, walk this way, and paranoid [SABBITH!!!]. he didnt play revolver or
run on. it was a great show and lasted about two hours. well worth the $17.
i got to meet him afterwards. he is quite the charmer. i felt bad because he
had his glasses on and i kept on thinking of spud from trinspotting. he must
of thought i was a loon.
the only donwpoint was no long sleaved t-shirts. it gets hella cold in
detroit. for you people at the upcoming shows he only has white Lg play
shirts left and hats.
oh yes, the boom boom satalites were quite spiff.

Subject: (mobility) St. Louis show info... and a few questions
Well, SOME info.... =)
I called Karma for the umpteenth time, and still have not spoken to a
real person...
I DID however find out that:
1) The doors open at 9:30, and the show starts at 10pm.
2) Sorry to disappoint Rob, but Karma's message states that they are NOT
in the 'loop'. Sorry, bro. =) The address is 1624 Delmar, 3rd floor, rear
- - in the "loft district." Any questions? Call 314-621-8057, and maybe you'll
have better luck than I.
I really hate it how clubs give you an option to speak to "management,"
but there's never a person to answer the phone - just a message asking you to
leave a message. =(
And finally, no ticket prices. Double =(
So, now for the questions part -
1) I know one person mentioned $17, but how much have other Moby shows
cost (besides the free ones =)?
2) How much are the t-shirts running?
Thanks for any responses...

if you need TICKETS FOR THE ST. LOUIS SHOW
here is where your browser needs to be
http://www.mtix.com/eventdetail.asp?engageid=2313&eventid=6721
this is the metrotix page... the url takes you DIRECTLY to the moby concert
info. You can purchase tickets here.
they are $13 but i'm sure they'll be more after a service charge.
EVERYONE WHO IS UNDER 21 BRING $2 for a minor surcharge
Chip..... IF this place isn't on "the loop" :) its got to be pretty close... the
loop basically is delmar street... (however.... the metrotix page said it was
delmar BOULEVARD.... who knows) I'm hoping its a few blocks away. either way...
you should try to check out the loop.. its an awesome place
t-shirts are 15 for shortsleeve and 20 for longsleeve... i think hats were 15 but
don't quote me on that.... i read an email earlier (can't remember whose) but it
said they were out of the long sleeve ones. NONE of the shirts had a tour
schedule on it. I didn't particularly care for that... but oh well, what can i
do about it?

hi kimby :) I'm talking to someone who might be buying them from me, i should
know for sure in a couple of days. I think the tickets are still on sale. If you
can, I'd recommend going to a Ticketmaster outlet, rather than buying over the
phone or internet, because they automatically add a 20 dollar shipping fee,
which you have to finagle yr way out of. anyway, they cost me $120.50 (without
the expensive shipping) for both days. I'll email you if the person I'm
talking to decides not to buy them :)

To me, it's a good idea to always carry two sacks of something when you walk
around. That way, if anybody says: Hey, can you give me a hand? You can say:
Sorry, got these sacks.

I've been planning to get their album Moon Safari since the moment

UNTIL NOW!...................IT'S SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!
If I were to go to a deserted island, and I could choose between
Moby's Play and Air's Moon Safari as the only music to bring along
I would probably take Moon Safari, not that I'm not a huge Moby fan,
(people who have been on this list a bit longer know that I'm a real
Moby-addict...) but Moon Safari is so damn GREAT! :)

You know what I keep telling myself? That I need to date a woman who enjoys
music & movies as much as I do. I talk about music and movies with my friends
all the time. Why can't I date a woman who enjoys these things? I always end up
dating someone who is a very nice person, but I have nothing in common with so
it doesn't last very long.
That's why I enjoy this list. Everyone REALLY is INTO music of one kind or
another (for the most part). It doesn't HAVE to be Moby, but it's nice to see.
