  45. ...concerning the alcohol question...-i'm a vegan because i do not
  46. agree with the way the meat,dairy industry is run. i think it's a
  47. disgusting and destructive system to all concerned,(animals, consumers,
  48. the environment)...i think that if i lived in a society were we
  49. personally raised small heards of animals, or hunted animals, and if i
  50. was willing to be a part of the chain and be hunted by larger prey,
  51. then i would feel consciously able to eat animal products. alcohol is
  52. sort of the same issue because if you use too much you are doing harm
  53. to yourself and most likely things around you. i don't think that it is
  54. the same because if you use alcohol from time to time you're not really
  55. hurting anything, whereas the meat industry is causing the environment
  56. serious damage.

  182. is somewhat moby related. maybe he night even care to
  183. say something more than the info he has already
  184. provided(the cd essays). but if you do take it off
  185. list i'm interested in atleast hearing what you have

  187. vegan,then veggie...and now do the occasional fish &

  259. OK...  First off, I apologize to those listers who don't want to hear / read 
  260. about this stuff.  I didn't realize what a can of worms I was opening by 
  261. mentioning this subject...

  263. COMMERCIAL (not home brewers, I'm sure) alcohol manufactuers often (I'm sure 
  264. not ALL of them, or NOT ALL the time...) have been known to use egg whites, 
  265. isinglass (from fish), and animal blood (yuk!) to make beer and wine.

  267. The other thing that I see as contradictory w/ being vegan and drinking is 
  268. that animals are repeatedly forced to consume HUGE amounts of alcohol for 
  269. various "tests."  Almost (almost) assuredly if you are vegan, you are against 
  270. animal abuse.  How can you be for animal rights, yet support pregnant monkeys 
  271. being forced to drink tons of alcohol just to see what kind of deformities it 
  272. will cause in their offspring?  Plus, Anheisur-Busch sponsors shows at Sea 
  273. World, and both Coors and Miller beers sponsor professional rodeos.  Every 
  274. time you buy these products, you support those kinds of activites, in one 
  275. form or fashion.

  277. So, that's it.  Animal testing / rights / veganism / vegetarianism are ALL 
  278. topics with very personal feelings behind them.  If you don't agree with 
  279. anything I've said, that's fine.  I am the least militant veg - straightedge 
  280. guy you'll ever meet.  But, since SO many people asked for the info, I went 
  281. ahead and posted to the list.

  346. Alrighty Moby fans....I cheated!!!  I went to the CD now place and listened 
  347. to the Real Audio samples of all the songs on Play...to be honest, I was kind 
  348. of dissapointed....maybe they were terrible exerpts, but the only song I 
  349. liked was "Everloving"....the others just did not seem to have any feeling or 
  350. emotion to it...it was just some cheasy beat with a guitar lick and some 
  351. mumbled words....PLEASE TELL ME I AM WRONG!!!!!!!!  I have been waiting for 
  352. this album since the last one came out....I am sure I will still like it, but 
  353. I don't think it will ever equal his previous albums if these RA samples tell 
  354. the truth....oh well...later all!

  359. it...if Play is an expansion beyond AR while keeping it in the

  388. YOU ARE WRONG!!!!!!!! :)  You can't judge an album by some crappy
  389. 30-second RealAudio bits.  They just don't do it justice or give
  390. you a true idea of the real feeling of the album, or even in most
  391. cases the song.  I recommend that you buy _Play_ as soon as it is
  392. released.  Even if it's not your favorite Moby album, I think you
  393. will probably find it quite good and enjoyable.

  395. And _Play_, BTW, is very different from _Animal Rights_.  It's
  396. not an "expansion" of any previous album, but a free-standing
  397. work of unique excellence.  [er, that came out funny. <g>]

  612. growing my own psychedelics and vegetables and be as 
  613. self-sufficient as possible. Then you know exactly what 
  614. you're consuming and it's probably a lot better for you, 
  615. the environment and the living creatures around us. 
  616. However, easier said than done (well, growing your own 
  617. food).
