...concerning the alcohol question...-i'm a vegan because i do not
agree with the way the meat, dairy industry is run. i think it's a
disgusting and destructive system to all concerned,(animals, consumers,
the environment)...i think that if i lived in a society were we
personally raised small heards of animals, or hunted animals, and if i
was willing to be a part of the chain and be hunted by larger prey,
then i would feel consciously able to eat animal products. alcohol is
sort of the same issue because if you use too much you are doing harm
to yourself and most likely things around you. i don't think that it is
the same because if you use alcohol from time to time you're not really
hurting anything, whereas the meat industry is causing the environment
serious damage.

easy to get a hold of ingredients and info on
production. so i would really like to know what this
thing about fish bones and the like is all about. and
it does relate a little as many people are drawn to
moby by his stance on the treatment of animals(at
least it seems like that's what i keep hearing on the
list). so anywhoo! privately would be fine too if it's
not difficult.

NOT AT ALL!!!! It's an environmentalism thing, it's an animal rights
thing, it's a "humans aren't the only species on the earth, they just act
like it" thing, and for some people it's a religious thing (Christians,
too). Before the fall everyone ate plant stuff exclusively, from what
I've read of the bible. The only thing I recall god giving to starving
people off the top of my head was manna (but it _has_ been a while),
which is bread, I think. I'd _LOVE_ to continue this discussion with you

about how non-moby oriented this is.

dang! i'm really interested in this! and i think it
is somewhat moby related. maybe he night even care to
say something more than the info he has already
provided(the cd essays). but if you do take it off
list i'm interested in atleast hearing what you have
to say(everyone that is). i was once veggie, then
vegan, then veggie...and now do the occasional fish &
poultry thing. it's something i am having a very hard
time with right now. trying to decide....so that's
all!

Subject: (mobility) alcohol info... (off list subject)
Mobyfans...
OK... First off, I apologize to those listers who don't want to hear / read
about this stuff. I didn't realize what a can of worms I was opening by
mentioning this subject...
COMMERCIAL (not home brewers, I'm sure) alcohol manufactuers often (I'm sure
not ALL of them, or NOT ALL the time...) have been known to use egg whites,
isinglass (from fish), and animal blood (yuk!) to make beer and wine.
The other thing that I see as contradictory w/ being vegan and drinking is
that animals are repeatedly forced to consume HUGE amounts of alcohol for
various "tests." Almost (almost) assuredly if you are vegan, you are against
animal abuse. How can you be for animal rights, yet support pregnant monkeys
being forced to drink tons of alcohol just to see what kind of deformities it
will cause in their offspring? Plus, Anheisur-Busch sponsors shows at Sea
World, and both Coors and Miller beers sponsor professional rodeos. Every
time you buy these products, you support those kinds of activites, in one
form or fashion.
So, that's it. Animal testing / rights / veganism / vegetarianism are ALL
topics with very personal feelings behind them. If you don't agree with
anything I've said, that's fine. I am the least militant veg - straightedge
guy you'll ever meet. But, since SO many people asked for the info, I went
ahead and posted to the list.
In respect to other listers, this will be that last post on this subject I'll
make on the list. I don't mind discussing it in personal e-mail if you like.
Oh yeah... MOBY!

Alrighty Moby fans....I cheated!!! I went to the CD now place and listened
to the Real Audio samples of all the songs on Play...to be honest, I was kind
of dissapointed....maybe they were terrible exerpts, but the only song I
liked was "Everloving"....the others just did not seem to have any feeling or
emotion to it...it was just some cheasy beat with a guitar lick and some
mumbled words....PLEASE TELL ME I AM WRONG!!!!!!!! I have been waiting for
this album since the last one came out....I am sure I will still like it, but
I don't think it will ever equal his previous albums if these RA samples tell
the truth....oh well...later all!
- -Fil
P.S.-I was never a big fan of Animal Rights and it took me over a year to buy
it...if Play is an expansion beyond AR while keeping it in the
"Rock-Elctronica" genre, then maybe that is why I did not find the RA samples
so wonderful....Okely Dokely....bye!

YOU ARE WRONG!!!!!!!! :) You can't judge an album by some crappy
30-second RealAudio bits. They just don't do it justice or give
you a true idea of the real feeling of the album, or even in most
cases the song. I recommend that you buy _Play_ as soon as it is
released. Even if it's not your favorite Moby album, I think you
will probably find it quite good and enjoyable.
And _Play_, BTW, is very different from _Animal Rights_. It's
not an "expansion" of any previous album, but a free-standing
work of unique excellence. [er, that came out funny. <g>]

health and Christianity
Mother, it's not even 8 o'clock!
The most dumb thing of Humans is that they think that they are NOT animals.
That is the first thing they must realize. And animals dont have religions.
(Except ants, but i tell you later)
The second conception that is false, and this is an OLD one....
that is that humans think that god, if there is something like that, created
this whole Universe just for US...
This stupid thought is called ethnocentricity... very dangerous disease...
increased by drinking beer...
If there is some sort of 'intelligence' that created this universe (out of
what?)
than this must be so abnormally NON-human, that you better dont think about it;
but it wasn't created for US!!!
Let's be animals...
for most animals the SUN is god, for lower animals even the Earth...
let's stick to that, it's bigger than we can handle so far!
have a nice day
