From what I've heard he's not that anti-drinking any more.
(he used to be though..) Here's a quote from an interview Michael Matos
(also a list member) did with Moby.
About what he likes to do besides making music Moby said:
"Politics, architecture. Those are two biggies. And simple things like
hanging out with my friends, going out and having dinner, and getting drunk
occasionally."

I really like Air! I have the rare 'Le soleil est prΦs de moi' EP and other
singles.
It's a shame that out of Europe hardly anybody knows them.

I disagree. I think when Moby writes his essays, he is writing for the fans
of his music and, in particular, the fencesitters who only focus on the
music and are too lazy to get into the politics. And what is "Beautiful
Music" anyway? I think (early 80's) Cocteau Twins are extremely beautiful
but my girlfriend thinks they're dark & depressing.

What the hell? I just got a new job at which we are forced to listen to
this cheezy modern rock station, "Hits 106" And they end up playing 2
Fatboy Slim tracks, touting him as an artist and even doi8ng a short
interview?!?!
You may not like him, (even I admit his first album was a hellovalot
better) but what the fuck?!?! Modern rock radio giving FBS so much
attention? What's up with that? I hardly think this is an indication
that "electronica" is reaching mainstream in the US but this is just
damned weird.
Any comments on this?

12 bucks I paid for the CD alone!

Yeah, "Disk" really filled my life with a lot of stress for a few days
after I first bought it. Luckily "Shining" was such a wonderful song that
I could listen to it and calm down inbetween computer crashes. And then it
turns out that the ever-wonderful site, moby.org, has some info on the
matter. Check out http://www.moby.org/reviews/disk.html. I ended up
getting my computer see the list of movie files and so on, but the whole
presentation was still a bit messed up. That was good enough for me
though--I just created an HTML page with links to the files on the cd-rom
so that I could see which video I wanted. Let me know if you want that.
Good luck.

Do you not have play? Or does no one consider any of those songs ambient

<Chris Kloehr> Hey I loved his older stuff too, and still love putting his
disks in every once in a while. But it seems that "most" people on this
list say it is because he has "Sold Out", which I totally disagree with.
Hey - he is having a great time at what he does, and he is making a hell of
alot of money for it too. Isnt that the idea?

i really like the version of GO on I LIKE TO SCORE,
it's very up and energetic. but where does it come
from. was it really ever on a soundtrack, or in a
movie? i'm a little confused.
fatboy slim..hmmmm...i think he has "sold out" or has
BEEN sold out, but still like his music a lot. and he
does seem to be having an awfully good time!
DISK. yikes. that's an awful lot of work. has moby put
out any video compilations? if yes..i have'nt been
able to find. if no. why?
on the whole electronica/modern rock thing. it's only
in america that they are so sepreated. electronica is
really big on charts all over the world. but here
we're still waiting for that big "break through-cross
over" to happen. i thought EIW was going to be it.
then i thought maybe the prodigy...nothing more to say
about them..although they did sell a lot of records. i
keep waiting...june looks good though. moby and
orbital released here in the states. maybe the new
chemical brothers-i here it's really good.
whatever..as long as people keep putting out good
music, is'nt that all that really matters?
AIR are really really good! but shh! don't tell
anyone.
i think(or feel)that the essay's moby writes are
simply there because he is allowed to right them and
print them in his cd's. if people listen and take
something from it-so be it. atleast they read it and
thought about some real issues for a couple of
minutes. even if they don't agree. but if they never
EVER read the essays, theres still all those cd's full
of good music.
list member profiles? what am i missing? i'm sure it
has something to do with moby.org right? someone give
me the 411, please. but hey chip, i'm 27 also. and
been listening to mobt since the begining as well. but
where are these member profiles?
yikes!! loss of hearing!! that would so be the worst
sense to loose i think!
ok-i really am having a hard time finding the EIW with
underwater. anybody willing to tape? i'll send the
tape in advance with return envelope.
um..who or what is this "faithless" people keep
talking about.
ok-enough!
thanks!

im not a hundred percent sure but i think its because the
certain mix used the theme from Twin Peaks, which was a tv
show and also a movie.
But i dont think it actually appeared in any movies, especially
twin peaks.
