OKay, I haven't been reading too much on the list these past few days but
I do know that it will be released on the 17th, by Mute right?
Is this a US release or just a UK release?

Play release in USA is June 1
BTW - I just bought the HONEY/RUN ON US Single (8 songs) at HMV on my
lunch hour which I listened to on my walk back to work. I like the new
HOney Remixes (not on Part. 1 & 2 I think). Who's this Sharam Jay guy?
He's good. The remixes he does for Run on & Honey are nice.
I also noticed that Memory Gospel (one of my faves) is listed as 9:03
but doesn't play that long. Weird huh? It only plays to about 6:44 or
so (Just like Honey Part 1??). Guess they just goofed it!

Matthino, you definately have a unique misprint. I know that Moby & SSF are
different, but they do share some of the same tracks. That's what I'd said.
Does anybody else have Moby or SSF CDs that are on Pinnacle? I wonder if
that's a sublicense through Equator for Europe...
Chris, the 17th is the UK release and June 1st is the US.
Bart, I'll post the answers tomorrow. I'd like to see if anybody answers
them first. :)
I was asking about foreplay earlier, and now I get to answer my own
question! My sister grabbed me a free magazine called UR chicago that has a
two page Moby interview in it. I can't transcribe the whole thing right now,
but here's a couple excerpts.
UR: The track "South Side" is publicized as a "feel-good" song, but I took
from it a feeling of danger and doom...
Moby: Oh good, that's what it's supposed to do.
UR: What is that song really about?
Moby: Most of these songs are specific but ambiguous at the same time. The
scenario for the song is kind of about - it's going to sound really dumb -
but a sort of post apocolyptic bunch of kids out joyriding. It's supposed to
be a juxtaposition of sorts. Melodically, it's a very happy song. But for me
it's a lot darker.
UR: I read a message you wrote on www.moby.org in which you suggest there
were some esoteric reasons for calling the album Play. What are they?
Moby: Well, on one hand it's that I really like to play. I guess that's not
very esoteric, but playing is fun. Whether it's playing music or volleyball
or playing with dogs or Monopoly. For example, last weekend I was in Sweden
with my ex-girlfriend and we were walking around the city and having a
really nice time. But for me, the highlight of the day was we found these
old sticks and we were hitting pieces of gravel with the sticks at each
other. It was so much fun. My life would be a lot richer if I spent more
time playing.

Subject: (mobility) moby club at yahoo
Hello everybody,
I've been a Yahoo Moby club member for almost 2 months now,
and (I know.....I'm sorry) I haven't posted even 1 message..
I always forget about my Yahoo account, and often I don't have
the time for it, so I decided to quit my membership there.
Sorry guys...
The Moby club was my only connection to Yahoo, and now I
want to completely unsubscribe from Yahoo. Is this possible?
And if so, how should I do that?
I've tried the HELP link on Yahoo, but I can't find an answer there.
Thanks!

Pinnacle is as I have taken it is the Instinct Records over seas label. I
have a copy of what your talking about and on the back is a sticker which
says made in Great Britain. It is sometimes catagorised as SSF because of
its UK background, and has the same track listing. However, the CD is still
seen as an Instinct product therefore it has a self titled cover like it's
american counterpart.
As for the songs, it is 100% wrong, Pinnacle does have the songs for the
re-issue of SSF on the cd itself, while the cover only states the song
listings for an older version.
A friend of mine has a SSF cd with the proper song titles including 2
covers of GO, and a new version of Next is the E (I feel it). Mine is the
same cd only with a track listing from an older version of SSF, which they
changed right after it came out to make it different from the american
release. I assume they didn't bother changing the out side cover of all the
cds to save some money. It might be a rare find, to get one but is such a
minimal mistake I would hardly classify it as a collectors item.
Cdnow even lists the songs for SSF as this:
1. Everything 2. Yeah 3. Electricity 4. Next is the E 5. Mercy 6. Go
7. Help me to belive 8. Have you seen my baby 9. Ah Ah 10. Slight Return
11. Stream 12. Thousand
.....but underneath the listings tells you about a re-issue for SSF which
contains different songs.....which is what you (and I) have with Pinnacle
my friend. Phew!
Been a long time since I posted to the list. Trying to keep up though, it's
great to see so many new people on here as well. I'll try to keep my posts
more current from now.

hey MOBY, if you are reading this, DO YOU WATCH SIFL
AND OLLY??????? IT IS THE BEST SHOW ON TELEVISION EVEN
IF IT IS ON MTV!!!!
this is cool, that MOBY posted to the list. MATT
CROCCO and LIAM LYNCH (aka SIFL AND OLLY,
respectively) both post to the S&O list (matt
ocasionally, liam regularly)
ROCK!
oh yes, on the S&O list, they are always talking about
calling Total Request Live and requesting Sifl And
Olly songs on TRL. We've tried to do this a few times
before, but they nbever played them, probly cuz they
arent actually real videos. But Moby has real videos,
so why dont we request them?
Why don't we go to the Total Request website one day
and just keep voting for the "Run On" video for like
an hour or so each? I'm pretty sure if everyone on the
list, or at least most of us did that, it would surely
get on. okay? isnt that cool? then more people would
see Moby and get PLAY when it comes out.
also, has anyone heard the new song "Here With Me" by
DIDO? there's one part in it that sounds a LOT like
some certain song of LITTLE IDIOT (i cant say which
one, Rod Richardson, WPKN DJ, is still borrowing my
copy of AR/LI, AMbient, and the Blur Remix cd... plus
my KLF tape, snd that KNitting Factory compilation...)
anyway, if someone hears this, remark on it ok? the
song is on the CD that comes with the new issue of CMJ
NMM, which for some reason has DJ RAP on the cover.
bye!!!!

Yep, it was Memory Gospal by Moby. In the past few months we have seen
Adidas run an ad campaign which included Moby, Fatboy Slim, and one or two
others that I didn't recognize. If you go back into the archives at
Moby.org, a bit before you got here their was this discussion about the ad,
and what word was it now--oh yeah 'sell-out'. A continous theme here at
Mobility.

Didn't you know? Hmm, you must have joined the list just after the
adidas messages here. Yes, the song you mean is by Moby (I think
this adidas thing started all the "selling out" messages...)
The song is called "Memory Gospel" and it is on:
- - Honey (pt1) UK CD, Mute, CDMute218
- - Honey/Run On US CD, V2, 63881-27583-2

thanks eric & brett!! i have not heard memory gospel
yet. i liked it a lot! and is'nt fat boy slim doing
music for like 70% percent of all commercials.
anyway-my crappy story for the year so far...i ordered
the double cd animal rights, both honey singles and the
green lopez cd(i forgot the name)...so the place i
ordered said they prefered to send ups ground. i was
cool with that-my roommate gets stuff left on our
doorstep from ups all the time. so i kept waitin..and
waiting..and then i get this postcard that says they
need an apartment number. huh? i live in a condo
complex and don't have an apartment ##-and as i
said-we get stuff from ups all the time. so i call
them and tell them that three days in a row..and then
yesterday i call and the ups lady smuggly tells me
they delivered to mu doorstep on thursday at 3:35-i
was home at 4:00-no package! so i have an unscrupulous
neighbor who now has 5 good moby cd's. and i'm out
$53.00 dollars. damn!! i was really looking forward to
hearing those cd's-very sad:(
hi bart-thank you too! and i did miss the previous
conversation about the commercial it seems. but to
eric i did think it went well with the images. and to
everybody-trying to look past the sellout issue-what
do you think about hearing your favorite artists in
television commercials. i think it's very strange. and
i don't think that it would ever make me go buy some
adidas(or whatever there trying to sell). i look at it
more as a little video. but the song is the artists
property and i guess they should be able to do
whatever they want with it.
