i think it's kinda funny that you mention Disney, cuz I went down there
last June to visit my roommate from last year (she works there in the
summer) and I discovered that it is nearly impossible to get a veg meal
there....i feel terribly sorry for any vegan who ventures down there....i
ended up getting a chef salad and picking out the cubes of meat...it was
the best I could do.
On the Moby tip, i made my dj debut at a party up here at school, and I
played honey...and the crowd of 6 or 7 people really liked it =]
it was 4 AM, i was drunk (there was an all day block party up here and 39
people got arrested including my boyfriend), and pretty miserable...(it
was only my third time on the technics so I'm sure you can just imagine,
but I had the BEST time throwing some Moby on and making my 7 friends
dance around.
i'm such a dork.

Subject: (mobility) Moby | Play
Hey Kids,
I just got an advance of Play in the mail a couple of days ago. I decided to
wait a couple of days to post my review, to get a balanced overview of the
record, rather than a rash first impression.
Like all of Moby's records for the last five years, Play defies
categorization. The album seamlessly mixes ambient textures with elements of
blues, r&b, gospel, hip-hop, funk, and techno. The end result is a record
that crosses a wide sonic palette while presenting an amazingly consistent
stylistic image. Experiments in big beat get an extra boost from funk guitar
riffs. Bouncy house piano lines percolate over simmering hip-hop beats and
soulful gospel vocals. There is a highly natural flow to the record, a
departure from Moby's often chaotic, nearly randomly arranged CDs. Play
presents a gradual, emotional transition from buoyant, soulful pop to lush,
dark, contemplative ambiance.
Play is a very emotional, spiritual album. It is almost melancholy or
broken-spirited, searching for love, peace, forgiveness, redemption, what
have you. If you "Run On" when "The Sky Is Broken", you may wonder "Why Does
My Heart Feel So Bad?" And your "Natural Blues" will leave you lamenting "My
Weakness", wishing "If Things Were Perfect." But there are moments of joy,
like when you "Find My Baby" and start "Everloving" to the "Body Rock" with
your "Honey", "Rushing" to the "South Side." But when the "Guitar, Flute &
String" have been silenced, the "Machete" moves "Down Slow" and threatens to
cut you "Inside," leaving you cold as "Porcelain."
There is a lot of life to this record, which makes Play increasingly
satisfying with each listen. When the blues/funk or songs like "Honey" and
"Run On" have been played out, it's easy to move on to the big beat/techno
of "BodyRock" or "Machete" or the "stone stew" pop of "South Side" and
"Porcelain." There is a wealth of contrasting sounds at work here, all
pulling together for a well-realized, consistent and engaging whole, making
Play by far one of Moby's most entertaining and endearing albums.
RIYL: Beastie Boys, Beck, Primitive Radio Gods, Fat Boy Slim, Crystal
Method, Underworld, old blues and gospel.

Here is a bit of official info on Moby's upcoming events:

As well as the show for 104FM in Hartford, Moby will be performing at a
WHFS show in Washington, DC on May 29. Other radio dates will follow -
we will forward details ASAP.

BTW, I've been really busy with school for the past month and a half.
This is the last week of the semester, and there's so much to do...
As a result, I haven't been able to keep up with this list much. I
have 178 unread messages in my inbox, plus some personal emails I
should reply to. Just wanted to let y'all know what's up, and that
I'm not intentionally ignoring anyone.
BTW2, yesterday in my speech class, I delivered a commemorative speech
on our favorite vegan musician. Maybe someone in the class will check
him out.
BTW3, _Play_ is an excellent album. It's almost here, folks! And I
love it. Everybody should pick up a copy of the "Run On" (or Honey/
Run On) single. No matter which version you buy (UK CD or LCD, US CD)
you'll find some really good tracks.

Daniel, you have made my semester!!!!!!! My sister got the HFStival tickets
last Saturday morning.......of course, then, we had no idea Moby was
playing, we were just happy to be seeing the CHilli Peppers...!
The thing that i hate to break to everyone, though, in the midst of my
own euphoria, is that the HSF show is SOLD OUT. it sold out in about 90
minutes last Saturday. The station is going to be giving away hundreds of
tickets, though, for those who live in the DC-Baltimore area...

Ok, I will tell you now that this is ridiculous, and I am sure some tightass
is going to get pissed off at this, but I need the answer and I need it kind
of quick. Can someone please give me the Lyrics to the songs "Eanie Meanie
Mynie (how do you spell "my knee") Moe...." Please! I can't remember the
ending.
Anyway, so no one has a reason to complain, I first wanted to say I am kind of
pised that Moby is playing the HFStival. I very much dislike that station and
plus I won't be home to see it. I never heard them play any Moby before - just
prodigy, and that was only Fat of the Land crap. But, it is OK because finally
I will be able to see Moby on the 31st! I have a feeling that the NY show
later that day will be the main event though, and I don't mind that bit. I'll
get to eat a real bagel for the first time since August. Anyway, someone
please tell me that song! Thanks. Later.

Well, I don't think Moby needs to promote his new album
after that! So the bastard can come back and play The Scala
in May! I'm pretty pissed off with that, if you can't tell.
The tickets arrived yesterday to rub salt in the wound.

Held at Studio 450, a New York City penthouse loft overlooking the Hudson
River, the Electribe-Live Event will be simulcast live with the assistance of
sputnik7.com online broadcasts at http://www.sputnik7.com/electribe-live. The
broadcast will be live from 8:30pm to 10:30pm Eastern Time, and will be

occurs!
Performers will include Palm Pictures recording artist and DJ, Mocean Worker,
whose single "Detonator" from his new LP Mixed Emotional Features, is #1 on
the RPM charts for four weeks. Tower Pulse! exclaims about Mocean Worker's
unique hybrid style in a four star review, "Jazz and dance music make uneasy
bedfellows ... which makes the accomplishments of Mixed Emotional Features
even more remarkable!"
Electro-funk musicians Expansion Union will also perform using the Electribe
dance tools. Blending a variety of musical techniques, including live
instrumentation, turntablism and recorded electronic music, Expansion Union's
accomplishments include the track "Playing with Lightening" on the critically
acclaimed Blade soundtrack. Their newest album, World Wide Funk, will be
released on TVT/Wax Trax records this week!
We hope you can join the many musicians, DJs, reporters, editors and all of
us at Korg as we experience the beat of the new Electribe DSP Analog Dance
Tools in their element.

Down Slow (Full Length)
Let me tell you boys & girls Moby kicks butt. OKay, you have seen reviews up

Spirit kicks major ass (if only it was longer!)!
Sunday is out of this world! Sound system Rockin!
Either one would make great remixes.
So anyway, I would say go out and spend some money! They're great. Wish the
album was coming out soon. BTW - If anyone wants a recording, just let me
know. I don''t have a CD burner, but I can tape em for you. Can't wait for
May 31! Good job Moby. Run on is also refreshing.
