Subject: (mobility) Rolling stone's review of Moby sucked!
Here is the disgusting blurb from Rolling stone about my FAVORITE cd:
"Moby's first major-label album didn't seem promising at first- a bald
little techno dude trying his arty hand at pop-song form, new-age movie
music, and blues-metal guitar. But Everything is Wrong turned out to be
one amazing record, mixing up styles with earnest curiosity and that rarest
of techno-dude traits, a sense of humor. 'Feeling so Real' and 'Everytime
you touch me' are stunning disco(?) anthems, while the mellow passages roam
from Eno-like lyricism to classical gas. Moby buzzes with excitement, a
christian club kid who can't stop raving about the DJ who saved his life
last night and can't wait to tell the story in sounds."
If you couldn't tell, this totally pisses me off, but then again- Rolling
stone doesn't understand electronic music. This "bald little techno dude"
is the most unbelieveable person whose incredible compassion and empathy
are easily seen even from LINER NOTES. DJ shadow got a bigger spread than
MOBY! I like DJ shadow, but c'mon! His music rarely if ever touches my
soul. The only Drum 'n' bass producer that DOES touch my soul is Rob
Haigh(Omni Trio). I don't count Aphex twin and Mu-ziq 'cause they aren't
strictly drum 'n' bass.
Hope everyone enjoys reading this.

Seriously? Moby will be at Woodstock 99? I was going to get tickets but
there was nobody I really really wanted to see...(although there are a lot
of great bands.) But if MOBY is going to be there....is he performing or
just roaming around? Where did you get this info? Please get back to
me!!!! This is good news!!!!
thanx in advance,

Hello everybody!
The split single coming up from V2 is pretty neat looking. The cover
shows both of the recent UK #1 CDs sitting on a wood surface.
(maybe a new workbench?) (orange pumpkin cover, mousetrap w/ red
background cover) You can see the grain and the knots in the wood
clearly. The Honey single is on top, in the center, and the Run On
single is on the bottom, also center. In the upper left it says 2XMOBY
is big letters, and HONEY RUN ON is smaller letters underneath. The
letters are all in the new Moby block font, and all are also black
except for MOBY which is brown.
The CD itself is chocolate brown, (milk not dark) and the copyright
info & MOBY are in strawberry milkshake pink. HONEY RUN ON is in
white. (vanilla, perhaps?)
Maybe that remix album for Play that Moby has mentioned should be
called FOOD. Better yet, FLAVOR. There's Honey, (pumpkin pie, pumpkin
seeds) Run On, (ketchup & mustard), and now the split single.
(chocolate, strawberry, & vanilla)
For those of you who have already bought both Honey & Run On UK CDs,
this CD still has something of interest to you. Sharam Jey's Sweet
Honey mix was previously only on 12", and the Moby Young & Funky Mix
of Run On was only on a promo CD and the commercial release 12" which
came out yesterday. Also, Sharam Jey's Always On The Run mix is
otherwise only on the German 12", which also released yesterday. It's
nice to see these mixes on CD, because so many great remixes get lost
in obscurity because of vinyl only releases.
1. Honey (Album Mix) 3:27
2. Honey (Moby's 118 Mix) 4:48
3. Honey (Sharam Jey's Sweet Honey Mix)6:41
4. Honey (Aphrodite & Mickey Finn Mix) 6:21
5. Run On (extended) 4:25
6. Run On (Moby's Young & Funky Mix) 6:03
7. Run On (Sharam Jey's Always On The Run Remix) 5:59
8. Memory Gospel 9:03
Oh yeah, it's got a little Play sticker on the cellophane.
The Honey / Run On 12" doesn't have a picture sleeve, unlike the UK
12"s. Theres a big sticker along the top, though, and it's in a
silver/white/grey V2 sleeve. It feels like a 180 gram pressing, it's
very thick and heavy vinyl. It has the same color scheme on the
sticker (the milkshake flavor/colors) and it also has the same little
PLAY in stores June 1 sticker that the CD has.
I'll review the CD soon, it'll be a lengthy post.

we all have room to improve, right? (pointing to myself)

Okay, I think we've all had enough of this subject now.
I don't mind Chris saying he didn't understand, Bart. But I
think small-mindedness should be condemned and I don't
think it's very 'brave' as you put it. It's easy to
condemn people who are different though. It was insulting
to me anyways. I was wrong to retaliate, but I also wanted
to try to get some understanding because many people have
completely the wrong idea and condemn gay people to hell
for it! That's what really pisses me off. It's not too hard
to understand when you try and listen.
However, I accept Chris' apology and if he's not too scared
to write to me in private, then I can try and explain (if
he wants to understand). But if he doesn't want to, then
that's fine too. We've still got freedom of choice, I hope?

hi there.
so i was bored again and i made a moby cursor that is like the one on the
http://moby.org/fans.html except i made it for a winamp skin i've been
working on for a long time only i found that winamp does not support
animated cursors. imo, the cursor is cool as hellfrozovr. it's green. it's
the old moby logo. when it spins there are lighting effects that make it
reflect lighter and darker it looks and is very 3d. made it with xara3d,
macromedia flash, & some randomly downloaded icon makin program. it was
made with the technobats font i downloaded a while back from some NIN page.
if you downloaded the oldr cursor and use it i suggest you look at the one
i've made.
it is a zipped/animated cursor about 16kb.
http://members.tripod.com/~g0Dzinx/manicur.zip
i have yet to make a web page to host it.
i'm very curious as to thanks II's what and whenabouts. the track i
submitted or mentioned i'm not so sure is very worthy a track for me to
submit so i retract it. to i think about it i made it in only a few hours
(0k maybe like five) because i remember having said i would submit a track
and that i haven't followed up on it at least as some may have noticed or
not. it dont convey the respect i have for his work. it is the first track
that i have actually "finished".
if you haven't heard it or downloaded it and are considering-
http://members.tripod.com/~g0Dzinx/gu-hymn.mp3
i'm going to remove it from my server in a day or two. of course i would
like to hear opinions on it even if you think it is no thing. hell. just
if you like it or not? you can add it to the bottom of your post to
mobility or a short personal? it would probably mean a lot to me.
i have heard nothing of thanks II in a while. i know that Ade is still
accepting cover/insert art submissions @:
http://picard.anderson.edu/~adekunle/mobility/
personally i dont mind at all how long this is taking. it gives me a chance
to make something better for it. as time passes i'm growing more and more
when it comes to music more then i can believe sometimes-much thanks to MOBY
and this list.
so?..
is anybody willing to talk about tracks they're thinkin' about submitting?
have any samples. i really want to hear something or see that somebody
still has t2 or maybe even 3 on their minds.
- ---
i can't wait to hear a longer version of Down Slow.
moby's growing up i think. the beauty and innocence or feeling he can
convey is amazing. i can't wait to hear music of his if/when\after he has a
kid.

I'm with you a 100% on this one. Sure, i read the liners, but then i
go eat a hamburger. It just so happens that I saw Moby at the House of Blues
and really liked his music and started to buy his CD's. I really think that
some people on this list read too deeply into his music, but hey, why not? If
someone enjoys it and can do it, more power to them. I know that I don't post
very often, and it's because I don't analyze his music and/or lifestyle. I
think that people should just chill out, turn off the lights, lay down, and
enjoy Moby's music for what it is, music, really great music.
Thanks

Yo Matos,
You are the man!!!!
Any one who has to take the shit that Chris is dealing
out of his arse, has got to be stupid!
Man what does it matter if your gay or stright you are
here for one reason and one reason only.
The way that I see it gay bashing (which is what I saw
this as), can only lead to hurt and as we have seen in
the past the passing of a person who has done no harm
to you at all. You know it kills me how some people
will stand up for some of the things that Moby says
and writes about and then back down when they dont see
it PC to agree.
Hey Chris FUCK YOU, man I have seen bigger brains come
from my cat.
Have a nice life, Karma catches up mighty quick.

Subject: (mobility) what are you people doing????
as i stated in previous post-i have been listening
since last night....and i am blown away!! you are not
getting it!!
ok-i'll get back to that. but first, a little about
who
i am and what lead me to this list.
i have been listening to moby since way back..i bought
the go 12" singles as they came out. i obsessed over
the mans music for years. up until animal rights-and
then i lost interest. mostly i think because i just
needed a moby break-but partly becasue i just didnt
like it as much as anything else he had done. still
have'nt purchased i like to score either-i have a lot
of it already. but i heard honey and loved it-and have
now purchased run on(spirit is dope!!!) and love it
too. wjile listening to these songs i remembered how
much i loved mobys' music. i searched for moby on my
yahoo! and ended up here!! were i hope to have many
wonderful discussions about both moby's music and the
social issues which seem to be circulating around this
list.
NOW!!!!!back to the real issue here.
i am a 27 year old white heterosexual male. who
happened to get involved with a group of girls(women
now). who like to have sex with women. but
occasionally -the like to have a man(i.e. dick). that
would be me. now this lead me to try the occasional
dick myself. this has,not happened in years. and i am
still very close friends(or lover) with many of the
people involved. some of the people involved couldnt
handle it and they moved on-happily:) which is my
point-HAPPINESS!! all i see you people doing is
pointing out why your way or your view or your opinion
is better. and thats not the fuckin point. the point
is that our planet is going to shit. global
warming-deforistation-over population-landfills are
full and most of the people on this planet dont have a
clue how to recycle/reuse properly. there are hundreds
if not thousands of excuses people use to be
prejudiced-the last thing we need to be doing is
tearing each other apart for something that we do(for
the most part)in the privacy of our own homes. this
huge discussion you guys(i would use names but i dont
know everyone-or anyone-yet)have been having is all
finger pointing. turn that finger around and look at
yourself......
we all(including myself-i am not trying to be holier
than thou here)need to try and be more understanding
of all people. race,creed,color,sex,"sexual
orientation",social class(and any other stupid way you
can think of to seperate us) should not be an issue.
we are all human beings!!! wether or not someone(male
0R FEMALE!) takes it in the butt should have nothing
to do with how you deal with that person on a
individual basis(unless, of course, you want to put
it in there butt). we need to spend more time dealing
with the real issues involved in saving our planet so
that in the future there will still be a planet to
hang around on.
ok-so enough of that shit! lets be happy:) shall we!
lets talk some moby people! there is a certain vibe
about certain moby songs that gives me that certain
funny feeling inside. love to discuss this if anyone
is interested. shining-next is the e-gmotfotw-would be
three examples-all different in style-but there all
vibin'
also to respond to some of the other things i've read.
rolling stone doesnt know shit about shit
anymore!!whatever is popular is what there talking
about this week. and if they do cover something other
than mainstream rock/pop-they usually sound lame!!
that same person mentioned moby touching there soul-i
would like to throw orbital in there-the new album is
grand-check it! some orb. bjork bjork bjork!!!!!
and richard d james. not just for his stuff-but for
bringing the entire rephlex posse to the universe!!
liela makes me cry-buy her stuff. and global goon-good
stuff!
ok-if you read this far-THANKS!!! i hope to talk to
many of you for a good time to come!
right now i am at work:( wil be here until 9:00 pm pst
if anybody has time to respond this evening.
peace. love.

Hey Christian, great to have you, but do us all a favor and cool it with the
two prepost-posts that are alluding to what are coming ahead. That would be
great. And you don'thave to fix your spelling mistakes either.
Anyway, yea, the new Orbital is really good, but for me it is missing some
finishing touch. I don't know what it is. I still like Green / 1 and Brown / 2
the best. Anyway, I am going to see if the Run On has made it over to Japan
yet, as it seems to be getting decent reviews. But anyway, I am sure you will
fit in here Christian, so don't be shy (apparently your not) but don't go
crazy either. Later.
