Hi everyone,
I got a cd burner for christmas and i've been having the time of my life burning
mp3's. (just to set the record straight, I collect LIVE songs and don't have
but a few copyrighted files) I've found a lot of sites where people want to
trade cdr's of live shows in mp3 format.
I remember a LONG time ago, someone was talking about some moby bootlegs that
were floating around. If anyone would like to hook me up with some of these, i
have lots i could send back to you.
ALSO, once i got some live mp3s of moby, i would be more than happy to help
distribute them to others who wanted to hear them...
I'm mainly interested in live electronic music, so if anyone has any on cd or
cdr, let me know PLEASE!
thanks

Hi!
I asked this question a few days ago but nobody answered. So here it is again:
Who is in charge for Thanks 2? Is it too late to come with contributions? I
have a remix of ATINITBL that I'd like to have included.
Cheers,
Johan.

well, thanks for your thoughts. and the link too. If you like their
version of 'Love will tear us apart' you'll probably like 'The Burning
World'. Like I said, it's completely off the beaten path for them.
It's actually very uplifting sounding. Especially the song, 'Saved'...
they also do a fantastic cover of 'can't find my way home'. It's out of
print, but if you happen to get the chance I would recommend buying it.
you know, funny about Jarboe. they write the equivalent of
'audio-snuff' but when you talk to her she's a very kind and hospitable
person. but, I guess that's always been the case with shock-rock?
do you have any Diamanda Galas records?

Hello,
Sounds uncannily similar to how I got into Moby.
Can anyone recommend the best Lopez release - album or
single? Not heard any yet.

IMO, the best Lopez single is: Why Can't It Stop? Killer stuff!!!
And the only album is THE END OF EVERYTHING, very different from WCIS.
WCIS being very up tempo rather than down tempo. Both are essential
releases in my book. :)

"Move (You Make Me Feel So Good)". That doesn't make it very easy
to spot, because all the releases that only have the radio edit of
this track call it the same thing (except for the US 12", which
labels it correctly).
I was thinking, though, that you or whoever it was that was trying
to identify this elusive Move mix might be referring instead to the
'Sub Version' or 'Xtra Mix', both of which have notable basslines.
The 'Sub Version' is a great, hard, electronic dance track that has
a deep bassline that revs up and down similar to "Feeling So Real".
The 'Xtra Mix' is a funky track with something like a guitar making
the bassline, which is looped. This mix can only be found on 12".
> And Dan, how many tracks did you say that you think the Jap release has?
7.
BTW, I heard that Moby DJed in Austin on Saturday night. I don't
know where. Did anyone get to see him?

Well, it wasn't me who was trying to identify the track, it was me who was
looking for it. And if it is called, Move (You make me feel so good), well
then today I found it! Whoever it was, please speak up and I will go check it
out tomorrow. If it isn't that, well, then which version is it? I really want
the move sticker anyone, so I am looking to buy one. But, the thing is, this
CD has only 6 tracks:
Move (You make me feel so good)
All I want it to be loved (MV)
Morning dove
Move (Disco ...(can't read my own handwriting))
Unloved Symphany
The rain falls and the sky shudders
Could this be it? Later.

I don't think so. That looks like the regular US Move EP, which should
include the sticker, but as with all other known CD releases of Move,
"Move (You Make Me Feel So Good)" is actually the radio edit of "Move
(You Make Me Feel So Good)".
Track 4 is "Move (Disco Threat)", which is another excellent version.
Don't get me wrong -- the above EP is great. In fact, I think it is
Moby's best release ever. All the tracks are top-notch. But the
first track is a radio edit of the real mix, and unlike other radio
edits, this one fails completely to retain the wonderful buildups of
the full mix.
That's why I'm so eager to find a CD with the full 6'24" version of
"Move (You Make Me Feel So Good)". I don't think such a thing exists,
and my only hope is in this mythical 7-track Move EP from Japan or
Canada that nobody has ever actually seen.

Wondered if anyone out there was in possession of a copy of the webcast
of Fatboy Slim's live Boston set? It was 'cast about a week ago; info at

If you do have a copy (burned or taped or whatever) that I could trade
for (blank tapes if nothing else) I'd really appreciate it. And if you
haven't heard his import-only On the Floor at the Boutique, you don't
know what you're missing. The best DJ-mix CD ever. Really. (It comes out
in the US in June, tentatively.)
Thanks to all who can help; and email your reply privately, natch.

Subject: (mobility) Moby stuff on eBay
There are some nice Moby items up for auction on eBay. I would
include a link directly to them, but it won't fit within 80 columns,
so go to http://www.moby.org/merc.html and click on the "search for
Moby stuff" link under the "Auction sites" heading.
Some of the things available for auction now include:
71407314 Animal Rights promo postcard (Elektra)
72279717 Animal Rights: Live at the Splash Club promo CD
72280698 Honey UK promo CD with 6 mixes
72722331 Revolver (Australian CD with techno remixes)
None of the above listed items have any bids on them yet! And they
are starting at $2 for the postcard and $3 for each CD. The "Honey"
promo CD includes three mixes you won't find on CD anywhere else:
RJ's Mix, Bammer's Mix, and the 118 Mix by Moby (not the edited
version on the UK#2 "Honey" single).
I already have those CDs, but figured that maybe someone on this
list might be interested in them. If you're in search of things
like promo CDs, eBay is a good place to look.
I am not an employee of eBay or Moby. :)

Mine is from mute, which would make it an import, but I don't know anything
about it being any different from an american release. Even the packaging
as far as I can tell is the same. I don't know I have never looked at the
Elektra (if it is on Elektra) release closely enough to relate the two.

Yes, Ebay(www.ebay.com) does present a problem for people outside the U.S.
First you need to register, it's free, so no problem there. When you find
an item you are willing to bid on, besure to email the seller first to find
out if they are even willing to send it outside the US. Then bid wisely, as
someone who lives outside the US you can expect to pay more than others, so
you may be willing to pay less overall.

Many (most) of you are already aware of the Ultimate Moby Page.
http://www.moby.org
You can read reviews, look at pictures, get miscellaneous info, browse
the discography, or read the mobility archives there. This site is a
useful tool for finding information related to Moby. In fact, I have the
discography page bookmarked. Instead of asking the list what the Story
So Far is ten times (and getting no answer), you can look for yourself.
It's as easy as 1-2-3. Here's a track comparison of Moby (self-titled)
and Story So Far, which serves as a good example.
FYI: Both CDs have the same cover art.
Both albums have these songs: Ah-Ah, Everything, Yeah, Slight Return,
Stream, Help Me To Beleive, Mercy
Moby has: Electricity, Drop A Beat, Next Is The E, Go, Have You Seen My
Baby
The Story So Far has: I Feel It (I Feel It Mix), Drop A Beat (The New
Version), Thousand, Go (Subliminal Mix Unedited Version), Go (Woodtick
Mix)
The Story So Far vinyl is lacking "Mercy".
The Moby vinyl is lacking "Mercy" & "Stream".
Other items:
There are two releases of the EIW MIXED! REMIXED! 2CD set, but neither
is from the US. The cheaper one is most likely from the UK (Mute), and
the expensive one is probably from Germany (Mute / Intercord)I don't
know if they would look identical of not. They should on the outside, at
least. I have the German EIW/Underwater and the liner notes are arranged
differently and the CD itself has only blue & red inks on silver. I
remember my friends US EIW being flat red w/ colored letters, I think.
Also, on the German version, the essays & header bars for the essays are
black & white pages, no color. The photo pages are in full color,
however. (unlike the US EIW which has colored headers)
I might be the only one who prefers the other Lopez release over Why
Can't It Stop?. That would be Emptiness/Fucked Up. That CD is just add
water instant zombie mix.
I got the Winter 95 Reockvideo Monthly, (for $1) which has the full
videos for Hymn (This Is My Dream), Everytime You Touch Me, and Feeling
So Real. It also has a video profile, which is essentially an expanded
version of that which is found on the multimedia portion of Disk. The
other videos on there rule, too, especially the EBN. (KMFDM, Towa Tei,
EBN, & Prodigy)
Yes, Ed, Moby has 74+ CDs. There are usually 2 UK releases for each
single that are different from the 2 Europe singles which are different
from the 1 US single. With all of Moby's singles you get many, many
variations. Some only differ by one mix. Think of 'Go!' and you'll
understand.
