BLAH!!!
I'd like to complain how R U Receiving? was a re-run last friday.
Urrggg... No Honey!!! I WANT TO SEE HONEY!!! *sigh*
At least they played JBT. Gotta luv Moby's face as he's running... hehe
They also played One of the People by Adamski's Thing... cool video...
Anyway, I'm still obsessing over plastikman... i need to track down
richie's
email addy again so i can bug him about saying a few things about the
canadian musik scene for my friend's zine. i'd ask moby but well... he's
not canadian :(
oh! almost forgot. much music is playing the europe music awards tonight-
faithless and rammstein are the two acts i'll be watching for. looks to
be an interested night. but then almost none of you get much music so
it doesn't matter. okay. i'm done for the night. peace.

I think that Mp3 is a limited solution, unless evereyone would be able
to cash in. If it did happen though I would be glad and happy to
provide someone with money for a copy and their time.

mixmag 7 costs quite a bit, from what i've seen, and i've never heard it. #2
is worth getting, in my opinion, for moby and for sven, even though i like
svens section more than mobys.

my mom also likes EOE, which is a shock. she usually only listens to
leonard cohen, so i'm surprised that she likes something that's not
leonard cohen. she hasn't asked to borrow it, but she did ask who the
artist was when she walked by my room. when i told her, she was shocked
and nodded her head in approval. so.. i guess there's hope for my mom
after all. my dad doesn't seem to care much and my brother doesn't like
moby at all.. which is good because then he'd be borrowing my cd's and
never returning them! :)

I'd like to hear Moby remix (not cover!) New Order's original
version of Temptation. (not the Trainspotting one) It's one of my favorites.
For those who don't know: Thanks 1 & 2 are in progress, which means
not yet available, and when they are complete they will be available through
this list. Just sit tight. Be patient. I thought this was obvious? Sounds
like it's time to get those fingers off those delete triggers. Don't be
disheartened by the uninformed, Greg. I'm aware of where this project is at
and I appreciate very much the work you're putting into this.
My pal John works at a cigarette store and was playing Rare when a
Moby fan came in and sorta freaked out, telling John about his 60+ Moby CDs,
and how cool Moby is, etc. John mentioned that he ordered a Lopez disc and
the DJ Cake one and the guy was saying "excellent, excellent, wonderful,
great discs" I like them, but I wouldn't sing their praises that loudly. I
suppose he was just glad to see/hear somebody else listening to his favorite
musician. I understand that he's a regular there, so I'm having John invite
him to join us. We could use some enthusiasm around here.
I finally heard Micronesia & Memory Gospel yesterday! I like Memory
gospel better. In certain spots it reminds me of this one song that I can't
name, tip of my tongue-type deal. Edie Brickell maybe? I'm not sure. Does
this happen to you? Write the list and tell us what Moby songs remind you
of...
I haven't seen any mobility messages in my box all day! C'mon
people, look alive!
Scott "I love carrots/impeccably bred" won the Mute Honey contest!
He won a Honey t-shirt! You still out there? With us? Say hello, would ya?
Wish me luck. I've got this bizarre idea of mixing 'New Dawn Fades"
and U2's Discotheque. I know it'll be a disaster, but hopefully it'll be an
interesting disaster. A good attitude never hurt anybody..well, not that
many people, that is...well I hope. Have a nice weekend.

Wow! Is there a Moby remix of that song ? The only version I know is that
which is in New Order's "The best of", and in that "Blade" Soundtrack.

Almost anything is worth to listen to. You could MP3'it (at least a bit),
so we can listen to it easily.

Subject: (mobility) moby chart research......
first of all, moby should do some 80s synth pop/new wave covers. bring
on the new order/cure/billy idol/thompson twins/e 17 (uh.....i guess
im getting a little out of hand here...)
anyway, yes that would be cool. he already did ndf and a deth metal
version of whip it. maybe he should do a version of devo's version of
"i cant get no satisfaction." that would rrrrrrule.
i like orgy's cover of blue monday. its not as good as the original.
but how could any version be. moby doing ndf would just be too many
covers of that song. you cant have too many covers of a good song. as
long As the original rocks, who needs more??????
aaaaanyway, as promised, teh library got a new book about music, the
4th edition of the greayt rock discography, and it has a moby section,
and _CHART POSITIONS!!!!_
so here are some moby chart positions. all in the uk, of course, hes
never charted stateside because we suck.
Go-#46 (i couldve swore this one hit top ten...?)
I Feel It (aka NITE)/Thousand-#38
Move-#21 (singles chart...eps are singles in the uk, but sometimes
they are albums here...)
Hymn (this is my dream)/ATINITBL (HOS)-#31
FSR/NDF-#30
EYTM/Blue light...-#28
EIW-#21 album
ITB-#34
EIW Remix 2xcd-#25
Revolver-#50
AR-#38
JBT-#8
and of course it doesnt say honey yet, its not that new. that was like
top 30 or 40 or so, right?
anyway it also has some album recomendations, with a top 10 scale
based on "an amalgamation of reviews, reader opinion, and my own
opinion"-
Story so Far-6 (out of 10)
EIW-9
AR-8 (yay a good revieew or AR!!!!!)
PHAAAAAT news........
i found a keyboard at the goodwilll store for two bucks!!! TWO
BUCKS!!!! AND IT WORKS!!!!! YAY!!!!!!
it actually has a built in sampler, but the sampler part doesnt work.
but it does have some rad effects, like frequency modulation and
reverb and echo. some very aphex-ish sounds. i could make a pretty
phat trance/ambbient tape. the only thing is, it doesnt have a
beatbox, or any beats, so ill have to find beats some other way. but i
still could do some sort of moby tribute. maybe a bossa-nove version
of god moving......he he he.
bye

aah yes, i gt the new issue of cmj monthly. damn cd in it is
broken!!!!!!!! oh well. last time this happened they sent me a new

things" for 1999, the others being sleater-kinney and underworld. (all
you dirty freaks just in case you don't know, th new album is
completely finished, its as yet untitiled, and it wil be out on V2
sometime early next year....if you need a transcript of the interview,
just email me PRIVATELY)
anyway, every issue they have this mixtape feature, send them a cool
mixtape tracklisting, and if they pick it and publish it, you win
shit, like a minidisc recorder and 10 minidiscs. how this for a mix:

Amnesia-drop down
jon spencer blues explosion-bellbottoms
r.l. burnside-let my baby ride
beastie boys-professot booty
money mark-maybe im dead
railroad jeerk-bang the drum
they might be giants-nightgown of the sullen moon
screamin jay hawkins-frenzy
phish-alumni blues
jasper and the prodigal sons-sincerely jasper
janes addiction-of course
Side Two:
Elliott smith-independence day
screaming trees-dying days
supergrass-sometimes i make you sad
modest mouse-karma payment
cornershop-sleep on the left side
st. johnny-scuba diving
southern culture on the skids-red beans n reverb
thirston moore-ono soul
tori amos-blood roses
hayden-skates
MOBY-NOW I LET IT GO
pizzicato5-happy birthday
whew!!!!! proof that someone in kalispell, montana has good taste.
there was another mix someone did that had "first cool hive" on it.
but the best mix was one a few months ago that had roni size and
madonna and pet shop boys and tricky and all sorts a goodies.....id
buy it if i saw it in a store. or of course i could search for all the
cds at wpkn, which btw, i will be starting dj training a next week
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so ill be playing lots a moby, no doubt. but not no doubt. well, come
to think of it, i might play no doubt. but ill definitely be playing
lots of deejay punk-roc and dr. octagon and orbital, hendrix, klf,
trance, beatles, stereolab, maybe some negativland,
soundgarden, beasties, nirvana, sun ra, etc.
hmmmmmm........well, i guess this is goodbye aint it?
