Well since I dont know really what is
going on with the Thanks 2 compilation,
I've decided to upload one of my remixes
to my webpage.
Its very temporary though so please forgive
the mess..
One of the two remixes is there,
its Moby's Myopia.
Its about 6megs so it may be a long dload
for most people, especially if youre like me
and have a slow connection.
And in case your bored you can listen to a few
real audio links of some of my other stuff..
I have mp3s of all of them but i lack storage
space to upload them to.
Anyways, for those who want to hear one of my
remixes for thanks 2 (hopefully) go to
http://www.netrox.net/~gold/tm/
and i pasted this from netscape hopefully it will
work, its a direct link to the mp3 for the lazy
ones out there.
http://www.netrox.net/~gold/Moby%20-%20Myopia%20(Tone%20Matrix%20Mix).mp3
Oh and you may need to do SHIFT+CLICK or right click to save the mp3
correctly..
Well hope someone hears it,
Eric

Subject: (mobility) 12" moby for sale
There's loads of Moby records that went on auction today at
http://www.ebay.com
I recommend going into the Books, Movies, Music area and using the search
string 'moby -dick -grape' with Search Titles and Descriptions turned on.
That'll get you the best results, you know, it'll show all the soundtracks
and remixes with Moby on them that are for sale, too. There's plenty of CDs,
too.
Clay, your eloquence is coarse and unique. Well said. Everybody tries to
make things be either this or that.. and that don't work. I'm very picky
when it comes to rap and hip-hop. I like Tupac, Busta, Ice Cube, Invisibl
Sqratch Picklz, and a couple others... Maybe Moby could cover some of them.
I'll spare you all the cheesy hybrids I imagined this time. Atrocious
imaginings, really.
I've been reading Wire lately, a U2 list. They have over 4000 people. That
place is tense mess. We got it good. :)

Ok, I'll save it. I'll just leave it at - Puffy is no more deserving of
scorn than are the eve6/greenday/spicegirls/backstreet boys/marilyn
mansons/etc. of the world. Uninspired music coupled with a little hype
and/or entertainment factor sells, you can't blame people for taking
advantage of it. Blame the people that buy it.

More than online. It is a small chain (6, I think) in southern California,
selling new and used.
The stores are medium sized, not as large as Tower, but bigger than most mom
and pop stores,
as big as some Wherehouse locations.

I'm sitting here listening to TEOE for the first time in a really long
time and rediscovering how beautiful a piece of work it is. Patient
Love has struck a particular chord with me this listen around. It
almost brought tears to my eyes. There seems (to me right now anyway)
to be some story behind it that seems both joyful and sad at the same
time. Tracks like that are the reason i listen to music. :)

I believe (but don't quote me), they're made in the UK but specially
priced for export. Wasn't "Come On Baby" like this? One format issued
for export and priced lower (but not as low as the current Honey
singles).
Mute has done this a time or two when they feel the demand is high
outside of the UK (I think they did it for Erasure too in another
country). Mute might do this because the artists label isn't planning
on releasing it or the artist is without a label (like Moby in the US).
Speaking of a label... who's likely up for it? Virgin?
And for those who don't know, BT is now signed to City Of Angels!
If you want more info on their planned releases for BT, lemme know.

Fine!! It is I that you should blam than. Or should you???? You see
this thing that we listen to with our ears is called music. Some of
this music is harsh or nasty...or just would rather have your ass move
to it. I dont think that any music should recieve scorn or hate
towards it, this is a power that can draw out every emotion in us that
it should be respected not trashed.
Next did you know that even though you may not like puffy, his type of
music(hip-hop), inspired our beloved creator and others like BT,
Orbital, Meat Beat, ect.
I could go on and on but i think that todays lesson is over. Dont be
so hard on music please.

I'm sorry. I should have phrased things differently. Re-reading my message
made me realize that it didn't come across remotely near the way I intended
it to...instead of defending Puffy, that message ended up sounding more like
an attack on him...between that, and my earlier comment attacking techno
artists in general, i haven't done a very good job.
I love hip-hop, from gandmaster flash, the sugar hill gang, run dmc, and
public enemy to Ice-T, Ice cube, the wu-tang clan, and cypress hill.
Perhaps the attack on other artists shows that I'm becoming bitter from my
battles, trying to convince people that most hip-hop artists are indeed very
talented, very intelligent people making some very good music.
And though I don't particularly care for Puffy's particular brand of rap, I
have great respect for him as a Producer/Marketer and will admit that he did
some good things with his album.

FTP to (FTP, NOT HTTP!!!!) moby.wiretrip.net

Everything is to go in /incoming. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE YOUR
UPLOAD! Drop me a line after you upload it and I will confirm that it is
there. I am thinking WAV is best for now, but I open the floor to
suggested formats. I've done a BUNCH of research into the computer DAT
(DDS) and its inability to read DAT audio natively. It *can* be done, but
you need some software that costs $$$ that I'm not willing to spend. So,
for now, DAT is out.
And as for the mp3 debate, I leave the good Dr. and whoever he was
discussing it with to summarize that one. Good info!
Here is what I have listed for contributions, so far:

1. Honey (Remix)
2. Dog Heaven (Remix)
Kingmob
1. Everytime You Touch Me (Remix)
2. something from AR....
Andy
1. I Like to Score (Remix)

Stick them in the FTP site and I'll make them available via the web page,
when it goes up. I've got space and a FAST connection.
I apologize for the delay. Thanks I *WILL* be re-released along with
Thanks II - but I'm thinking we'll wrap it all up around the same time.
And I'm hoping to have that web page, with cover art, samples, info., etc.
up by the end of this weekend. Ugh.
Thank you for being so patient - I've been swamped.

I think the story behind punk, hip-hop and rap are very
similar. The Beastie Boys have married the two together
brilliantly, in my opinion, (not that it counts for much
here!).
Like I've said before, if Moby were to collaborate it
should be with the Beastie's.
Happy Christmas and may communicate some more in the New

What if the emotion that it draws out of us is Hate? Violence? Fear?
These are not healthy emotions and we should not let music create them in
us. Music that does tend to do this SHOULD recieve scorn. Unless you
think that Nazi Nationalistic Hymhs should recieve just as much ear time
as Moby or more substanative artists. Though less extreme,
"Hip-Hoppers" create the same standards - Theievery, murder, irreverent
and violent sex. Take away these characteristics and there are many
decent artists left, not all hip-hop(whatever that means) artists are bad,
but in general at worst they are unacceptable and at best they are not
worth my time.

Excuse me? I believe Orbital and even Moby were recording long before
Puffy got any air play at all. Roots of "electronica"(for lack of a
better word, sorry word haters ^_^) are better described in pioneering
groups such as Tangerine Dream or Daft Punk or Kraftwerk.
I don't see how any hip-hopper has "inspired" Moby or any other electronic
artist. If you can explain yourself better, then please do.
