I don't think Puffy has ANYTHING to do with Moby's album. I think the
person who MIXES FOR Puffy is working on Moby's album, not Puffy himself.

Isn't Puffy's real name Sean Combs anyway? I think Michael Patterson just
mixed Puffy's album. I looked on a fan site and saw no reference to the
name Michael Patterson in the biography.
Either way, I think I'd probably trust Moby's decisions on his music.
Though I don't care for Puffy's rapping, he's proven to be very good on the
producing/marketing end...

Everything and Animal Rights turn up frequently.
Ambient and Score are not too hard either.
Spotted at several locations in the SFV.
At one Wherehouse location, I spotted Everything, Ambient, Animal, Score,
and even the 2cd collected B-sides.

Here a great off topic for all you who hate them and whoever else...
That first figure of 1,200 is ridiculous (so is the 35,000 for that matter)
1,200 turkeys in the whole USA in 1994 would leave 24 turkeys per state for the
whole year. Wow, I guess I knew everyone in my state that bought a turkey that
year!
That figure was not for the USA but more likely for one single grocery store.
And to all you vegans: I'm eating turkey right now....sorry
I'm feeling like provoking you all tonight obviously. Honestly, I'm bored with
the list.
All the off topic stuff is what mailing lists are about, this isn't a business
meeting-
it's a social event....But I get a strong feeling of let's talk business only,
so I
guess I'll just have to keep to myself and save reading posts for when I'm truly
bored
to death.
And now about Moby, I must admit I'm very dissappointed to hear about the hip
hop
producers because I despise hip hop/trip hop/rap/whatever, I'm just not
interested.
I guess Moby is famous for switching genres but until now I liked them all and I
am truly apprehensive to hear this new stuff now. Basically, I'm sad there won't
be
a face shredding new techno album, that's what I would like after all this rock
and
various ambient stuff- some upbeat thumpin techno tracks. Oh well, I'll sit in
the corner.

These are figures for tofu turkey sales. I read the article, too. I've also
read recently about Amish kids arrested for selling cocaine, and a
neighborhood that's fighting to make sure a nuns' convent doesn't get built
at the end of their block. They say the organ music will lower the property
values.
Regarding those producers, they only produce, they aren't artists. This
won't be Moby's monotonous tribute to a dead rap star. They're just tweaking
sounds for him. Wait until you hear the music to decide on it. The Patterson
guy probably had minimal involvement w/ Puffy and the news/promo people
latched onto that to hype every angle they can.
I picked up the single 12" for Honey yesterday. I was at a rock store
(mostly metal, punk, and hippie music) and they had it priced domestically,
5.99. Nice. It's worth noting that the commercial release opens on the right
side but the promo opens on top. Hopefully I can listen to the Sweet Honey
mix properly now. Oh yeah, somebody bought that AR used and now ILTS is
there.

Sean "Puffy" Combs is having nothing to do with Moby's record. But the guy
who *mixed* puffy's record (and made it all radio friendly and appealing to
the ear) is mixing Moby's new record. This is not all that unusual. If
you'll notice, the single mix of Honey was not done by Moby. It was done by
a Mario Caldato Jr. So, the fact that Mute (or Moby) is forking over the
cash to have this other guy mix the record speaks a fair deal towards their
plans for the record. And it looks like a Top40/Mtv push is in the master
plan.

I don't know about you all, but I kind of like the idea of moby being
produced (to some extent) by hip hop/rap producers. He has branched out
to many different genres etc...why not be produced by a hip hop
producer...I think that many of them come up with very good beats...and
ones that are not necessarily what you would think of "hip-hop" beats.
And I think that Moby should collaberate with Chuck D of public
enemy...but that may mean I am bias to some extent. Oh well. I think he
will do what he feels is best.
I wish I could have seen moby's video...I still have not seen one. I've
seen more KLF videos...and they "retired" in '92. Of course here at
school we don't have cable, let alone more than 3 stations.
As for used CD's. I've not seen any moby here in the town I go to school
in, but this town is pretty small 20,000...and the majority of people
listen to World Music or Hippie stuff (i.e. Phish, Greatful Dead). My
home town music stores have quite a bit of used moby...I first
discovered the self-titled at a used store...that was my first moby
album...but that was back when moby only had a few releases (EU, ST, and
Ambient etc).
Anyway, I've written more than I have in probably 6 months and thats not
much...I will try to write more now that school is winding down...
Oh yeah, speaking of the Mobyfication (new word) of the masses, I try to
play as much moby as I can get away with on my radio show...i've
converted a few to moby...its nice to hear others playing moby in their
cars and rooms.

I'd say yes. AR has a different track format which (i think) works better
than the mainstream AR (less songs tho...more of the harder, faster stuff).

um, puffy is not producing it. someone who works with him is i guess.
please, no more puffy spams. we all remember that shit. if not, check
the archives. (actually i think it was me who originally brought it up
by saying in my bio that i hated puffy.)
at least, i hope puffy isnt involved.
hey heres a question (oh boy!):
if you could chose any mc in the world to rap on a moby track, who
would it be?
chuck d, kool keith, cypress hill, and, um, da moby boiiizzzzzzzz
(moby in disguise...hee hee i made that one up) are my choices.
and vanilla ice of course.
oh, but i hope he doesnt do this. then he'll get a bad review in
spin!!! (sarcastic dammit!)
aaanyway, um, anyone know where honey was shot? the video i mean?
and like, um, i bought EIW used. at the goodwill stor. on a tape. the
first 45 minutes of EU are on the other side. and i also bought ILTS
used the first week it was out. it has a "promo only return to label"
thing on it (yeah, fat chance...)
i know i asked this before, but does anyone have any old SPINs lying
around? yes, i know they suck, but its research. i guess i could try
and explain but 99.99999% of you at bare minumum care, so im not gonna
waste your tyme or mine.
but if you have any lying around, email me PRIVATELY.
i got the new issue in the mail yesterday. it has the

Sure, he could talk monotone (mysteriously referred to as 'rapping' by his
fans) over 'Honey', and call it 'Money'. Three years from now when he's all
but forgotten he'll be singing, "when my benjamins come back, sometime, I
wish I rapped like that, sometime, ...."
It wasn't supposed to fit the timing, btw. Ok, shoot me, so that wasn't
funny. This is. I read it elsewhere and thought it would be appreciated

Well that's a very nice lineup. If your music tastes lean at all toward
experimental techno/electronic/whatever, or IDM, and if you have a good
sense of humour(i.e. α la Richard D. James), most of the PA's will
appeal to you. Can't speak for the DJ's except the Twin. He's pretty
sick. :) Where's this event supposed to take place? Are you somewhere
in the uk?
Is that "@" thing in effect? I hope so or i wouldna sent this to the
