hmmm....seems like someone is saying things and isn't brave enough to
explain themselves or even put their name on it.
Whoever posted that first comment (SUOD) to a new person on the list needs
to decide just what they are angry at, and resove it another way rather than
chastising someone who quite possibly didn't know the answer to something...

Thousand IS on the US commercial release of "Next Is The E". The
record itself has grey stickers on either side. Mine was missing the
original sleeve. I know it's the release because I have the promo, too. The
Victory mix is excluded from certain UK 'original' releases. If you want to
buy one, NITE is the most common of the Instinct 12"s. I used to have a
spare, but you're two weeks too late. I'll find you one if you like. Let me
know.
Paul, I just got the new Meat Beat album and though it was so-so. I gave it
away as an extra birthday gift to somebody who like it more than I. Sounds
like an interesting mix you dreamed up. The 'set me free' sample is a great
one, it floats through my mind happily. I'd like to see MBM's Cancer &
Feeling So Real mixed together. The vacuum drone of FSR coupled with the
dark vocals would be cool if you distorted the vocals to rise in pitch with
the vacuum. (cancer, a warning sign) Actually, no, nevermind.
Tim, no it wasn't obvious. There was one clue, though, that I thought
nothing of. You mention your problems/issues publically. I'm your typical
straight keep-it-all inside type guy. I find release in other ways than
those direct.
I like Brak. Brak!
(starts to clay but meanders to all)
Clay, don't worry, I won't tell me about it. You want my opinion on the
current state of the list? I like the activity and traffic, I like the
liveliness. I don't like the overjustification and aplologies. Too much
correcting "You shouldn't say that, it isn't fair..." too much
overexplaining "What I meant by that was..." too much apologising "I'm sorry
if that bothers you, but..." too much complaining about complaining (now me,
too). But hidden amongst all that are some rather interesting tidbits, some
unintentionally revealing ideas, a community existing instead of... just
messages. If you say it once and say it clearly that's enough. One person
may misunderstand, or understand very well, and bite at you, but bite back
elsewhere. There's no scorekeeper out there. Nobody will care if you're
insulted /disagreed /misunderstood and you don't respond. You won't lose
face. Nobody'll come back and say "Blahblah#3 is is righter than you because
she made a point that you were a hypocrite for complaining about issue#9
when you actually wrote about it two days later and..." If somebody does,
they look the fool for trying to win a game that wasn't being played. So
much unneccesary defending.
It is fun to see some with fangs bared though, very revealing about some
things. It's like a giant uncontrolled psychology experiment. I'd like to
hear more people say real things, instead of stating what they didn't say or
meant to. All these little things. Look how far I've rambled on about almost
nothing.... it's too easy. Look how long I've already loudmouthed in
negativity..(look ma! it's a new verb!) It's harder but more fulfilling to
elaborate in sunshine.
I, too, rely on science to make observations and conclusions. The science of
my mind vs. my instinct. I feel more enjoyment listening to high grade vinyl
than to CD. This one comes from the gut, it's something about taking a more
active role in listening... that makes vinyl better for me. It doesn't
matter whether it's REALLY scientifically accurately mathematically better,
because it's better for me.
Th-Th-That's all for now, and Steve-O was his name-O.

Moby Mixes It Up With Hip-Hop Producers
Moby may not have a U.S. record label at the moment,
but his next album is nearing the finish line
nonetheless. And surprisingly, he has turned to the
hip-hop and R&B community for mixing duties.
Michael Patterson (Puff Daddy) and Dallas Austin (TLC)
began mixing the not- yet- titled disc on Monday (Nov.
9) at Philip Glass' Looking Glass studios in New York.
The Moby- produced album, which will be released on
Mute outside of North America, is expected to be
completed in about three weeks. Moby still hasn't
chosen a label stateside yet, but the plan is to have
the album out in April.
Sources who have heard the demos say the new material
is a return to the sounds on Moby's 1995 release,
Everything Is Wrong. One song that will be on the
album is "Porcelain," which will also be included in
the Miramax film Playing By Heart (formerly titled
Dancing About Architecture and If They Only Knew). The
version on Moby's album, though, might be slightly
different from the version in the film and on the
soundtrack, which is coming on Capitol. (See related
story, this page)
Meanwhile, the independent film Porno that Moby is
executive producer of (allstar, April 3) still hasn't
found a home. A source tells us that the film is in
post- production, and it's going "slowly, but it's
moving along."

anyone have any more news about the THANKS 2 comp? I ask because I met a guy
who can put the track I'm doing into .wav for me (all I have is ADAT & DAT).
wanted to know the current status.

Hey everyone.
This past Thanksgiving weekend I was perusing through a media
store(Hastings if anyone has heard of it) and found 2 used Tricky CDs
which I quickly bought for a mere 8 dollars each. I was so suprised when
I found them. Though Hastings has a large used music CD selection I have
always been weary of buying used music because if someone else didn't want
it then it must not be good at all. Usually the used CD collections
consist of old 80s big hair bands and other crap(cough cough jewel, sorry
;) ) that people finally came to the realization sucks, so they promptly
got rid of it.
Anyway, (dispite the Tricky CDs) used music shelves continue to be a
graveyard for one hit wonders, I guess that is why I've never seen any
Moby in the used section, because his fan base is pretty devoted and
small so why would you give one up? I was just curious, has anyone ever
seen a moby CD album ,single, Vinyl, etc in used sections? If so, what
and where?

The hastings in my town is awesome!
I've bought Everything is Wrong, Tricky's Maxinquaye, DJ Soulslinger, Several
Aphex Twin cds, The new depeche mode tribute cd, I just got Robert Miles there
two days ago.
Anyone interested in USED CD's might try pawn shops also. We have one in our
town that sells cds 3 for $10 : ) I've gotten a few aphex twin cds there, a
few beastie boys, and a couple of hendrix albums.
Just a thought.
Anyway, Our hastings usually has three or 4 moby cds in stock in the used
section. I've even found a couple of singles there.

It just so happens that I found a copy of AR w/ Little Idiot used today
(only 16.50 - what a bargain!) I've seen pretty much every Moby release in
a used bin somewhere, except EIW M&RM, Rare/Go, and Ambient. I guess that's
the joy of living in a small wannabee city like boise :-)

Very valid point. I should have mentioned it earlier. me bad.
umm... he's obsessed with the foo fighters, well, at least he was the last
time i talked to him. and he goes through phases where he gets obsessed
with punk, so now i'm thinking maybe Animal Rights is where its at... But
then EIW was my first and it made me REALLY get into moby so maybe it will
have the same effect on him.
*scratches chin in kelly type fashion*
Personally, I don't really like I like to score so I dont want to give
that... hmm... Maybe I'll just give him a bunch of mixed tapes instead and
be done with him.
BUT then there's the whole matter of what to put on the tapes. Urggg.
Bah. Christmas shopping is annoying.
