OH and it hasnt been twenty, its been about a 2weeks worth.
ok i thought i was the only one annoyed at these posts, but to tell you the
truth its not right what is going on.
yeah fine talking about moby all the time might be boring.. but you see thats
what other lists are for, talk on other lists about those things..
you dont just join a list and talk about whatever you want..
yeah sure you can, but youre annoying people who dont want to get all of this
unrelated mail.
if you still want to keep the conversation going, at least make another list
or just email to the particular person..
because 90% of the posts are people talking
personally to one another. "hey bob how are you, i ate chips today",
"Oh im fine, i drank rootbeer yesterday"
just because it is a list it doesnt mean that you HAVE to post something.
if there is nothing going on with moby then there is nothing going on with moby.
you dont have to say "well today i went to the beach and i totally swam alot!"
sure im sounding harsh and all, but its really annoying to keep getting all
this chit chat mail, when all i wanted was moby related stuff (when it was
available).
I'm on a film music list, and although it is a busy list, they dont start
talking about how they hate school and all this blah blah.
I realize the majority of the list likes to post these nonrelated messages,
but i'm tired of it, and wish it could be regulated.
I dont know how Damian (listowner) feels about this, but i for one am sick
of deleting..
and then yes you people will say, "sooo get off the list then"
well no i dont really want to do that, because i wanted to try and finish
this Thanks 2 compilation (which i have no clue as to what is going on now).
and i just want to be able to discuss moby related stuff..
i dont want a chat room thru email. yes there are CHAT ROOMS you can talk
about the same stuff in. technology apparently has allowed us to chat LIVE
with people across the globe!
but if im the minority of people who feel this way,
then oh well
thank you

HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU SAW A BUNCH OF MESSAGES
> WHERE EVERYONE'S COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW THEY HAVE ZITS OR ARE TOO SKINNY,

I'd probably feel like hell.
If someone is disfigured in an accident, then they have my sympathy,
but like it or not- looks do matter to almost everyone to some
degree.
Right or wrong;
most people will still complain when they get pimples, wrinkles or
stretch marks- even if there are plenty of people in much worse
situations than they are in.
Also, I've found that you get much better responses(in the long run)
from people when YOU DON'T TYPE LIKE THIS, and use guilt to
try and make your point. If *no one* cares about what the Mobility list
members look like- then no one would write about it.
Maybe we should have another mailing-list,
one for *strictly on-topic* Moby posts??
Personally I like this list as it is, but this could be a
good way to keep everyone happy.

Hmm... THAT'S not a stereotype...
I don't want to jump all over you but I find that comment ever so
*slightly* offensive.
Marilyn Manson is a little freakish, I'd agree. But just because someone
likes Manson
doesn't mean they should be automatically branded a freak. Maybe I'm just
taking this a little
too personally because I have a lot of ties to the "gothic" community, so I
get crap all the time
because I choose to associate with people who are "different". Two of my
best friends
are gothy, and every single boyfriend i've ever had have been goffs (not
including the current one
though. he's sorta trans-subgroup, just like me). And yes, up until last
year I was pretty gothy
myself. But I never really considred myself "goth". I was just not
mainstream. Whatever. I don't
need to defend myself here, and I guess you shouldn't either, but it really
pisses me off
when people make passing comments like that. They can really do a lot of
damage in
the long run to a person's self esteem.

One of my bestest buds (hehe i love using grade 2 words) is 22 and he's
afraid to go to his first rave because he thinks he's too old. He didn't
believe
that there are tons of post 20 year olds running around having a good time
with all us "kids".
> partying about 4 years ago (then being 18) it IS weird. The atmosphere

yup. too many mean people and icky guys a la "night at the roxbury"
*shudder* but you can still have a good time.
>i don't touch drugs. Just a personal choice (not a moral
> one, before someone jumps down my throat for being holier-than-thou).
Same here. But I kinda believe if you want to do something, and it doesn't
hurt anyone else, you should have the right to do it. JUST as long as
you're
prepared to face what might happen to you. That goes for drugs, alchohol,
sex, sexuality, just about anything. Whatever makes people happy...
A lot of my friends are into mind altering substances. And I'm not
talking, light,
recreational stuff. Some of them are into pretty heavy stuff. I don't
think any less
of them though (unless they do it just cuz they want attention or to fit
in. then
that's just stupid). I realized a long time ago its not my place to try
and change
them or anything like that. People are going to do what they're going to
do. The
only thing that you can do is try to be around to help them pick up the
pieces
when it all comes crashing down. I've seen it all happen before, and I
have a whole
section of my life I refuse to talk about with most people, so I feel like
I at least
some what know what's going on in people's heads when it comes to f*cking
yourself
up just for the hell of it.
Hmm... I think I'll stop right there because this post is totally off topic
and I can't see it
geting anywhere NEAR being on topic. So if anyone can relate thread to
moby, i'd umm...
err... think you're really cool! *grin*

Me too!!! It's nice to see some other vinyl fanatics!!! For a long while
it seemed that vinyl was disappearing once cd's caught on, but now
with more global communication vinyl is more available... The sound
is more real, less monotonous, and the bass is so much better
(moby vinyl!!!). Besides that, lots of the music I grew up listening to
is not available on cd... although for convenience cd's are good, as
you don't have to worry about ruining the needle, they are much
more portable, and you don't have to change the sides.
>p.s. ..........Walt Disney is (supposedly) buried in a cryogenics

That is scary... or maybe his consciousness found another host

always turned to the front, no matter which direction his head is
pointing?
>One of my hamsters had 14 babies the other day and ate them all.
Hamsters eat their babies if they feel stressed once they've given
birth or people have touched them... some hamsters are cute,
but then some of them are sooo evil - like my cousin's. I have
an anti-social gerbil named conan, who does like company, but
is terrified of human touch.. which is fine for me...

Same here... vinyl sounds a lot more closer to what a live performance
sounds like.. honey is good on vinyl.. Ceiling fans just donnot suffice!

You can find the neatest stuff at thrift stores... although it's sometimes
hard to pick it out from all the other stuff. I adore new clothing, but
in many cases it's simply not economical.. so unless I REALLY want
something - such as my Moby shirt - I try to find what i am looking
for used. There are lots of records at the used clothing store I go to,
but a majority of them are really badly scratched... as in they look
like someone ran their car over them.. since the people who work
there don't know how to store records and just throw them all over the
place...
P.S - interesting little fact: In every deck of cards the King of
Hearts is sticking his sword through his head. That's why he's often
called the suicide king...
Okay.. that's my little blurb for now.. (is blurb an actual word?)

I saw Pi over the summer. It was one of the best movies I've seen in a
LONG time. The main
reason I went was because of the poppies connection (I'm a huge pop will
eat itself phreak)
but I left loving the movie because it was so amazing. I have an official
Pi poster beside
my bed. The black one with all the numbers... it rox :) Anyway, I
remember sitting there
and poking my brother every time I recognized music in it. I haven't
bought the soundtrack
yet because i've been busy blowing all my money on plastikman stuff (more
on that in another
post). Its a good movie. I urge everyone to check it out. It's beautiful
to watch, and it
actually makes you think. I give it, one and a half thumbs up (only
because there was no
MOBY stuff in it!!! hehehe, otherwise it would be a full two thumbs up!)

btw, Pi's offical web site is found at: http://www.pithemovie.com
a very well put together page, i must say.

Call me insane but I love the older plastikman more than this new stuff...
A funny story (well, funny to me) I was listening to Skizofrenik (you can
hear it at http://www.plastikman.com/ if you want to know what i'm talking
about) and my
dad came running downstairs to find out what the noise was. he thought it
was
either my cat throwing up, or something was wrong with the washing machine.
:)
I dunno... I found that amusing. hehe
Anyway, my obsession with Richie Hawtin is coming close to surpassing my
obession
with Moby. I feel so guilty *sob, sob*. I've started a Richie shrine
right next to
my moby shrine. Sick, eh? I listened to last trak (my fave) like, 10
times on the weekend
as I was wrapping christmas presents that my parents have bought WAAAY too
early this
year! I love Richie. He's an amazing artist. Plus he's RILLY cute too :)
And he's finally getting
some respect and attention here in canada (i posted the url to an article
about him found
in the toronto star last week) so that's really cool. I'm just pissed now
because I found out
he played a show 5 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE! Granted, it was 2 years ago and
I didn't
know anything about him, but STILL!!! I go through that industrial complex
all the time so
I'll never look at that warehouse in the same way ever again *sigh*.
Hmm... I love Richie. I love Richard. the only solution I can see to this
is that they team
up and create some sort of a super group... and throw trent reznor in there
too and i'd
be a REALLY happy camper! :)
Okay I'm done gushing. I love richie. that's all i have to say.
