get these (in this order):

1.move (if it is a single-as opposed to an ep)
2.hymn.alt.quiet.version
3.feeling so real (u.s.)
4.into the blue remixes
5.hymn (this is my dream)
6.next to the e
7.into the blue (the one w/shining, jsblues mix)
8.bring back my happiness (u.s.)
9.honey remixes
10.honey single

and the others follow suit.

I'd say don't get the UK Move (the 4 track single) because the US EP has
Disco Threat & Morning Dove on it.

hymn.alt.quiet.version is definitely an acquired taste. Beatless
soundscapes, excellent ambientcore (look ma! I made a new word!) Not for
everybody.

I'd say, for singles only, these are the best readily available.

Bring Back My Happiness (US) (a cornucopia lots of variety)
Into The Blue Remixes (UK) (a rainbow of moby flavors, my fave)
Next Is The E (US) (you may need to hunt about for this)
Feeling So Real (US) (for the raver in everyone)
Hymn (This Is My Dream) (UK) (short but sweet)

I've heard mixed reviews on the list.  Personally, I thought the album
"Soak" was pretty mundane-and the Soundgarden cover she does is just as
bad...

I've got the "Soak" CD, it's *okay*. Just wanted to mention that if
anyone is looking into this album
just because they liked Mimi's vocals on EIW- the "Soak" album sounds
nothing like it(imo anyway).

I would regard as more important, issues such as human
rights, environment and animal welfare. I don't mean to get
all 'goodie-2-shoes', heavy and depressing, but it would
mean far much more if the comp. was made with a view to
selling for a profit, so that profit went to an
organisation like Amnesty International, Greenpeace, or
something (then of course, who do we trust to guarantee the
money will get to these causes?). It's great that people
want to make music, I love music and after all this list
seems to be primarily concerned with music, but as we've
all heard so many times before, it's also all about Moby
and what he's all about and what he's trying to say through
his music.

Maybe if all this was done 6 months ago, I would have been
less narky and far more interested in this comp, when life
was treating me a bit better. I'm sorry my attitude had to
come through to the list. Maybe I'm a woman trapped in a
man's body, or something!?

Tim, there have been conflicts, but you're focusing on the negative. As it
stands right now we have a producer for Thanks 2, we have permission for
indefinite reprints of Thanks 1, and there are no limited releases or
elitism or changed inserts any longer. These group projects are once again
FOR the group, not OF the group. The nastiness is past and we're working
together to make music and make EVERYBODY happy and included.

Tim, if we wanted to do that we'd have to license everything, gain
permission from the different record companies that own the songs, make it
officially for profit, and make arrangements with the donatees. That's a lot
of work. Additionally, how would we ever reach an agreement about this here?
I realize your goals (which I find admirable) coincide with Moby's, but this
is a fan list, not a Moby activist group. Discussing Moby's views on
mobility and actively supporting them are two very different things.
Remember that this is a group project. Let's stick with the music.

Yeah Steve, that's all water under the bridge, as far as
I'm concerned. I basically had no interest in any of the
arguments with regard to availability, it was just that
the whole thing seemed a big deal over something that
wasn't that important, when put in perspective. Plus
other things around it just got under the skin, y'know?
So now I won't go on about it anymore and see whatever
comes about.

Okay, it may be a lot of work, but why couldn't we vote for
a good cause as we did for the title? I'm not saying we do
this now, as I'm sure most people have had it up to
wherever with the voting already, but any future comp. Why
do we have to make all of it official anyway? We could just
donate to Amnesty International, for example, once the
money came through. I'm sure they won't need to be asked
officially for permission to give a donation. You just send it.
And why should a fan list not be able to raise money for
worthy causes?  If it's all too much then fine -
democracy rules.
