Subject: (mobility) Bring Back My Happiness question
Hey...
I was downtown today and I ended up on a Moby shopping spree... WHOO HOOO!
I got the Honey Remixes on vinyl, so its going right up on there on my
shelf next to my vinly copy of Halo One (nine inch nail's first single) so
I can gloat and feel happy. Aw man. Who am I kidding. I hate my life.
ANYWAY... enough babble from me. While downtown I went into a most
excellent used CD store and found a bunch o' moby singles. I had all of
them 'cept for one, so I bought it! :) Now for the questions. I got Bring
Back My Happiness and I want some things cleared up. Its in this weird
format, its a paper case (think a bunch of the later nin singles...) but it
has a white plastic flap thing. *puzzled look* Does everyone's look like
this? Is it possible to get it in one of those plastic jewel cases? The
other two singles there were Feeling So Real and Everytime You Touch Me,
same formats. But I already own them in the plastik jewel case format. So
what's the difference? Is one of them rare or something? I'm confused!
Another question. The illustrations on the BBMH Cd, did moby intend them
to be self portraits? Just wundering... cuz I don't remember him having a
square head when I saw him... Dammit. Nevermind. That joke won't fly here
cuz none of you guys were in my grade 11 english class. Oh well. But are
they self portraits?? I for some reason want to know! Well... I'd babble
on a little more but I have a rave to attend!
Happy Marilyn Manson Day! oh wait... that was friday. Happy FREAKIN'
Halloween!!! PLUR.
- -K
p.s. I'm moving out to BC soonish... cuz it sucks in ontario at the moment.
anyone wanna hook me up with some info about the scenes out there?

He? As in Moby??? GIMME DETAILS!!!
like... when? I'm praying this wasn't a Halloween thing...
please be new years please be new years please be new years...
I'm going to be in nyc for new years dis year cuz the parties in
toronto SUCK! Well... not all of em... but the vibe is horrible. too
many trendies and people who don't know a thing about plur :(
This little girlie is getting disillusioned *pout* maybe tonight will
change my
mind, but freakin... the par-tay i'm heading too in less than an hour
(didn't i say that in my last post? hehe... me bad...) is supposed to be a
EC reject party. Dammit. Anyway. Enough babble from me. plur

ok...
this is not good news, especially after all we've been
thru together last week.
no, i'm not dumping you for a blonde with big boobs.
but my hard drive is a sicky kitty. she won't let me
write any files to her.
what does that mean to you? it means that i can't put
files on my hard drive. which files you ask? the files
for the thanks 1 compilation (and any audio files for that
matter).
what does THAT mean to you? it means that any sho
related stuff is going to be postponed for as long as it
takes for me to get this fixed. and, sadly, it could be
quite some time as i have no money to spend.
this will, most likely, cause problems for the thanks 2 compilation
as well. but i don't want to disuade any of you from
working on and sending in your tracks....
i don't really know what else to say at this point.
i suppose things could work out somehow....
we'll see....
a very disappointing,
ryu

Well, Paul, I like Tubthumper, but I think the whole Chumbawamba philosophy
of the world is, well, bullocks. I saw Josh Wink and Meat Beat Manifesto
Halloween night, and Jack looked like he was dressed up as Moby. Then again,
it might just be that he's slight of build and bald and vegan, but maybe it
was intentional. :) Wink had makeup around his eyes that made him look
like the thief from the cookie crunch cereal commercials, sort of. He was
super-goofy that night. I got some cool Actual Sounds & Voices postcards
there, too.
So what's the gig w/ the OMD remixes? I've seen the release and the promos
selling in auctions but I haven't seen any on store racks. I'm confused.
This is the sort of thing that Tower would carry, right? That's where I go
for commons and new releases. (about 10% of what I buy) I keep seeing all
sorts of Michael Jackson imports with Moby mixes on them. For some reason
I'm not interested in them. I've heard about 65% of Moby's remixes for
others, and he sure can work wonders with crap source material. Take the
B-52s Mo-Dean mixes. Barring the very long one, they're great, if a little
goofy. I can't say I like the Soho or Lydon mixes, and the Ten City mixes
are miraculous. They take some time to get moving and are very dated
sounding when they start. I suppose the title is appropriate. Only Time Will
Tell. I certainly don't like the mixes he did for the Shamen (Make It Mine),
but I only listened twice and I hate those KLF-like euro-hype-guy voices.
The source ruined them, I think. Anyways, I have no point. I want the
Eskimos and Egypt mixes. Will anyone sell them to me?

Geoffrey:
I can't find Instinct Dance, and I'm fairly good at tracking such things
down. But everything on there is also on common releases, particularly Moby
and Early Underground. I know where Instinct Jazz is, but that's not Moby
and does you no good. Oh well.
Andrew:
As for the Michael Jackson mixes Moby did, they're up for auction. However,
they're big import packages and they're expensive and full of MJ stuff.
(yech!) This place below sells at least one of the singles which has a Moby
mix on it. Moby did mixes for Beat It and Who Is It?, I beleive. I saw it
there about a weeks ago or whenever I posted about that SIN release for
African History. Try typing moby in each of the first three search lines.

While we're talking of difficult finds, is anybody interested in a Next Is
The E 12"? How about a UHF 12"? (both domestic releases) Last time I had one
response which fell through, but depending on how many reply I might auction
it. We'll see. They're extras I don't need, but I reserve the right not to
sell and all that, blah blah etc. Make an offer. I may also have a Mobility
12" to offer in the near future. Depends on how the next one coming looks
and plays.
If you want the Next Is The E 12", you can choose between the release and
the promo. The release one has no picture sleeve, though and I suspect it
used to. If not that, at least a sticker sleeve. Just so you know. I also
have one on Axis/Equator, with a picture sleeve, but that one's not for
sale. You prolly wouldn't want it anyway, it's the same 12" except it lacks
the Victory mix. When I bought it I thought it would have the Invisible
Brothers mix, the Contentious mix, or the THK mix.

released with "Drop A Beat", is a completely different song.

As far as I know the mixes are only on 12" for ATINITBL. The Revolver mixes
are on CD and can bought at any major online music retailer. Look for the
Australian one is particular. The catalog number should be in the
discography. Since this is your second question of this nature, you (and
everybody who seeks such info) should know that there is a discography at
www.moby.org that lists almost everything released with Moby's name on it.
There you can get redundant answers like I've just provided. As for finding
what you want, that's a different matter. If you check the archives for
August and September somewhere in there I are messages I posted listing cool
stores to buy cool stuff from. The archives for this list are also at
moby.org
http://www.moby.org
http://www.moby.org/info/mobydisc.txt
I'm considering making a directory on where to buy Moby's music simalar to
the links directory I compiled, but I'm hesitant because this one will date
much faster. A lot of them are small local shops that have novelty stuff and
once they've sold that merchandise they're useless for the directory's
purpose. It would need to be meticulously maintained to remain uselful for
more than two months. So for now that's on hold. In the meantime, try these:
