i don't know if you really want to buy at everycd.com; you have to get a
membership i think, and the site said they cost $39.95, which seems a little
steep, but maybe that's just me.

A coworker of mine has a membership with EveryCD. Their prices are the
best anywhere, though you have to buy a lot of CDs to make up for the
$40 annual fee. Their online catalog leaves something to be desired,
but according to my coworker, they really can get every US domestic CD
in print, whether or not it's listed in their catalog. But if something
is out of print, or non-US, EveryCD probably can't get it.

One must also beware of stores the list 200,000+ titles. Frequently the
catalog does not reflect the stock and they can't get half of what they
list. Some don't refund your money either. (Daniel & CD Banzai on that
7-track Move) Personally, I order from the mom&pop type outfits, localized
smaller places that take more care to the individual customer and the
inventory. They can get the same stuff the big stores can but they also have
niftier stuff that gets ignored by bigger stores, like promo CDs. Speaking
of which, check out this link everybody. You have delobbo to thank for
directing me here. The 3track ETYTM CD for sale is a nifty piece.

Here's an example of exaggerated stock. They've obviously culled material
from other catalogs and bunched them together, evidenced by repeats of the
same title phrased differently, but listed as different. No care has been
taken to trim where necessary. At least, not the last time I checked a month
ago. If they had everything here they'd be great, but somehow I have strong
doubts that they do.

Subject: (mobility) Moby trivia
Ok, folks! Some hardcore Moby trivia to relieve the Moby drought we're all
experiencing now. Answers at the bottom-don't cheat!
1. How many hairs on Moby's head?
2. How many times has Moby said "Oh"
3. What type of toothpaste does Moby use?
4. What kind of car does our hero drive?
5. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was Moby?
Answers:
1. 4. He always misses these four hairs when shaving his head.(Scouts
honor!)
2. 470,789(as of 3:55 and 23 seconds central time on 10/23/98)
3. Anything made by Proctor & Gamble 'cause he just LOVES the way they
torture animals to "test" their products.
4. The Batmobile! Uh................or maybe he uses the public
transportation system.
5. A woodchuck would chuck approximately 47 tons of wood in it's lifetime,
regardless of whether it is Moby or not.
Hope U enjoyed this! If you didn't get more than 2 correct answers I
personally order you to Listen to one Spice Girls track and try to
"Understand" where they are coming from lyrically.

Today, I picked up number CDs 29, 30, and 31 since I have been in Japan. I got
the Faithless god is a DJ, but I got 2 new Moby(for me). The Story so for and
Mix Mag 7 Moby and Slam. I have never been more disapointed with anything I
have ever bought before. Stroy so Far is almost like a rearanged Self Titled
and Mix MAg is the exact same as the Moby and Sven Vath, and at least Sven
Vath was worth listening to. I would recomend no one buying either of these 2
Moby CDs other than furthering your collection - Which was really the only
reason I bought them. Later.

FYI:
The other night I was supposed to be studying for an economics test but
decided to parse through the Moby discography on moby.org instead and see
just how many Moby solo releases there were. Although the count may be
inaccurate, I counted about 176 of them. This of course includes all the
vinyl, promos, out of prints, etc., etc.... Does this sound about right
Daniel?
Needless to say, I didn't do too well on that economics test.
np: Youth, "Half Moon"
(p.s. Does anyone have any info on Youth? I just have this one song and
think it's wonderful, but can't find anything else by them. And were they
the same Youth that did a remix on the U2 single, "One"?)

That sounds like it's in the ballpark, Ade, but I couldn't tell you for
sure because I never counted them myself. Also, there are MANY Moby
CDs and records not listed in the discography. They are mostly just
slight variations on the same old releases, but from other countries.
Every now and then, somebody drops a load of info on me, which I gladly
include, but in the absence of such contributions, I can only have a
vague notion that, for example, Moby items are made in/for Japan,
France, etc.
In version 4 of the discography, I want to group releases together, so
they won't be so difficult to count and find.

I don't know much about him other than some contributions that I have
seen personally. He's done several remixes for different artists, one
including Erasure for the single "Chorus". Youth was or still is part
of the music group Killing Joke. They're music is quite hard... seems
to be on the rock/industrial rock edge of things. I can only recommend
the single "Millennium". Youth specifically produced it and contributes
additional remixes along with Juno Reactor among others (seven mixes
total).
As for the Mixmag disc, I didn't like it either... but I enjoyed "The
Story So Far" even though it was just another redundant "best of" thing
to the year 1993.

hi all,
two things:
1. how is the artwork designing going? there hasn't been too many
submissions...and those that are there are only covers. we
need someone to design the back of the jewel case. as
far as track listings and such, that can be added over
that artwork later on when the details are worked out and
finalized.
2. if possible (i know it's still early) can those that have tracks
completed, give me a ruff estimate of their length of time
so that i can see how much room will be taken up
on the cd, and how much will be left. i'm curious to
see how people are progressing as well....so keep me posted.
that's all for now.
more later,
adios,
ryu

Hi
As I was browsing through an atlas looking on Norway here the other day, I
discovered a small place called "Moby". "Moby" means something like a town
on the plains.
So now we know Moby has a town named after him (yeah rite...). According to
my atlas Moby has less than 500 inhabitants.
Moby is also used as a surname in Norway.
