I like both styles more or less similarly, and dont mind what he

really cares? But I take your point.

I discovered Spiritualized two weeks ago... They're ok.
And New Model Army and Massive Attack are performing this
weekend new my city!! :)

- -To see both outfits in your city around the same time would be pretty strange, as they're
so totally different....where's your city? It sounds pretty good if they have both these
gigging. I've been trying to see New Model Army for ages. As for Spiritualised, I prefer
they're older stuff, not to mention Spaceman 3 and Spectrum, but this list is about Moby
isn't it!? Sorry, I forgot!

i'll have to think honestly here....yes, moby has been making dance music
all the while.....but seriously look at it.  don't consider the fact that moby
himself made it.  when i do that, i see lazy crappy dance music.

don't get me wrong, i love the down tempo electronic and ambient ballads
of his.  but i don't count that as being dance music.  the only real dancey
type song of moby's since his EiW material that i have been interested in
would be "every one of my problems"  and perhaps "why can't it stop".

i don't think that "oil 1" or any of the other trophy tracks have been
successful.  not on a personal level for me, or on a club/pop chart level.

he may have been secretly doing wonderful things behind all our backs,
but he hasn't shown any of it in his live sets.  the majority of the dance
music he's been promoting have been classic hits of his.

but he only said that the new album "so far has no guitars on it".  which
could mean pretty much anything.

i think i'm babbling now...not sure.
but i really haven't heard any interesting dance music since around 95/96.
everythign since then has been extremely retro or extremely soul-less.
to me anyways....

i'll stop.

it is such a gorgeous day, and i'm in quite a good mood,
so it's odd that i'm being so negative.  but i am.
so i'll be negative again and say this:

i don't want ANOTHER anything from moby.
i want something new.  something i haven't heard already.

the reason i am anticipating this new album so much is because
i want to get excited about moby's music again.

what i used to like so much from him
is the way he always surprised me.
moby hasn't surprised me in a while now.
and i like surprises.

he has proved himself as a multi-talented eclectic musician already.
i think it would be most entertaining for me to have him move
past that and get into more experimental and ground-breaking music
like he has done before.

i agree. i just meant i love his instrumental stuff and i love his 'rock'
stuff and i wouldn't mind hearing more of either.

or perhaps.. a combination of the two (+ ?) in the same songs? *that* would
prove interesting..

ironically, lack of $$ has actually helped prolong my moby fascination, as i
only have about 7 of his cds, and a bunch of dubbed taps, so everytime i hear
something new, it's exciting to me-even if it originally came out in 93 or
whenever.

    Hi, I'm brand new on the list..my name's Danielle, I'm 20 years
old, go to Syracuse University, live in New Jersey, and I've been a Moby
junkie since I was 13.  My collection isn't all that big, but I'm working
on it.  I also like Bjork, Prodigy (the older stuff..) Pete Tong..and
others.  I also saw Moby in Syracuse, and had the opportunity to talk with
him.  He said he has some singles out this summer..and the CD in Feb.

Just to let ya'll know...  my web pages have come to a dead stand still.
Reasons:  I enjoyed a lovely week in Hawaii two weeks ago (Clay, you lost
your chance to have a free-for-all -- hehe, just a joke).  I spent last
week moving.  This week I'm dealing with the fact that I have to use
somebody else's computer (long explanation omitted) until a new phone line
is installed... looking at May 11th right now.  ):

In the meantime, my access to the internet is extremely limited.  I have
access to email but a text only program (anyone heard of PINE?).  The rest
of it will have to sit tight for now.

I was on those iMusic boards I posted about last week when I saw, on the
Underworld board, an invitation to check out the Underworld list. So, I go
to www.dirty.org <http://www.dirty.org> . Compare the subscribe page there
to Damian's. Compare their archives to our messages. We got a good thing
here, don't tell me, I'll tell you. Their join us thing is very forbidding &
uptight, along with their conversations & attitudes. So what do I do? Well,
I joined. Should be interesting, anyway.

I just wanted to thank Damian for the list & everyone here for making my
working day more pleasant.

ASPEN, MAPLE, (and you guessed it!) PINE!  it is not good, i know....

as for moby, is there anyone here that has enjoyed his recent dance music
(since EiW)?  i for one really think it is great!  i like to listen to it just
for chillin' and groovin' to.  it makes for great drivin music too!

Heard of elm?  Well, it's worse than pine.  We've got that here, but can use other graphic programs as well.

I love Moby, and we'll see with what's coming out next.  If it's not good, I may grow to love it like I did AR, but if not oh well.  We've got about 50+ other Moby albums to choose from.

There's the neutral place someone wanted to have nominated
for the mobility list party!!! I love Hawaii, Maui would make
a great place to have a mobility conference!
I think we need to have a fundraiser first, maybe Moby could
help us out and he could of course be our guest of honor!!!

I haven't had to use PINE since 1995, and I don't miss it!
Shell accounts have their advantages though...
