Hey, for you unix users, try mutt. It has a very nice feature that
recognizes a list msg, and lets you reply to the list, and to the
original sender, only with one key touch.

Yes, I have noticed the problem.

This mailing list has multiple addresses that can be used when posting
an email.  For example:

[e-mail]
[e-mail] **best address for non-digest members**
[e-mail]
[e-mail] **best address for digest members**

I believe the problem shows up when people respond to an email and the
reply shows something like this:

To: [e-mail]
CC: [e-mail]

Both addresses go to the same place but in this case, they are split up
and sent as separate emails.  I believe the mailing program will stop
itself from making multiple copies if there are 2 or more addresses in
each field when "To:" or "CC:" is used.  But it doesn't seem to cancel
if there is only one entry in each field.  Does that makes sense?

The important thing is that when people respond to an email they need to
watch and make sure only ONE address is used when posting to the mailing
list.  It can depend on how you reply when using your mailing program.
I will try to send reminders to those who make this mistake in the
future.

    I've been learning about music theory because I need to for my new
toys....

I was listening to Move last night and doing counts. I noticed that Morning
Dove's changes occur every 32 beats, without fail. (clap your hands beats,
not every drum beat) Disco Threat I think was like that too, although there
may have been one or two changes on a 16 count. I find this very
interesting, the whole concept is new to me. Does anyone have any turntable
mixing advice for me? (reply private) How about interesting Moby beat count
info? Before I listened to his music and loved it. But now I can see & feel
it elevating to a whole new level as I understand more about it.

I have lots of experience mixing, since i'm a DJ, the best advice i know to
give you is to LEARN YOUR MUSIC. And start simple, buy records with a certain
style (prefferably a style you like). BPM's(beats per minute)- count all your
beats per minute on each record you own, at least for now, it will help you in
matching beats and speed, * make sure when you are counting BPMs your
turntable is set for the normal speed of the record. MATCHING BEATS- when it
comes to matching beats it is safe to say for the begginer that this will take
time, my best advice is to start with the first 4/4 beat you hear and count
along with the other record until it is time to start.... *Begginers*  ALWAYS
START ON THE ONE!!!! I notice the biggest problem new Dj's have is that they
don't start on the one beat when mixing into a new song, it's very important,
all the trickery of scratching and odd beat timing will come later.
So I think that covers all the bases. If this helps let me know.

moby seems to play it pretty straight when it comes to changes in his

and since moby's music is generally in 4/4 there are usually 4 in a
measure
so if he let's something go for 8 measures which he does a lot
then you've counted 32 claps....
 if he halfs that before a change then 16 claps
so..........
of course don't try to do that with aphex twin.........

I've never taken a real music class(does junior high band count?). I've been
working on my own tracks for a year or so now and I seem to do fine, i think
it's all a matter of what is going on in your head. My head is full of
music...24/7.

btw, just got the senseless soundtrack, great song by Moby, AND the Jungle
Brothers...i think that is one of the best Jungle remixes i've heard yet...

i hate to shock you, but 99.9% of all techno, d&b, hardcore, whatever is
in 4/4. most phrases are 4, 8, 12, or 16 bars long before repeting.
that's why most keyborad workstations have built in 4,8,12,16 bar loops.
i've NEVER heard a moby track that wasn't 4/4. i'd be interested to see if
anyone could dig one up...

yes.

most moby is in 4/4 (which makes him so much fun to mix into any sort of
house set). most techno is also in 4, 8, 16, or even 32. this knowledge is
key to learning how to mix (i.e. dj) right. counting beats is a really
solid way to get a better understanding of techno and learning how to mix.

this by no means should imply i'm some "DJ PRO"--just the basics.
i'm open to getting schooled by any "DJ PROS" out there.

   I was remixing Moby's next is the E club mix on a computer for a friend's pom pon dance routine, and found that working with his music on such a level brings new feelings of appreciation. Even when you just cut out counts or overlap a voice onto a bassline, it heightens your senses and forces you to ponder Moby's thoughts as he created the music.

Hayden has one full length album, one ep, and some tapes made before
he got big.
Hayden is very thoughtfully quiet, then gritty and loud acustic
music...his songs aren't jingly pop music, they are soulful and many
of his songs are touching....my friends critisise his music for being
to depressing..and his gritty low-fi passionate screaming in the song
skates really bugs them...I wouldn't say he was depressing..touching.
sings about life, and feelings...and he has a new cd coming out soon
and is touring southern ontario(in canada) right now..so I'm going to
go see him in half a month!!!!!!!!!his music so far is mostly only him
with his guitar or bass..and maybe some overlay vocals and
guitar..traces of drums sometimes..but his new album is suppose to
have a full band behind it..but I haven't heard anything from it yet,
so I can't say rightly..

p.s. to the the person who cryed to hayden, felt touched by moby...you
should look into Jeff Buckley's music..I find him very very moving.

I'm slowly beginning to understand....But I don't have a stereo here at
work. Is what you are saying is that the low brooding sound is in 4/4 =
