Hitline 95 is a software CD player that I've used in the past that hsa some
pretty extensive cataloging capabilities. See what you think. Sometimes
it can eat up a lot of resources, so don't say I didn't warn you. You can
read more about it and download at http://www.big3.de/eng/index.htm

if money is short i'd say .rare. was a good bet cause it's a chance to
catch up in ways with his earlier sound
and the second cd of go remixes is important
as that is
a seminal piece of work for da man.

My favorite CD cataloging program is, without a doubt, HANDS DOWN, "CD
Wizzard", by BFM Software, which USED to be readily available on the net...
I have been searching for it at all the software sites for a few minutes
now, with no matches. The program is all that you could ask for in a CD
cataloging program. Its main function is that of a CD player, but click on
the "Disc Database..." option, and a listing of ALL your cd's pops up, for
you to see. Only thing is that right now, I'm having problems opening the
program... it says its because of some device driver problem though, so I
think it's something to do with my computer? Or maybe I am exploring the
limits of the program? (I have over 850 cd's entered into the database...)
The database is still usable though... but I can't enter new data because of
that problem. I don't think it has anything to do with the program, though.
In the "Database" window, you can perform a multitude of searches, like
search for all the cd's of a particular artist, by record label (if you
entered that data), by release year (once again, if you entered that
information, etc. etc. Really fun to look through your collection like
that. Here's the URL to download it (but there may be a newer version
available... I'm not sure. I have version 4.12, and this just says 4.)
http://www.winsite.com/info/pc/win95/sounds/cdwiz4.zip/
And also, due to the great feedback on my Moby Scans page (thanks), I am
going to add more images there, soon. I will keep the list posted. As
regarding the difficulty loading the RARE cover, I had no problem, so I know
the entire file is there. RRR aka delobbo

I used to have that program! I just wanted to warn all of you win95
users out there that CD Wizzard caused me one of the biggest headaches
ever- it took me forever to figure it out, but as soon as I deleted
that program and took all traces of it out of the registry, everything
worked fine. There were all sorts of conflicts going on and I couldnt
use the soundcard execpt through CD wizzard, it basically took over
and decided to be the default cd player and messed things up.
So, I would have to reccomend against it...just my opinion.
I still think a good database program is the best thing for, well,
databases.
How's that for an off topic rant?

If it was me..I'd get either the Remix album, Rare, or BBMH(from
Elektra)...All have a great selection of tracks..ranging in
styles...IMHO..you can't go wrong w/ any of these purchases.

Were you around when this was brought up a while back(don't remeber the
exact date)..it was our opinion(those of us who don't like the Lopez
singles) that the titles do have meaning.
Why Can't It Stop: either his comment on what the rave scene had become, or
why can't the lifeless music stop
The Dirty Underground: How he feels about the scene?
Everybody Can Do It: I think we all know that this is true...Anybody can do
it(electronic music)..but it takes talent to put feeling into it.
Emptiness and Fucked Up: More comments about the above.
Anyways...for the person who's thinking of getting Why Can't It stop..Read
Cerman's interpretation..he's right on. Then decide for yourself.

I love Alone..It's funny to see what different people consider repetitive..I
remember years ago(before EIW was out..may have been even before the Move
ep)..I was listening to the s/t album at home(I had moved back into mom's
for a while to save $$$)...Mom came in..caught a listen..and asked, "How can
you listen to this stuff..it's so repetitive"...I just shruged and commented
that I didn't think it was rep. :) Anyways..back to Alone..yes..bits and
pieces of it are repetitive..but it has so many layers..that it keeps me
interested/listening(unlike the Lopez singles imho).

K..now for some new stuff
I've heard the Mixmag cd in it's entirety...OOOOOOOH....good stuff! I also
think I have a new fav Moby track..I love the Intro Mix of E..Reminds me a
lot of RDJ's "SAW2"...Now all Moby needs to do is give this mix an
"Hymm.Alt.Quiet.Version" treatment..and it'd be great. Love the liner notes
too:
"That's becuase all DJs are uptight, anal, retentive, repressed white
Caucasian fucks."
"You'ver heard of anal retentives?" he asks. "Well I'm an anal expulsive, I
have to just let everything out."
Gotta love the man :).

np: Underworld: "Dirty Epic/Cowgirl"(I soooo much want to skip to Rez..but
I'm going to wait(I'm at the Irish Pub in Kyoto Mix)..Some great stuff on
this single..I woner how I lived so long w/out it :))

I think just as often there are bonus tracks on the US version and
not the UK version, it all depends on which came out first probably-
I've often seen b-sides from singles end up on the next release due
to overwhelming popularity. Tak efor instance "Fool's Gold" which
was the Stone Roses biggest hit- it wasn't on thier debut album
at first but was later added by popular demand.
As for the bonus CD, it's "LIttle Idiot" , very ambient stuff.

ive always been a huge advocate of the trophy singles
and their minimalistic beauty.
i can listen to higher a million times over and never
stop dancing.
when i first bought why cant it stop i had no idea
what it was i just saw the "file under moby" sticker
and bought it. i hardly listened to it until i bought
sugar baby and emptiness when i realized how
fantastic the minimal stuff is. maybe i'm just a big
fan of repetition...
also few people seem to mention the voodoo child
"demons/horses" single. it's in my top 5 favourite
moby cds (of my 35+)

Yeah, I remember the discussion-and I do agree; I just feel that the content

You know what? I just stuck the disc on about 3 minutes ago and I'm
listening to Everybody Can Do It. This is a *great* song!
Alright then; with the exception of "Why Can't It Stop?" it's a good single.
Ok, I've admitted I'm wrong so let's move on ;)

i was finally able to get into town yesterday and found two more Moby's
CD's, which i was thrilled about. i picked up Rare for $8.99 and EIW
Remixed (Import) for $12.99. there was also an imported hymn CD, which i
cried about because i didn't have enough money. <sniff!> i couldn't find
any Lopez or Voodoo Child CD's.. which i was upset about. oh well! i enjoy
the hunt.
is there a difference between the US & import version of AR? i saw the
import at the store yesterday and i was curious to see if it was different.

Wow, you have great prices in AZ (AZ right?) Rare for 8.99 is simply
wonderful! The Remixed CD is hard to come across here in the subs, but I
could get it downtown Chicago I'm sure. Which Hymn was it? The one In have
(This is my Dream, has a blue background. There's a scan at delobbo's place
of it. There's a color difference between the AR discs. One has orange

Yes folks, this is right. It is I, Richard Hall, e-mailing the list,
from Paul Simpson's house in Connecticut, the state I was raised in.
I just wanted to let you all know that I've been reading the list
lately, and you guys are doing a pretty good job. Clay, go to sleep,
it might help you. Oh, about the new cd, it will be called
Obviously if you haven't realized by now, this is just me, Paul
Simpson, playing a stupid April Fools Day prank on you all. I sure
caught your attention with the headline didn't I? No? Oh well.....
AAAAAANyway, touching on some recent issues, I bought my copy of ILTS
in the used bin, just 5 days after U.S. release, in Exile On Main
Street's used bin for $8.99, a promo copy. It has this thing stamped
in gold letters on the cover saying "sale prohibited, return to record
company" you can find things like these at pretty much any music
store. Even ones that never sell used music, because like at Music
Box, they had record company samplers that were ment to be played in
the store. actually, a while ago i saw a few elektra samplers, w/james
bond theme and new stereolab. theyre gone now though...
oh yes, something i wanted to mention a while ago but 4got, i was
browsing one of my "rock star encyclopedias" that i have in my room (i
collect stuff like that) and i discovered something quite odd.
In 1991, a >9-track< >cd-only< release titled >thanks< was released in
the u.s. on an independant label from Texas called J'Ace. Its author:a
former elvis impersonator named: >>>>>>P.J. Proby<<<<<<<<<
And what does that surname rhyme with???? Just an erie, erie
coincidence....by the way, this proby guy was apparently a big rock
star in the 60's in england....oh, he also covered a joy division
tune, "love will tear us apart", his cover featuring Peter Hook....
By the way, that was NOT a joke, but the following is.
I think Moby should go on tour with a few people who also have a
shaved head, like Michael Stipe, R. Kelly, Seal, Ryu, that guy from
Live, that would be cool. (i know i forgot someone in there...)of
course, you'd see some guy from the 60's like pj proby shave his hair
and say, "oh i have no hair, can i join?"
just a thought..........

Let's draw some mental pictures for today, shall we?
We have a blank canvas. For the sun, let's put Moby's bald dome up in the
upper left corner. (view from above) The sun rays are green & yellow, from
the Early Underground cover. We'll take that green/blue Everything Is Wrong
pattern and put in some ocean on the bottom of the page. We'll use Moby's
head again, poking out of the water. This is an island. There's a flower
growing on it, and it looks something like the cover of Rare. Evil Ninja
Moby is standing on the island, and a text-bubble floats above his head with
musical notes floating in them. I'd continue, but I must leave work now.
Bye!
