just because jackal may or may not have been released before ILTS does not mean
he HAD to put shining on the cd. why didn't he put next is the e from cool
world on it then? or anthing else he did from space water onion? the only
explanation i can give is that he chose waht he did because he felt those were
the songs that were best suited for ILTS. where was shining originally from
anyway? wasn't it the Moby E-CD?

It was on the early version of the UK Into the Blue single. When they did a
repressing after Jr. Vasquez did his mixes (which are on ITB #2 and the
Follow Me mix is on BBMH also) they left Shining out due to UK Billboard
chart rules, if I interpreted all the info correctly on the Review Discog at
moby.org.
BTW, what elso did he do for Space Water Onion, and what is the film about?

ILTS was supposed to come out October 21st (although I couldn't find it
anywhere around here for a few weeks afterward). The Jackal came out
November 14th.

The Voodoo Child Mix of BBMH is excellent. Imagine the _-'-_-'-
synth loops from "Feeling So Real", but descending and using the
BBMH chord progression. The mix is a bit on the short side, but
it is a definitely worth getting if you like BBMH. It is more
upbeat and poppy than the darker BBMH remixes (Underground, Para
Los Discos, Wink's Acid Interpretation). It's like FSR meets BBMH.
> -Interactive mix (Ramon Zenker)
My least favorite remix of BBMH, this starts out like a car having
trouble starting up, then adds a bass drum beat, ride cymbal,
claps, and finally gumbyish quasi-techno. Despite its cheesiness,
it has a retrospective feel about it that seems to say "it's hard
to let you go, but I'm getting over it and my happiness is coming
back." :) I guess I am faulting it for excessive oversweet happi-
ness (just like some versions of EYTM that turned me off at first
but are finally starting to grow on me). I just gave it another
listen, and kinda like it. Maybe I'm catching Moby's disease, and
will buy a Spice Girls CD next... ;)
*Ahem!* In conclusion, IMHO the German CD single of "Bring Back
My Happiness" (or GE/UK vinyl, if you can't find the CD) is worth
getting if you like BBMH and Moby's -- excuse me, Voodoo Child's --
clubbier sounding music.
BTW, remember the old track "Who Is Elvis?" It was by Interactive.

Thanks! You're very adept at interpreting sounds as ASCII characters, really
quite good. I do like the Voodoo stylin' and the over-happy stuff I tend to
be picky about. If I see BBMH UK/GE I may pick it up, (depending on my flow
situation) but I won't be hunting for it. I saw Hymn #1 at the store and
read the review for it on your page....and it will be mine. The alt.quiet
one I haven't seen on the racks yet, but I absolutely love most of Moby's
moodier pieces, so I'll be getting that one. I want to thank everyone who
recommended Move to me, I'm very satisfied, VERY VERY happy with my
purchase. Now I have to find it on 12"!

I don't believe this has been mentioned (then again I could be way out
of it). Moby has left Elektra and is now a free agent. This was
mentioned in a recent issue of "Hits" and in a brief conversation that I
had with BT (in town for a concert) who was very complimentary towards
Moby. I believe BT called Moby a "lucky bastard" because he has a
feeling that Virgin might pick him up for a contract. I have never
really liked Elektra so I am looking forward to seeing something new
with a different and well respected label.
Also some people have been mentioning the Moby has done for other
artists and wanting to hear what they are like. I have some audio
samples on a web page of mine. The site is getting outdated and there
aren't that many samples but it will hopefully help. Some are in Real
Audio, others are wave files.
Cheers, damian.

Yeah, I want to thank everyone as well for recommending "Move". I went out
and bought it this weekend because of what you said and really love it.
Someone mentioned that it was good because, unlike other singles, only two
of the songs were remixes of the same songs. I really dig "Unloved
Symphony" (#5) - it's a killer track.
I was wondering if anyone had any comment about the enhanced CD. I've seen
it a few places but it's been relatively expensive. I don't want to get it
for a few songs that are remixes of songs I already have and if the
enhanced portion is just a bunch of slideshows. Should I put this CD near
the top of my list or wait until later?

That's what bugs me. I've heard Moby used as bumper music on Mtv, local
radio, sports events, yadda, yadda, yadda. But never in regular rotation.
That really gets my goat.

well..i guess there are 2 sides to this equation
one is that moby has taken it upon himself to have fun with free market
enter[prizing]
and really wants to be as his name implies.........moby
huge> large. big> giant> great> tremendous>>>>>>>>
on many levels he is all of these things
but what i think he will find is that almost anybody in the world can start
using his stuff
with his label's permission
not his
(who knows to what extent he gives the green light)
and thusly turn his vibe/message/art
into whatever someone wants to do with it>>>>>>
the trade off is that maybe one day half these fools will actually read
everything is wrong
they'll think about it for a minute and go
nnaaaaaaahhh!
but for that minute he will enter their consciousness and maybe
the next time they decide to eat 2 pounds of beef
over a romantic dinner they'll make it
6 ounces
or start trying to eat vegetables more often or
quiy wearing fur
or drving expensive cars that don't get any better mileage than my 72 chevy pick-up>
i know it bugs me when i hear little kids going moby
like puff daaddyyyy
or whhhhhaaaaaaatever
but that's who we are.
nothing is ever allowed to be that good for that long without
someone coming along and well
making it taste and smell a little funny
by the end of the day>
then it's time to be off to smell a new flower...no?
