i'd very much like to hear some stuff from moby like "the blue light of the
underwater sun". it is a track that is rarely brought up here, but is one of
my top 5 moby tracks ever. it's the perfect blend of everything i see in him.
it's got an ambient intro, techno beat and synths, and guitar! a great song.
oh, and the prodigy actually were one of the first jungle acts EVER back in '91.
their roots are most definitely in jungle whether they admit that today or not.

a store yesterday -
maximum electronica vol.1
US CD elektra 62159-2
moby: feeling so real
voodoo child: dog heaven (lopez mix)
i forgot to look for a date on it, but i'm guessing 1997, as i think
1996 would be too early for the dog heaven remix.

The Maximum Electronica cd is from 1997. The Moby stuff is good--i like
the start of Feeling so Real better here than on EiW--and the lopez mix
is good too.
Thats as far as I got on the cd. The Bjork song is Hyperballad from
right off of Post, not a re-mix or anything. Personally I think the cd
is a waste of money. Aphex Twin & the black dog are on there, but the
first half of the cd--before Moby's stuff--didn't do a thing for me and
I wished I'd bought the first Sleater-Kinney cd instead!

Actually, "Dog Heaven (Lopez Mix)" came out at the end of July 1996
on the Trophy5 single. Amazing how time flies... This compilation
was released November 11, 1997. If anybody has it, I'm looking for
confirmed track times...
BTW, I just listened to the US version of _The End Of Everything_,
which is Moby's favorite album that he made, and I like it more
than ever. It's wonderful.

the latest thing that has come across this group seems to be the

Good day all!
To try to answer some questions:
Wes:
I think the first line goes "A change of scene" instead of "seas."
Well, it makes more sense, plus with Jeff's contribution of the Joy
Division lyrics, it sounds like it's a better fit. And somewhere you
left the line to say "we" but I think it's "we're" as in "we're hoping
for something more." The second "we" is the same and I think some other
word goes after it but I can't figure it out. "We're _____ - You're
seeing me this way." As for the last line, I think he says, "Well, I've
lost control." Anyone want to confirm or disregard this?
Jeff:
Sure it may be the same exact song from Joy Division, but I think Wes
was asking for the Moby one. The lyrics are changed because of
infringement suits or some legal sh!t like that. So, the ones above is
what I believe Moby has changed it into.
Clay and everyone else who do not posess it: The "End of Everything" is
a psudonym release of Moby under Voodoo Child. Though, I found most
stores to have stickers on it saying, "file under Moby!" So much for
Moby trying to "hide."
Clay: Joy Division is a band. That's before the lead singer comitted
suicide and the band renamed themselves New Order and became more
popular for some strange reason. And now the basist has formed a new
band that sounds like New Order called Monaco.
I hope that helps you guys some. Late!

i understand who joy division is
so my confusion as to the name of the box-set
i actually own the free
love will tear us apart
single
that the band gave out only to those who asked
right after curtis'
death
i predicted he was gonna kill himself when they released closer
my theory being that
closer
meant closer to death.
so.....i do find it fascinating that moby used these lyrics for his own
work
i also greatly appreciate evrybody's insights to all of these sorts of
matters
as i find this enriches my appreciation of all things grand
in an often difficult world.

First, I don't think Moby would ever take his own life... he's too much
of a fighter and angst ridden to give up. But I wonder what he thinks
about the subject of suicide and if he thinks it's sinful or damning.
Hmm.

anybody who has never pondered the issues of death and
the possibility of a self-inflicted one
is a LIAR
or maybe mickey mouse
even dumb-ass stimpy has known the depths of
despair and discouragement
in an ignorant and hostile world........
the fact that one continues to hold your head up and keep stepping
is really enough in this life to repect each human being as
a brave and courageous soul.
to not only do that but to turn and do the music of one
such as moby is testament to the strength
and durability of the spirit.
where that strength derives from is anybody's argument
i'm sure moby would say it was god.
and i'm sure god wishes he had always done so well.

Drums on The Move is going on my jungle compilation when i get around
to makin it. I already got a phat trip-hop comp, now I'm gonna try
jungle/dnb/breaks etc.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
My friend Spaz will love this one. I promised I'd lend it to him (you
guys don't mind, do you?)
Also, I'm just wondering where all the money went to. I mean, where
exactly did our $10 go? I mean, I'm not saying it wasn't worth evry
penny, it was, but how much exactly went in to what? just wondering....
I counted the number of "GO!!!"s in Epsilon's mix of go. (nice
job!!!!!!!! It got me movin and groovin!!!)
149 go's in total. that's 41 more than in the Amphetamix (remixed by
the super-anti-druggie himself)
for all you clubbheads in NY, BeatRadio is on 1660 AM Radio from 7PM
to 7AM. It rules, check it out. Its WJBM AM from Elizabeth, NJ i
think. Well, i can get it here in CT. When i was in MA with my grandpa
last summer i could get it ther too, when it was still Aahsworld
radio. I'll look for a homepage, if there is one.
I'm gonna update my page soon. Send me OFFLIST your desert island list
(not just moby) and some of your fave movies. And your least/fave
cds/bands. and anything else.
I heard Frozen a few times last weekend. Kool tune. As good as Oh
Father or something. I could imagine Moby doing a mix of it. It might
sound like Anthem off eiw. Maybe.
We really should all meet each other in a chat room someday.
Dreamanalyzer said that once. Not in the next week, I'm going off-line
for a week (no, it's not because of Lent, I'm a Jew). I heard there
was a Mobility IRC, but it meets like 11 pm tuesdays. We could all
meet in Yahoo's new electronica room! maybe not. Whatever. Well, I
wanna talk to y'all.
One last thing:I don't want to start a debate (if you must vent, do it
OFFLIST) but I hate it when people say Prodigy sold out. THEY DID
NOT!!!!! What's wrong with having fans, being on a major label,
debuting at no 1 on the charts, being played on the radio, etc.? Their
music is still good! I praise them for what they do! I'm glad they are
successful! I thing FOTL is one of the most creative #1 albums in a
while! If Prodigy EVER sold out, they did when they hit #3 on the UK
charts with "Charly" in 1991! All the Prod fans thought they sold out
then! And if they "sold out", then Moby has "Sold Out." remember, he's
on a major label too. So is Aphex Twin. I must admit, FOTL wasn't
Prod's best album (that would be Jilted) but it was phat! the
acid-techno-whatever riff-thingy on SMBU (the
bwoooooaaaaooooooowww-b-b-bwaaa-b-bwaaa thingy...you know...) RULES!!
FOTL may not be as happy as Experience, but that doesn't mean it's not
as good! Experience was released on a major as well! Bla Bla Bla Bla
Bla Bla.............PRODIGY STILL ROCKS!!!!!
