Ill tell you what. I would strand myself on a desert island if I could find a
copy of Next is the E there. I have been looking for that CD forever, and it is
my favorite song. Plus, I would get so pissed off at listening to those nice
mellow tracks on EIW if I was stuck on an island that I would throw it away.
But what I was really thinking was that I would like to have Rare B sides and
use the front side to reflect light, burn a palm tree and then get rescued.
That way I would not ruin the playable side and get saved.

Satan, as you call the supreme power of evil, is no more real than your
heterosexuality. Satan was created in the imaginations of facsist christians
and other orginized religions to make us fear our actions and gain control
through fear. There are only two human emotions that god has given us, LOVE
and FEAR. God is all mighty, right? Right, so why would he be constantly
battling an "evil" spirit. Satan is non-existent. Satanism, is a philosophy
that is somewhat close to social darwinism and the teachings of Nietschze.
This belief system promotes the discovery of self and individuality. There
are, however, (just as in any "religion") empty rituals no different than
excepting the host or bread at a sunday mass. These rituals and codes of
ethics are what difine religion and make so empty and uninticing. Religion is
for the sinner and faith is for the believer. In this i mean that religion is
for a quick easy salvation through fear, not accepting wno you are and
assuming(eventhough god loves us) that god wants to place us in firey
damnation. This is wrong. We are all apart of a universe apart of god. God
is not a being, god is everything that is and everything that isn't.. The
fact is i'm sure god doesn't care how we obtain our salvation just as long as
we obtain it. There is no hell. God wants us to realize our magnificence and
"kill ourselves" (not literlaly) and recreate new selves. We are god, god is
us, we are all the same, everything is relative to everything and nothing
else. We need to pursue our own paths up the moutain to our enlightenment and
act on love more than fear. The more we act on fear, the less chance we have
of recreating ourselves. Once reach our optimum possition of complete bliss
and understanding, we will realize we have farther to go. We can talk to god
and ourselves not through the fallacy of words, but through the power of
feeling and the power of expericne. The more we discover as a species, the
less we believe our faith, yet, the more we dicover, it is laid out even
clearer. We are a stupid people and need to open our eyes to the mystery of
uncondition faith and love, not conditional freindships and fear. There are
no messiahs, no prophets, no one is better than anyone else. Jesus, Buddah,
Muhammed, these were all just enlightened people who had questioned
everything, and then found the answer deep within themselves. They found
eternal bliss and people become jellous. Jesus was killed through jellousy
because he knew who he was, had no fear, realized his magnificence and acted
upon it. We all have the power, but are raised through a demeaning torture of
twisted lies and fears. Bring about your own beginning, bring about your
life, "wash away sin and take off your sin." You won't find comfort in the
bible or any other "holy books" or "testaments" because these were written by
people no different then you., these books have not been ordained by god, no
where does it say they were. Find what god is to you and what your salvation
is to you. Remember the bible was written 1000's of years ago for people
1000's of years ago. Find out what your needs are now. I urge you to explore
your newself, which is only possible through the loss of the old self.

ha! that's quite amusing.
circular logic, eh? not only do you submit a bullshit argument as a reason
to maintain faith, but then you point out that you realize it's bullshit,
as well as telling us that you lead your life by this bullshit.
on a more rational note, what is the point in proving our personal
opinions about why we believe in God on a Moby list?
i don't want to start a flame-war, but is it conceivable that the reason
moby doesn't talk about "serious issues" in his music is because he
realizes it's the WRONG forum? hugs and kisses. gx.

although i am an atheist, i feel i should jump in.
religion is not about theology, it's about living your life in a certain
sort of way. christianity is less about worshipping jesus, as it is about
treating your neighbours in a respectful way, and trying to do the right
thing.
one more thing before i leave this list...... i've noticed that there are a
lot of vegheads here. i only have one thing to say to you..... get out of
your fantasy utopian world and join reality. i'm sure everyone would love to
live in a magical world where there is no suffering and everyone loves each
other, but that just isn't going to happen. i'm sure everyone would love to
live in a wonderful happy land where you can maintain proper health through
the eating of plants, but human beings need meat. that's why mother nature
made us this way. if she didn't want us eating meat, then she wouldn't make
us want to, would she? meat is an important part of your diet, and you
people are going to regret not eating it when you're old and gray.
if you want to argue, send it here rwparen@cyberus.ca , inri has left the

people are getting copies of the cd already? I hope i get mine
soon...i know i sent in the money, i hope no one stole it...$10 is a
lot of money to a 14 year old...
Oh, for the people who wanted a copy of my tape, um, I'm sorry but I
can't make copies and sent them out to you all. You'll have to send me
blank tapes. I'm sort of a cheepskate, but I'm only a kid. . o 0 (Now
nobody is going to want a copy!) Sorry for any inconveniences.
I still have to put a few finishing touches on it. There are some trax
I recorded onto other tapes previously that I speed-dubbed onto this
tape, so they sound like crap now. Damn. I'll have to dub them agin.
And there are other songs that I'm still not sure I want to keep on
it. I probably will though, It's nice to have some goofy songs on it I
guess. My brother wrote a song about cheese and a song about dinosaurs
and we recorded them and they sound kind of silly. But my keyboard
playing saves them from totally sucking, I guess.
Guess i gotta go. bye

Did any1 else get the cd? I hope my $10 didn't get lost in the mail,
that would suck, and I really want the cd!!! bla...
I would definitely take EIW to a deserted island. It is a perfect
album. I was listening to it last nite (for some reason I'm listening
to every cd/tape in my collection in abc order) and when i heard God
moving... I was thinking of things that make me sad...particularly
when my favorite radio station WYBC went off the air...well not
really, they just eliminated all student programming and are a 24 hour
commercial r&b station now...yukk!!
or like when this kid station Aahs World Radio went off the air...I
mean they played a lot of krap, but it was nice to know there was a
radio station network for kids only...one song that was in heavy
rotation a few months before they shut down was moby's james bond
theme...kool...i hope wnhu and wpkn never go off the air, or wsmu in
north dartmouth massachusetts (saturday nite from 8 to 2 is tha bomb
on that station, they play all techno music...dance/rave in the
beginning, then jungle/trip hop/ambient after midnite, its awesome...i
was listening to "letter of fate" by goldie and i was thinking about
things like that...)
after i listened to EIW i listened to ILTS, the next in my
collection...when GOD moving was on then, i was half-asleep...it
reeally brings you into another world when you're not fully
awake...when first cool hive started i was so jolted out of this other
world that i woke up..but i fell asleep again by the end of the song,
i woke up at midnite today...so i have to listen to ILTS again...
I listened to New Dawn Fades, which i usually skip over because i
think its a boring dirge, but i listened to it and it really moved
me...he packs so much emotion into it...
of course my fave joy division cver is Bush/Tricky's (in a lonely
place" a nice quiet ambient song, enhanced by soft buzzing
synths...good to fall asleep to, after all the other electronic noise
on the Deconstructed disk...I love the goldie mix on that cd too, its
better than the original...
whenever i listen to eiw, i feel like an old dead friend comes to me
and tells me a 45 minute bedtime story...and when wicil2d comes on,
she's saying goodbye, and floating back up to heaven...i almost cry
listening to it...maybe they shouldve used it in titanic or
something...i've never ssen it though...
oh, if you want a copy of my tape, you'l have to e-mail me for my
address..I'm sorry i can't send you all a copy, you'll have to send me
a blank tape (wait, I said that already..)
bye...

Subject: (mobility) Reply to Ryu and but not _the_ frankz
Well, Ryu...
That was a good answer. Problem is, frank definitly has a point when
he says "except when I pull your leg" for that gravity remark.
I suppose you could still say that there is no proof of gravity...Lets
say the only reason you fall when your leg is pulled is because you
think that you are supposed to fall, not because there is a force that
makes you fall.
Anywayz, my point is, anything is possible. I just cant seem to put
ALL my faith in something I have no real proof of...That just seems
dangerous to me. (The problem with my own line of reasoning: How do I
know that "real proof" is actually proof, or just my own perception? I
could have solid scientific proof right in front of me, but I might not
percieve it as such. Of course, that is only questioning the nature of
reality itself, which is rather pointless...Since all we have to go on
is our own powers of observation anyway.)
I may be rambling here, but I'm only trying to say that faith is
belief, not knowledge...Which Ryu seems to be aware of. I have my own
faiths too...everyone does...I just cant place ALL my trust in a god I
havent seen.
Well, sorry for babbling on. I'll check in later.
Love,
vampris

I think this is a good and valid question and I appreciate your
tactfulness in asking it. Here's my logic (and please excuse me because
I am not that great at expressing myself through writing).
Often, I have thought to myself that if Moby were on the list he would
probably bring these things up and encourage talk about religion and
philosophy. Then I would probably go along with it... but it would be
on the basis that his participation was involved.
Many forums are out there that discuss religion and philosophy whether
it is a mailing list or a newsgroup. If people want to discuss those
topics, why can't it be done there since the forum was designated for
that exact purpose? Granted, if you allude to Moby, people won't know
what you are referring to but that is the price (I guess) that must be
paid. I figure since I created this list SPECIFICALLY for the
discussion of Moby, then that is what it should focus on.
Too often I have seen debates on religion/philosophy turn into endless
rebuttals that go back and forth (not to mention the flame wars and lack
of respect that often goes with it). Besides, the conversation often
narrows down to two or three people who insist on being right or proving
a point that the other party will never see. Yet this all happens as
hundreds of people stand by saying "I'm bored with this already and when
can we get back to talking about something... anything... that relates
to Moby." I don't think the price is worth it and I am not up to the
task of maintaining a list like that because my interest is just not
there.
Simply put - keep it related to Moby and I'm happy. Even if the thread
goes off track I won't mind too much because I know where it started and
going off course is sometimes easy. Hopefully, everyone will keep in
mind what this list is about and move the conversation, if needed, to a
personal forum. I don't think this is much to ask. Many times it feels
like a balancing act because I don't want to be an "iron hand" and yet I
don't want other lists members to suffer through a slow resolve.
I dearly hope that this makes sense and is understandable to everyone.
To me, there is a definite distinction about what is appropriate when it
comes to these topics. Not everyone agrees with me but I am trying to
do the best I can.
Sincerely,
Damian
