I have to put in ONE cent in this hotly debated, controversial cd rack debate.  The worst thing you can do is buy one of those pre-slotted cd racks (most of them are).  These should never be used, if you intend on categorizing your cd's in anyway (I do it by artist, and chronologically within).  Say you have your Moby collection in there, and you buy one old Moby cd you didn't have before - now you have to reorganize your entire collection.  Anyways, the cd "rack" is the way to go, that is, the kind where you can put a cd in anywhere you want, without much rearranging.  Sorry for the lack of Moby content.  RRR aka delobbo

Hey, how did you get to hear that? Live? The song index lists it unreleased.

BTW: I like the page you edit even though I don't know who the bands are. I
like reading record reviews even when I don't know the music. Ricochet's is
particularly interesting because the Christian's music is walking an almost
parallel line to mainstream and it's interesting to hear the comparisons in
the reviews. Why no picture? Just that other dude talking to you on the
phone.

mediocre music ;)

Actually, we got in about 14 copies of Crystal Ball (his newest) at work
and we still haven't sold 1.  Then again, we've only sold 2 Moby cds in the
9 months we've been open...

that might be because of the fact that it's 40 bucks and it doesn't even
list what songs are on it. What good reason is there to not list what
tracks are on a cd? Still, I've got to admit that I'm contemplating
buying it.

Ok, now the Moby part...
I've heard that Moby does a rap on some song for a group called Recoil..
how hard is this to find, and is it worth getting?

I used to have the 'Batcan' and I couldn't GIVE it away
at the used record stores...
(the limited ed batman soundtrack in a can)
because they didn't know what it was or if it was real or something
(plus it was sooo funny shaped, it wouldn't work in the racks)
I really like that CD, but I needed money and expected
it to be valuable...
well, that's damn boring. On the artist formerly known as 'the artist
formerly know an prince' (when he decided that name sucked)
I haven't heard anything since then (89)
but those outfits!!! geez, makes me want to deny ever having
purple rain or 1999!!!!
At any rate, I tend to dislike anything with a hip-hop/urban
kind of sound- so I really kind of dropped prince from my
personal playlist..
which brings me to Massive Attack-
I wish I could hear a song or two (mp3s?)
Some people have said it is dark, gothic influced electronic music
which intrigues me greatly-
But then also people have said it has a hip-hop/soul kinda thing
going too, which makes me hesitant-
Too much of that kinda ruins it for me...
I'm really turned off by the yo boy sound
It ruined quite a few MLWTTKK songs in my opinion, is MA like them
at all...soimetimes dark, gothic, techno- with divas and a soul pop
kind of sound over all of it?
A good parrallel example with Moby would have to be the
reggae guy on Feeling So Real- he ruins it for me sometimes.
Although songs like Move have a real diva soul kind of thing
going, I really love it- it works great for me somehow.
But it's not a general rule- I've bad tripped on crappy house
too many times, and most soul influenced divas turn me off.
There are exceptions though...
My 2 cents plus interest, since I haven't posted much lately

YES. I don't care for the Moby track all that much, but the rest of
that album is excellent. Recoil is Alan Wilder from Depeche Mode,
and I think he was the best part- a very talented songwriter
that was not allowed to contribute that much with Martin in charge.
Moby also does a remix for Recoil on the Faith Healer CD single
(the Barracuda Mix)
Other vocalists on the recoil album include the singer from Nitzer Ebb,
(Faith Healer), and Toni Halliday.
That album shouldn't be hard to find, I have the mp3 of Curse
as well as faith healer (Barracuda Mix)if anyone wants it.

A. - it's way overpriced

    cds albums (never released before) and a t-shirt, plus ltd packaging.
D. - there is no single to support it/no airplay
E. - nobody really cares anymore besides his fans

Thanks for the compliments. I have an interview with Moby in the can I
conducted for Daniel Cerman/Moby.org that I'm thinking of revising for RIM
either in August or February. Moby is also appearing on "v.beta" RIM's very
first cd compilation. He was gracious enough to donate an edit of "dog
heaven (extended mix)." The cd should be released July 4th weekend and will
be available via RIM OnLine (http://www.ricochetmusic.com) mail order for $7
(includes shipping). Other artists appearing on the sampler include Every
Day Life (LA rap/punk), Vigilantes of Love (the best band out of Athens,
GA), Bon Voyage (lo-fi indie girl pop), Britannika (d-n-b meets indie pop),
the Huntingtons (striving to be the Ramones), Kevin Clay (folk-rock for
stalkers), evanescence (teen-age goth pop from Arkansas), Adam (noise rock
from Ohio), Battered Fish (art-rock from Austrailia), and several others.

I'm glad you like the reviews, Most of them up there are pretty old. I have
about 20 or so new ones we're going to start filtering in over the next
couple of months. And there is no photo of me, because people do not need,
nor do they probably want, to see a photo of me. I have no illusions of
being overly attractive. And that "dude" is Ronnie Martin, front man for Joy
Electric, a great little electro-pop outfit from LA that was our cover
feature back in Feb. I think the cartoon guy is a little cheesy, but the
publisher likes it, so I don't complain much.

I am worried, I don't like spending money on a CD only
to find out that I hate it. Labeling music genres is one
of the only ways to stop this from happening-
I mean seriously, what if every different kind of music there
is was all lumped together and there was no separate country and
western section, or jazz, or gangsta rap, or heavy metal?
People would have to buy based on thier own predjudice associated
with music- if there's a cowboy on the cover STAY AWAY!!!
Or if the album cover shows a bunch of guys with addidas sweats
and gold chains...you could bet it might be rap. How the hell
would we ever find the techno????
Every album cover would have to show a bunch of keyboards or
people in 'cat in the hat' hats dancing around or something.
My point is that labels are neccassary to a certain degree.

I think you are reading TOO far into what I said there...
As far as I knew, urban had stopped meaning 'from the city'
a long time ago...it describes a musical style.period.

I've never seen any pictures of them, or heard anything that
would have led me to think that! No, that would not discourage
me a bit- how it SOUNDS is all that matters to me.
It's true that terms like soul, hip-hip, urban, whatever tend
to refer to mostly black artists- but if you think I would like
or not like artists based on thier color, that's crazy!
It just happens to work out that I don't like many black artists
simply because I don't like thier music. I'm attracted to music
I like, and I'm not polite about pretending to like music I don't
like just to be politically correct or something,
why do so many people assume that if I say I don't like Puff Daddy-
it's because he's black?? NO! I just think he sucks, end of story.
I don't really like rap (or more specifically, I don't like the
music- rap to music I like and I love it) And yes, I do kind of
like the new Puff Daddy thing with Jimmy Page. Not enough to buy
the CD, just enough to not make me sick.

I don't listen to music to maintain an image of any kind,
I listen to enjoy the feeling and emotion behind it, and to
analyze what's going on for my own ideas on making music.

With regards to MA, I don't think it's easy to pigeon-hole
them. They've experimented a bit with punk/indie as well as
the other stuff. They keep changing and are open to
different styles. That's why I think they're so interesting.

Curve has come back and have released a new album, 'Come Clean', which hits
alot more electronica than I think it should, but nonetheless, its still a
good CD. Toni and Dean make a great duo. They're going on tour soon with The
Dandy Warhols as the opener. They did a mini-tour earlier this year and I
saw it in Chicago...not bad.

I heard several times JB Theme after the film was released, but never though
there was a Moby fan on TV, but (unfortunately) somebody who gets trendy

    I was watching Eddie Griifin's comedy hour on HBO the other day. His
stage name / nickname is, you guessed it, Voodoo Child. He was hilarious
when he was off the wall, when he did his stereotype acts, it was kind of
lame. His impression of a white guy was of a stereotype of an uptight
yuppie.  Maybe I'm being silly, but it bothered me a little. However, his
charades about black people were very funny to me. I wonder how a white
comedian doing a caricature of a black guy would be received by a black
person. Hmm.
    Club iMusic made a Moby mistake, saying that Moby created Oil1 brand
new for the Saint.
    My buddy Taco was playing my Animal Rights CD which I lent him and
his girlfriend was saying that her sister has it, too. She also said she
really really liked it a whole lot. Taco got her to rant and rave about how
great it was before telling her who it was. You see, she is very anti-Moby,
anti-techno, anti-dance. And anti-hip-hop. Just alternamuzak on the new rawk
alternative, Q101.

The new Massive Attack (actually, any of their material) sounds nothing
like MLWTTKK.  It's kind of funny, trying to picture Daddy G spout out some
Groovy Mann lyrics "Put your eyes on the road and SUCK the wild!"...Their
stuff is fairly mellow, and yeah the new album is much "darker" than
previous releases.  It's not nearly as good as Protection or Blue Lines
however.  The Teardrop 12" is phenominal though-Primal Scream & Mad
Professor both do spectacular mixes...

I thought I had finally lost the last thread of sanity I
had left. It was doing my head in because I thought I heard
their new single a few weeks ago, but wasn't sure.
Toni and Dean are a great duo and I was a tad gutted when
they split. Maybe they're trying to be a bit too trendy
today!? Still, I'd like to hear the album soon.

Did they do much of their old stuff when you saw them in

'positive discrimination' is bollox - it's still
discrimination and all discrimination, no matter what race,
religion, gender or sexuality you are is negative. 'Two
wrongs don't make a right'; 'violence breeds violence' and
all that.....'love spreads', forgiveness and common
understanding, is the way forward people.

Although he used sterotypes that are not accurate portrayals, I am all for
it whether it offends me or not. I beleive that the whole "don't offend
these people and don't say this to them" thing is bad. It makes people too
careful, unlikely to speak their mind at all because one tiny thing they say
might......It discourages open communication which is the key to racial
harmony.

read about them go to a used cd store and hear them for free
mixmag rated their blue lines cd from some time ago as the most
important dance album of all time

okay sorry i wasnt online in a few days...

hmmm, for a whil i thought i was in trouble, with my name as the
subject for a series of letters (dont scare me like that clay!!!)

i dont think prince's music is all that great, but i do not at all in
any way doubt that he is influential, talented, and can write some
good music. i've only heard like his pop stuff, so maybe i might like
his undaground stuff, maybe i dont know.

and i love rap music. i mean, not all rap music (we all know how much
i h8 puffy to deth) but like wu-tang rules, and like tribe called
quest, and de la soul, j.beez, fugees, dr. octagon, prince paul,

sunday i unexpectedly went to the music store, and i bought...i
bought......i bought.....ANIMAL RIGHTS W/ LITTLE IDIOT!!!! WOO HOO!!!
It was 26fuckin$ but i had a $10 gift certificate PLUS a used cd PLUS
my mom owed me some credit there (hanukkah present) so it was real
cheap. Plus i bought "Endtroducing....." used for $8. FINALLY. i guess
it was kind of a FINALLY kind of day. btw, theres a cool dj shadow

about AR/LI: I thought these cds were cool. They were not as good, as
diverse, or as memorable as EIW but they were still cool. it's funny,
i was like singing along to AR, but like the only songs i remember the
words and/or melody to are Revolver (well duh ive heard it like a
million times) and for some reason Someone To love...and Come On Baby
(from the cryst. meth. remix which i remember better than the original.)
The ambient cd is pretty cool too.

btw someone asked what that "moving cuz the crowd says so" sample was
in ah-ah. in the ILTS liners it said it was "MC Shah-King". i didnt
know that that was what he was saying, i was like, "movie's got the
classics, what?" so thanks, it makes a lil sense now.

Actually..I wasn't wondering who singing it..but if it was in there because
of how Moby has felt in the past for the rave culture.  I'm glad I could
help though(Isn't it funny how each person can interpret a lyric?  I've
heard/seen about 5 different versions for the lyrics to Ministry's "Psalm

no, it's not an actual porn film.  there's a little tiny article about it in
the current SPIN.  moby says, in answer to a Q like that: ".. there's
nothing really sexual about it, except that they're talking about dildos and
butt plugs."  he even has a role in it, and did the music. the article makes
this sound really interesting.  it's suppose to come out this christmas.
so.. that's all i can tell you.  the article is in their usual Coverage

Yeah, even if I am writing way after this topic died, I had to get my
two cents in here.  I've seen lots of musicians in interviews say how
terrible it is that people label music and how wrong that is.  However,
that's really lame.  How are the majority of us to determine what to
listen to or not.  Not everyone watches the MTV music commericials (or
"videos" as some call them), and a lot of us don't kill our brain cells
listening to commercial radio, either.  So not everyone can say whether
or not they want to buy a particular band's CD or not without some sort
of brief classification.  Without the classification system for music, I
probably wouldn't waste my time looking for CD's at all, and I would
just not listen to music.

well, maybe that's a little extreme, but I'd really have a tough time
with it, that's for damn certain.

the main reason i don't like to label music is because of what
stupid scientists call "the self-fulfilling profecy".  they say that if you
call something or someone something enuff, even if it is unjustly, that
thing or person will inherit qualities that you've defined for them.

with music, i don't like it to be labeled because i believe it restricts
a musicians creative growth.  if i'm going to a show, and i don't
know any of the bands, but i know it's a ska show, i know
exactly what to expect.  there will be very few surprises for me there.
and i'll be unhappy.  bands that fit into a mould of any stereotype
or genre are bands that suck ass.

that is why i got interested in moby so quickly.  because every cd
i picked up was somethign else....something new....something different.

yes, labeling music can help a consumer to find it, which is fine....
but i think most musicians are concerned with a different type
of labeling than that.

I went to Stinkweeds last night (for a small show.  The bands were
'Frodus' and 'BlueBird'.  If you ever get a chance to see them, do it!
The singer of 'BlueBird' is hotter than all heck, but that's another
story. :) and I found the 'Everytime you touch me' single.  I love it!  I
was very saddened by the second song 'Blue light of the underwater sun'.
I was getting all into it, not even suspecting how it the spoken word part
would end.  Needless to say, I just wanted to slam dunk all the "comercial
tuna fisherman"!  It's a good thing I refuse to eat tuna!  (Poor Dolfins!)

Well, just wanted to share.  Was any one else scared when they first heard
that song????  Any one feel my pain?

Oh yes, quite a bit...I was overwhelmed with emotion, I ran through
several different feelings before the song ended...
it's not the same after you've heard it many times though,
I anticipate the music, it's no surprise...and I love the intensity
of that song, so much anger and chaos, yet on the verge of joy.
That voice at the beginning is this guy who has a whole series
of tapes for hypnotism, astral projection, and lucid dreaming.
I also loved the song because I had the same idea back in 92,
I made a song with a bunch of samples from him talking about
astral projection and how to achieve it. It's called 'Orange Liquid'
and it was recorded with a radio shack 4 channel mixer onto a
crap tape deck so I never really did anything with it, and later
when I had the chance to re-record it I thought it sucked!
I want to re-do the whole thing, but I'm short on equipment at
the moment. If anyone wants to hear it though, I'd be glad to
make an mp3 or realaudio and send it to you.

sorry, i've had trouble getting through on this list, but here's what
i've been trying to say for a while...sorry if this may not be relevant
anymore, but hey, it's still about moby.
this is how i organize my cds:
i have at least 400 cds and steadily growing. i arrange them in
alphabetical order, and as close to chronological order as possible,
e.g. import animal rights(1996) before u.s. animal rights(1997).  lopez
and voodoo child, despite them not being in order, i file under moby.
my favorite track on "move" is 'all that i need is to be loved (mv)',
and running a close second is 'unloved symphony'.
my favorite mix of into the blue? well, it's a toss-up between the
beatmasters mix, the summer wind mix, and the simple mix.
as for favorite era/genre?
definitely anything on mute or elektra, especially the everything is
wrong period, although i really like some AR b-sides like 'everyone of
my problems' and 'sway'.
i'm not necessarily into the cover of 'i like to score'. it's not nearly
as cool art as EIW or AR, but you know what? the contents more than make
up for the lackluster design.

first film, Eraserhead He and Angelo Badalamenti have collaborated on both
sounds and score for Lynch's work.  The pilot movie and series only gives
credit to Badalamenti but I Like to Score gives credit to both Lynch and
Angelo.  Move did NOT inspire the score to Twin Peaks, rather TWIN
PEAKS(Laura Palmers Theme) was SAMPLED by Moby to use in Move.  Move was
inspired BY Twin Peaks not the other way around.  Moby is a great artist,
but please give credit where credit is due.

Ususally I HATE flagrant sampling (ie Puff Daddy "I'm unoriginal" Combs).
In this case though it is forgivable because the sample does not stand out
as obvjiously as Puffy's samlping.

Who else here hates sampling?  Do you think it is okay and in what
circumstances?

I don't know who it was that said Laura Palmer's theme was inspired
by Go!- but I never remember hearing that. And it is Go! we are talking
about here- not 'Move'. As far as what I think of Moby sampling it,
I think it's fine with me. It works quite well, and he gives credit
where it is due because Moby is a humble man.

There is a big difference between using loops of sampled music

the main melody of the song...they should be considered cover songs
rather than originals, even with the new lyrics they really owe it
all the the original song.

music, it gets annoying. "I'll Be Missing You" would've sounded totally
different if Puffy wouldn't have used the same bass line over and over
again and ripped off the song. I'm surprised Sting sang with him at the
music awards awhile back, actually. If I were Sting, i would've been
pissed. Puffy's not bad, but he needs to tone down his sampling. Groups
like the Chemical Brothers, who sample mostly voices, doesn't get near that
bad. Look at "Going Out Of My Head" by Fatboy Slim. It samples mostly the
same stuff over and over again, but still manages to not get on my nerves.
He knows how to sample. Puffy can puff on this unless he starts making real
music. (Even though I did defend him a while back.)

together, etc.

think they always bother me.  If someone is just ripping off a song and
does nothing but change the lyrics, then that's not that artistic.  But a
lot of songs use samples in pretty artistic ways that results in a great
new piece.  I don't think a song should be criticised /just because/ it
uses samples.  If it's a good song, it should be hailed as a good song.  I
agree though, that credit should definately be given to the source of the
sample as well.

Um, how exactly is Halcyon an example of oversampling? Ok, so the sample
(from Opus III's It's a Fine Day) is repeated a lot, but it's been cut up,
reversed, and generally messed about with... unless you mean the live
version (with the Bon Jovi and Belinda Carlisle samples), but that's just a
bit of fun, isn't it? :)

Here here.  I do believe that DJ Shadow's sampling is by far some of the
best I've heard out there (admittedly, that's not too much).  Then again,
DJ Shadow uses a lot of samples of old soul/funk music that no one seems
to know about...an unknown sample tends to fly farther.

I once heard that the Chemical Brothers used some obscene amount of
samples on their albums.  In the thousands.  I found that hard to believe,
but who knows?

And I think the reason why Fatboy Slim, and Moby for that matter, sample
so that it doesn't get on people's nerves, is that their music builds on
itself.  Unlike some shit techno out there, and Puffy as well, good
samplers use what they sample as a basis for something.  The music itself
is constantly changing, constantly flowing, and the result is much more
pleasing, in my experience.  I mean, look at the second disc to BT's _Ima_
double disc.  The whole "Blue Skies" segued into the next track (and the
next, if I remember correctly, making for a grand total of about 50-60
minutes straight of music) builds and releases.  That's where sampling
should go...not to a verbatim playing of the original song.

Just my two cents...I know much less about this than I think I do,

I wasn't scared. Agitated, excited, moved beyond words. Seriously, I tracked
down the import ETYTM single last year when the last round of raves about
"Blue Light" went through the list, and it instantly became one of my
favorite cuts. It is a quitessential Moby cut. The spiritual/ecological
center the techno/rock combo (that has since become one of Moby's
trademarks) and the perfect balance of the song makes me wonder why he used
it just for a bside when it probably would have made EIW a better record
than it already was.

Amen Brother, samples that can obviously be identifed are not only cheezy
but unoriginal and I feel insulting to the original author, their music
was not good enough so the sampler feels he has to "improve" on it, which
is usually anything but an improvement.  Does anyone know the legality of
sampling?  Is the Secodnary artist required to just give credit or are
they required to pay royalties as well?

Puffy should get some talent, not only does his sampling and perpetual
producer status prove his unworthyiness in writing music, but I have seen
two live shows with him and "his family" and none of them can sing or hold
a note.  My sentiments were shared in a recent Spin review of one of his
concerts.  How can soeone with solittle talent maek so much money?

I don't think they could be remixed at all.
Dark Side of the Moon has parts that sound like Underworld did them
yesterday-it's unnecessary.

Cleopatra put out a Pink Floyd tribute a couple of years back which a lot
of you have probably seen: "A Saucerful Of Pink".  It's probably the
closest anybody will come to paying respectful "hallucinogenic" homage to
the great pioneers...

I thought at first that it was Josh Wink, uncredited. He sounds exactly the
same on three spoken word sequences on "Left Above The Clouds" I listened
more & more, and there are tiny little patterns in the voices, and I can
slightly distiguish them apart. It IS Moby. I'm positive.

This song took me by surprise, too. The same things happened when the
narration took that twist to me as did to all of you. And then the agitated
dolphins as part of the music, it was a rough expirience the first time.
Very powerful.

The pictures look /slightly/ different.  I think it's wholly possible that
two people get the same idea.  The picture effect is probably something
standard on some sort of software and both people may have thought it
looked like a cool effect.  This is just giving them the benefit of the
doubt.  But you may be right.  They may have stolen the pic like dirty dogs.

hey mobyites

um, see my local modern rawk station has this techno show on sat.
nites/sun. mornings from 10 pm to 2 am, its called "Radio Brothers
Electro Circus" (god that is a stupid name!)
anyway i was listening to it last night, and dave the wave (the dj)
played this really interesting tune. It was a remake/remix/whatever of
"Go" by some German techno/trance band. I'm not exactly sure who it
was. He introduced it like, "This is some really interesting German
record. It's a remake of Moby's first single, 'go'." I forgot who it
was by unfortunately. I think the band name had the word "Limit" in
it, and it was also credited as featuring some dj. so it's like, Limit
(?) featuring DJ (?), "Go". whatever
anyway, the song was kind of a trancey version of go. it sampled the
"Yeahhh..." part and of course the "GO!" sample and that piano part,
you know the "DONGGGGgggg...." and of course the twin peaks laura
palmers theme. it was just basically a new mix of go. actually, he
didn't say if it was new or a few years old or what. whatever. so if
you see this in stores somewhere or hear it at a club, youll know what
im talking about. or something.
and actually the radio station cut the stupid song off after like a
minute for a commercial break. damn commercial radio.
I remember once he played "stella" by Jam and spoon and i thought it
kind of sounded like "go".

anyway, i heard some other interesting stuff on that show. there was
one song that sampled that scream, that "AAAAAAAAaaaaaaa--OOOOooo"
from "Rock the House". Actually, it was more like, "AAAAAAAAAA" and
around here they just kind of distorted it and like extended it. that
was a kind of house-y track. and either the same song or the song he
mixed it with. sampled that "Party Time!" sample that was used in, um,
well guess!
so i guess lots of djs study moby's early records like EU and stuff.
cool.

btw, i know i've heard that scream sample from rock the house in

well after hearing all that i was like, so when am i gonna hear "Next
is the-next is the-next is the E!" mixed in somewhere? and just as i
thought that, i heard that sound in Victory mix of NITe, that sound
thats like a record spinning really fast? you know what i mean?
whatever.

that dj also spins a lot of bootleg dance mixes of like rock songs and
stuff. like he played this dance remix of "Lets Go Crazy" by prince.
it was weird like the organ part in the beginning came on and i was
like, hey this is from lets go crazy, and then priinces voice came
on...well basically it started with that whole "dearly beloved" part
and then after that the track stops and than goes into this house
track and than loops samples of prince saying "life....the
afterworld..."

and thats not the weirdest thing he played. he's been playing a
bootleg remix of "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaac. Eeek. and he also plays
remixes of Janes Addiction, and Collective Soul, and believe it or not
Led Zeppelin. and he played this really cool jungle mix of sarah
mclachlan. not the roni size remix of her, but this really phat mix of
adia. and he also played this jungle mix of r+b singer Monica that was
cool.

well anyway this show is on 10 pm to 2 am eastern time saturday nite
to sunday morn. the radio stations websit e is
<http://www.radio104.com> and dave the wave has a page there so you
can read some stuff about it. but theres not much on it. and you can
listen to the radio station over the net so you can hear this show
too. and if you ever see that remix record of go check it out.

also, guess what song i heard yesterday, "ooh i just KNOW something
good is gonna happen!" no, i didnt hear "cloudbursting" by kate bush,
i heard Utah Saints! you know, that was only the second time i'v ever
heard that song? the first time was back in 92, when MTV played it
believe it or not.
i also heard some new massiv attack (fucking Blazin'...thats good btw)
and i heard some of the new tricky (that shit is WEIRD. weird as in
not too good. but ive only heard one song so maybe theres some good
stuff on that.)

It looks like they're the same thing to me.  If there are changes, it
looks like the picture was taken/copied, then adjusted from that point.
I think the lighter ICP picture brings out more detail.  Interesting.

I agree.  I don't remember any one saying that 'L.P's theme' was MOBY
inspired.  I think maybe some misreading happened. As I said, I heard

it's a bit strange, but definatly good. imagine sarah mclacklin (sorry,

more out of tune and constantly changing molodies. i like the slower and
darker stuff much more than the "heaver" tracks.
definatly check it out. not techno in any way though...i just love her

For a while, my bf though that it was 'Alone'.  He was kind confused when

I too think it's MOBY.  I think he has quite a distinct voice.  I've

inspired BY Angelo Badalamenti's score, setting Don straight.  Perhaps you

Almost. Except that Go! (original version) was written entirely
by Moby with no hint of 'Laura Palmers Theme'. Later, he discovered
that LPT fit quite well mixed with Go! and he added it to the song.
Both were completely original, but separate. Moby takes the credit
for finding that they fit together well though...right???
It's the Evil Ninja Moby....the DJ in him no doubt that realized it.

 with you xaq- don't mind the date, my comp's screwed up- anyway-  i got =
the album about three weeks ago and i've been listening to it non stop- =
 i know the album was brought up weeks ago on list and that's what made =
me run out and get it- but... the album kicks butt hard core-  all the =
tracks on the album are great- there is a wonderful mix of sounds and sty=
le on the cd-  if you enjoy 'when it's cold i'd like to die' and ' into =
the blue' from "everything is wrong" than you'll really enjoy this album-=
 i love the second track - 'fire and roses'-  by all means if you haven't=
 picked up this album -go out and buy it-  her voice is so beautiful and =

BTW 'Go' isnt the only song to sample Laura Palmer's Theme. Its popped up a
few times - usually pretty interesting and stirring (like Go's use of it).

Latest is "Its There in Your Eyes" off 'Hello Bellybutton' by Friendly (a
Sydney project by Andrew Kornweibel). Anyone who sees this CD or the
sampler 'Elements' (mds H2SO4) which also features it - should give it a
listen.

On the whole sampling argument - I get worried by the young idiots who dont
realise the unimaginative sampling (over-sampling) by your Puff Whatsits
and DNA (remember Toms Diner?) is even sampling. They've never heard the
original!

So is the secret of good sampling:
i) finding stuff no-ones ever heard of to loop?
ii) using recognisable stuff sparingly?
or
iii) turning something familiar into something totally new?

I reckon one of the obvious legends of the sample have gone unmentioned
thus far:
Pop Will Eat Itself.
PWEI did all three of the above - though sometimes without great success.

I managed to track down her album too(it wasn't easy), I think it's
*ok*. I was hoping that there would be some type of a collaboration with
Moby, but there isn't. I don't think he's mentioned in the "thank yous"
in the cd jacket either, but the writing is kind of hard to read(those
with the album know what I mean).
Anyway, she does have a beautiful voice. it's rather soothing.
btw, for those interested- the album has a cover of "black hole sun".

I have a sad announcement to make regarding news that I just received over
lunch today. I'll get over the current state of depression I am in at the
moment, but let me tell you why I'm in this current condition which has left
me in awe.

The Phoenix Festival which was to have happened at Stratford-Upon Avon, has
been cancelled due to poor ticket sales. I was to have attended this
festival during my first trip to the UK this July. No Moby, and about 100+
other bands.

Does this shatter my entire plans for the trip, oh please no. I had
discovered the concert was happening after I had made my plans...now I have
lost something I was looking forward to ALOT.

I'll find something else to do now, but hopefully something musical will
occur in its place.

Thanks to all from thelist who have given me advice on attending festivals,
I guess I'll try next time.

I agree.  I once read an article about Trent Reznor (laugh if you will :)
and he was talking about the importance of samples and mainly obscure
ones.  For instance: he was working with Flood and he (Flood) came to him
with a sample of something Trent discribed as 'someone tapping a pie pan'.
Upon listening again and being told what it was (it was a large group of
African kids running), Trent loved it and was taken aback.  He's used
things such as the sounds of cars crashing, toliets flushing, etc as a
(silly anaology coming up folks...:) brush like one of many used in
painting a musical picture.  I think he does very well on 'Broken' with
the samples of toliets and crashing cars.  It's really a pretty damn good
EP, at least I've always though.  :-)

I think MOBY does an equally good, yet very different job.  His use of
vocal samples is original and is almost not like a vocal bit, but like
another brush, if you will, to paint his picture.  And damn, the picture
always speaks for itself and has it's message as well as being beautiful.

That's a much more eloquant way of putting that I would have.  :-)

I am totally in love with the singer from Blue Bird!!!!  He is just about
the most gorgeous creature I have laid eyes upon.  And, if I'm not
mistaken, he lives some where here in AZ (where I'm at!!! :).  He gave me
his email!!!  OH well, too bad I can't obsess over him....my boyfriend
would get jealous.  :-P

Yeah, it is a fabulous song, but I think it has this misc. feel to it.
There's something about it that just doesn't fit into the mood of
'Everything is Wrong'.  Dunno why, I just feel that way. :-P

well... i bought the revolver single yesterday and i like the remix on that
one.  it's really good.  that's the only remix i've heard so far.

and, yes, i'm back now.  my computer's in the shop (thanks to my dad), so
i'm hoping this will send it with my geocities account (i'm using my
parents' computer).  outlook express can get very confusing.  :)  can't wait
to have my computer back....

anyways, paul, hope that little tidbit helped.  you can successfully remix

Ambient is not much like Little Idiot. Most of the material, with some
exceptions, are like mellow examples of the music Moby was making around
'92. Most of the cuts feature percussion and drum tracks. Stylistically,
it's much closer to the End of Everything than Little Idiot's grand
"orchestral ambience."

Also, there is a song on Ambient called "My Beautiful Blue Sky." But it has
nothing to do with the song "Blue Light of the Underwater Sun," which was a
bside to the Everytime You Touch Me single.

I'll be the only one to say this, because, frankly, I think I'm nuts (there,
I said it first), but most of the remixes I've heard for Revolver to me
sound like the remixes that have come off the last few U2 records, Achtung
Baby in particular. That's not to date them, but to tell you that they sound
like a fusion of rock and techno sounds. Like organic sounding electronic
music or rock with loops and samples. Moby's mixes are particularly
intersting. Both of the mixes I've heard show a STRONG early 80's
electro-pop influence, especially the unreleased "Synth Mix" with the full
lyrics intact and a super catchy synth line.

Remixes of songs by Billy Corgan and Flea (and possibly more by Moby) were
completed and submitted to Elektra who declined to release them. Blame
Sylvia Rhone for being more interested in Hanson to the detriment of every
other artist on her roster.

No, actually it's the UK version of his self-titled album on Instinct. It's
different, too, than the US version. Look thru www.moby.org for detailed
track listings, etc. For practical purposes, yes, the US version could be
considered a debut album, as Moby. For an actual first CD/ full length
release, Instinct Dance, which had four names who were all Moby, was his
"first" release. This is excluding older 12" that became part of Instinct
Dance.

recently released on video called "The Fifth Element" starring Bruce
Willis and Milla Jovovich.  My question is about a certain scene in the
movie that contains cool background music.  It occurs when Bruce Willis
and Milla Jovovich are being chased in the taxi by the police.  During
the chase there is music going on.  I was told by the director of the
movie via email that the piece was composed by the group Moby.  I was
wondering if you could help me identify the name of the piece and tell
me if I can get that piece on CD or cassette.  I would appreciate any

Mine is most definately not German. It's US, Instinct,NY,NY,etc. Yours has
the Tekk mix on it, right? According to the discog, there were 2 CD releases
and one vinyl. I don't know if they all went out of print or just the US
one. But it's the US one turning up at my store. I'm surprised no one has
asked me to get it for them. I guess some treasures stay buried.

as far as i know, the only hendrix sample (at least his voice) is on
'voodoo child' when he says, "it's called 'voodoo child'".
and for newbie caitlin, get the 'everything is wrong' dj mix, also known
as 'mixed and remixed'. it looks like the cover of EIW, but the colors
are like a negative of the original cover, on the border are the words
'mixed!+remixed!+mixed!+remixed!' and so forth, and on the bottom it
says 'non-stop dj mix by evil ninja moby'. i don't know if you got any
good record stores in your area that sells imports, but if you can't
hook up with it, you can order it on-line at mutebank. the address is:

look in the mute catalog and  you'll find it .  that's the stuff to
dance to.

There actually is another Moby track that samples Jimi Hendrix.
It's called "No Buttons To Push". It's only available on the U.S.
12" for Voodoo Child on Instinct.

As far as "Slight Return" is concerned. Moby probably named it that
because if you listen closely it sounds very similar to the original
version of Voodoo Child.

order. i did find some stuff tho, like a Meat Beat Manifesto 12", a
Psychic TV record, and an EBN cd. as well as some weirdo stuff like
Philip Glass and stuff. but no Moby :(
well next time i go there and i check out the computer that says
where everything is, the first thing i'll look for is the Moby cds.
but i have heard that the station for some reason does not have much
music by him, unfortunately. oh well.

Well, I decided to get off my ass and find the 2CD of EIW.  I went a whole 5
steps to my computer and ordered it from Mutebank.  I finally got it about a
month ago (took 5 weeks to get) and I love Underwater.   It's is perfect to
listen to when you are falling asleep.   A CD not to listen to when you are
falling asleep is the comp. Corners Of The Mouth.  The Moby track is good, but
track 6 makes me lose my mind.  Anyway, I think I am done with my Moby
collection, the only CD I want now is the GER Hymn.  I have the Hymn promo on
vinyl but I would like those remixes on CD.

Well after several years I have an extensive collection of Moby CDs, at
least all the US releases, only some imports.  Anyway when I first
discovered moby I went on a search for more of his CDs, but with little
success.  I would find a CD in a certain store and buy it but that would
be all they ha. II shpped as many stores as I have CDs.  But suddenly over
the past fe3w months I have noticed stores getting several of his CDs in a
measurable quantity,(relatively, about 3-5 copies per album)  Now I live
in Nebraska, USA, so maybe it's just a mid-west reagional thing, but it
could be a surgance of moby music that is taking the nation by
storem?!?!?!

what is the availablity of CDs in other areas of the nation? world?

I live in Illinois and have noticed the very same thing. It is slow in pace,
yet steady. I've posted about my store seeming to respond to my purchases
personally, but actually all the stores are paying a little bit more
attention. "Electronica" is growing a larger audience, faster and faster as
time goes by. Although the mainstream media has failed to capitalize on it
and are all but ignoring it for the tried and true moneymakers, the
listeners taste IS being noticed by the retail market. So even though there
is only a quiet, small 'industry buzz', the fact is, there are more of us
everyday. Contrary to popular beleif, there are other acts besides Prodigy
and ChemBros succeeding.

I only have US version.  From what I hear the UK is the better one.
Anyway, I think my favorite on the CD is "You."  It's not much of a song
but whenever I play it I sing along loudly and look like an idiot.

Hoo boy. Fave tracks off the UK version (which is vastly superior to the US
version) are definitely the singles, Revolver, Come On Baby and the UK only
My Love Will Never Die. Little Idiot is all one work to me. I can't pick a
favorite. Favorite remix has to be the unreleased "Synth Mix" of Revolver.

Around here (metro Toronto area) there is virtually no interest.  I
may have mentioned this a while back, but it took us *6* months to sell
a Moby cd at HMV.  Since then we've sold 1 more.  That's it-techno,
experimental, genre-spanning stuff is quite popular in the area we're
located in; Moby just doesn't seem to move.  hehe, pun intended ;)

Black.  The tracks aren't bad, it's just that it's a 13 minute CD.  I

i have a quick question which has had me puzzled for some time, maybe
someone could help.

2 days before the official release of 'into the blue' i managed to pick
up both cd's from a second hand store. they both had the correct
catalogue numbers on according to the postcard received from mute, and
they aren't promos. when i saw the official release two days later,
'shining' on the first cd i had had been replaced by the junior vasquez
mixes.

what happened here? shining is one of my favourite moby tracks, why did
moby/mute substitute it at the last minute?

i like the import and domestic versions of AR about equally, but my
favorite on the import is 'my love will never die', my favorite on the
domestic is a toss-up between 'say it's all mine' and 'alone'. 'every
one of my problems' is my favorite b-side, and i suppose the best remix
is the rollo and sister bliss vocal mix of 'revolver'.
also i do notice that more big-time record stores are carrying the
instinct cds (this is in massachusetts). for instance, at the store i
work at, we carry 'everything is wrong', 'move', 'animal rights', 'i
like to score', 'the end of everything' as well as 'ambient' and 'moby'.

i don't see too many stores carry 'early underground', though, which
seems odd.
that is all.

Here's how I understand it:  Junior Vasquez turned in his mixes kind
of late -- after the ITB singles were made.  The British chart system
imposes some unfortunate restrictions on how much music may be put on
a single, how many formats it may be released on, etc.  So I guess
that if the Junior Vasquez mixes were added to the singles, then ITB
would not be officially recognized as a single.

Mute came up with a good solution under the circumstances.  It took
the CDMute179 singles that were pressed (which included the track
"Shining") and designated them as for-export-only.  When I see an
ITB single here in the US, it is almost always CDMute179.  Then Mute
replaced "Shining" with two of the four Junior Vasquez mixes,
releasing CDMute179A in place of CDMute179.  All three ITB singles
were released (CDMute179, CDMute179A, LCDMute179), but the CDMute179s
just ended up somewhere else to avoid problems.

"Shining" was released the following month by Elektra on the _Disk_
ECD.  It had also appeared on the US _All That I Need Is To Be Loved_
promo CD, which is probably still easily obtainable from someone in
the rec.music.marketplace.cd newsgroup.

I'd have to say that my favorite is Heavy Flow.  It rocks.  Wish I could
understand more of the lyrics, though.

By the by, I've been off of here for a while, due to being
institutionalized (don't ask), and would just like to clarify a couple
of other things in one convenient post.

1)  If Milla Jovovich has an album coming out, I'm buying a copy and
putting it under my pillow at night.  The only person who finds her more
attractive than I do happens to be my wife, so that works out well.

2)  Yes, music should be labeled for convenience in my opinion, but that
doesn't mean the artist has to be.  I'm just saying that, yes,
Blockbuster (or whoever)should have their multiple musical divisions,
and whatever a certain CD fits into, it should be there.  If that's more
than one type, FINE!  Animal Rights could fit into Techno, and with a
stretch, into:
  rock
  heavy metal
  alternative
  industrial
  maybe some others.  The labeling of a certain CD doesn't mean that the
artist should feel restricted to perform solely in that one arena.

3)  Good music (like Moby) speaks to me through emotion.  I loved "Blue
Light of the Underwater Sun", because it spoke so eloquently (even if
the emotions were unhappy ones).  The song made you feel, it achieved
it's purpose.  If only all music could do that.

well... i haven't had much of a problem out here in the southwest (AZ).
although, i did receive a shock.  when i first moved out here, i shopped at
Best Buy because i didn't know any other CD stores in Tucson (and living an
hr outside of Tucson didn't give me much of a chance to look around).  it
pissed me off that the only Moby CDs they had were a zillion copies of AR.
eventually, i learned about Zia Records, where i went big time Moby
shopping.  that's where i go now.  i went back to Best Buy a couple of weeks
ago to buy some computer stuff, and i glanced through the moby stuff and was
shocked to see that they had more than one kind!!!!  i bought the computer
disk CD there.  i haven't been there in a while, so i dunno if that was a
one time thing or not.  it just really shocked me.  so.. maybe things are
picking up at major stores like that.  anyways, that's my rambling on that.

Oh, and Paul, my answer to your poll is on the US version (the only version
i have) 1) Say It's All Mine & 2)Revolver.  hope that helps!  :) and i love
the Rollo & Sister Bliss Vocal Mix of Revolver.

First and formost...welcome to the list Caitlin..Always great to see new
members join this incredible list..Got a great collection started..keep it
up! :)

Now for my "review" of the JBT single(Aus. release):

First the packaging..Nothing tooo special..just a thin cardboard
package..Both sides have the trademark 007 gun barrel.

Now for the "remixes"..I always worry about remixes..sometimes you'll get
ones that sound pretty much like the original(usually not the case with the
better electronic artists)...then there's the ones that have bits and pieces
of the original..but the remixer adds their feeling into it...hopefully
making it better...or you have the case where the remix sounds NOTHING like
the original(Orb seems to love to do this)....Depending on how you feel
about that..it can be a good or bad thing...Now that you know how I feel...I
delve into the songs...

#1 Moby's Main Mix(3:23):  Not a new mix..it's taken right off ILTS...I love
Moby's treatment of it..has a hard edge to it..Love the "wakka wakka"
sound..Love the vid too(Evil Ninja Moby in effect?!)

#2 CJ Bolland's Dubbel Oh Heaven Mix(6:07):  First a low beat starts...15
seconds in a higher(snare?) drum joins in..then the "Bond..James Bond"
sample jumps in 12 seconds after that...cymbal @ 0:42..the song's slowly
building..at 55 seconds the "keyboards/sequencers" start in..building the
song faster and faster..starts to get a really good beat @ 1:20..then from
1:35 till about 2:30 it's a trance feeling..no hard beat..but you can't help
to move...gets quiet again for a few seconds around the 4 minute mark..but a
dark thumping soon gets you going again..And the beat doesn't let up till
the end..Nothing like the original..but a GREAT remix.(side note:  PICK UP
Cj's "Electronic Highway"..reminds me of Moby..a great mix of styles on one
cd(trance, dnb, etc)..some of it pretty minimal...every track feeling
beautiful).

#3 Danny Tenaglia's Twilo Mix(11:57):  I'm always worried about long
mixes...They can sometimes drag on too long(depending on the vein of elec.
music it is)..Not the case here..I'd place it along the lines of trance..a
little too rough to be in the heart of trance..but the song doesn't pick me
up enough to not be along side it.  During the whole song one will
constantly groove..but the beat never allows you go any faster..Has a dark
sinister beat..has both the 007 chorus(played by him)..the Goldfinger
dialogue...and the "B..JB" dialogue as well(tweaked a little)..It's probably
a great way to calm down from a fast hardcore song :).

#4 Moby's Extended Mix(5:50):  I'm always worried about extended
mixes...they rarely bring anything new to the song..it just stretches it
out...But this is Moby..starts out with drums..50 seconds in the "wakka
wakka"  dominates"...then Moby releases his bass on the 007 chorus..very
dark..very sinister..I love it :).  @ 1:27 it starts to feel like the
original somewhat...During the whole song he does incorporate bits and
pieces from the Main Mix..but he puts them in different order..leaves some
bits out.  I've always loved how Moby will stick a string or piano solo in
the middle of a song..and he does it here(fyi:  it's the string solo from
the original)..A great remix...feels like the original..but adds a few new
things to keep it from feeling too much like the original.

#5 Piet Blanc's Da Bomb Mix(7:50):  Piet wastes NO time in getting the beat
going..A great thump that you can't help to start moving your body to...Piet
uses the "B..JB" sample..Around 2 minutes it sounds like he uses the same
sound as the song Bounce(from the group Space Trax..if you have the
Technorave series..you'll know what I'm talking about)..Piet unleashes his
versions of the 007 chorus in this mix..Beat almost never lets up..you're
moving during the entire song.

#6 Danny Tenaglia's Acetate Dub(7:41):  Danny starts this one off with what
sounds like someone beating on big drums..continues for about 30 seconds..To
me it sounds like Danny like to show the evil/sinister side of the 007
song..Dark thumping beats..electronics around F?(whatever it the lower
sounding keys..sorry...I'm not a musician)..Uses the Goldfinger samples(cut
up) throughout...Another trance vein feeling song

#7 Grooverider's Jeep Mix(7:44):  Starts off very ambient..then the
Goldfinger sample comes in("Do you expect me to talk?")..It's getting louder
and louder("Do you expect me to talk?  No Mr. Bond...I expect you to
die")..Cymbals cut in...Then horns..then it turns into a dnb song..I'm not a
big fan of dnb(usually not too interesting to me)..But Groove keeps it mixed
up enough to keep me in the grooove :)...Turns ambient once again around 4
minutes..The Goldfinger samples comes in..Then Groove turns it up a
notch..Brings in funky sounding electronics(sounds much like AFX's
electronics...tweaked beats)

#8 Bonus Beats(2:01):  Not much here..Just the drums Moby used for the Main
and Extended mix

Overall..I'd SUGGEST picking this up..It does have the most tracks out of
all the JBT singles released world wide..A great mix of styles and
remixes...Worth picking up even if you do have to spend $10-12 for
it(luckily I got it for 4 :) )...One question though..has anyone heard the
LSG and Moby's Dance Remix..would it be worth picking up another single for
those remixes?

I hope I've helped people..I'm not a musician or a reviewer..so I'm not the
best at describing cd's...But I realize that not everyone has access to the
Australian release of JBT...Enjoy!

I hate favorite song polls for one reason...It all depends on my mood at the
time..One minute it'll be Moby's hardcore songs..next it'll be his ambient
themes..Anyways..I have the UK version..My fav "hard" songs on AR are:
Soft(A great title and misleading at the same time)..I love Moby's power in
this one..then at the turn of a had..goes....Soft :)...And Revolver(still
want to hear the original though)..The "soft" songs on AR?  Living(A
beautiful track..could almost bring tears to one's eyes)..And Love Song(I
bet Mrs. Hall loves this track..simple..but VERY beautiful)..As for LI..as
Paul pointed out..How can you pick?..Even though a few sound like earlier
tracks..Every track is Moby at his best..I realize a few of you might not
like punk..but I'd seriously think about putting down $20 for LI...Check it
out somehow..and think long and hard :).

obMoby:  "Go" is being repromoted in France.  There is a new one-track
French promo CD called _Go Remix 98'_ (sic) that has the ILTS version
of "Go".  The CD is in a paper sleeve.  A commercial single rerelease
is not planned, to my knowledge.

Well...I'm located in Boise, Idaho..Not a major stopping place for most
electronic acts(hell..whom I kidding..none really :) )...But the local
record store I shop at seems to know their stuff..I've never had any trouble
finding any cd's from electronic acts(Moby, Meat Beat Manifesto, Orb,
Orbital, etc)...They always bring in singles, imports, etc.(heck..I found
both Lopez singles..who but a Moby collector like myself would buy
those?)..If ppl want..I'd be more than glad to post a weekly listing of what
Moby cd's they have..if anyone wants them..I'll snag em for ya...Sorry
though...I'm not giving up my OZ JBT single(which Dan has told me he's going
to post to moby.org..Thanks Dan!) ;>.

So I was checking out the Dance Music Resource
Pages(http://www.ndirect.co.uk/dance/music.htm)...As they say: "These pages
are updated weekly to contain a complete listing of new UK dance releases
and imports..."  They also have a mail order service(can anyone from the UK
comment on Juno Records?)..Anyways..Just to have some fun..I search their
listings for any Moby releases..I did a CtrlF(Find in Page)...put in
Moby..and it found the following:

LIMIT featuring DJ MEMET: Go (trance version of Moby's "Go") (Epidrome

[6.44]) - House

Anyone know anything about this 12"?  There's nothing in the discog about
it..So I figure Moby had nothing to do with it?!  Any help would be

hey thanks to ryan and iceolate, i got two moby cds yesterday, BBMH
and revolver. that controversial revolver single with 4 songs in 13
minutes that ade wasnt completely satisfied with. well, i was very
satisfied with it actually. i thought, how can you go wrong with a
punk classic, a loud nirvana-ish industrial song, another "moby
unplugged" song (possibly also from Double tap? was this ever
released, movie and score?), and then a hip-hoppy song that sort of
reminds me of the band Tortoise? Well i was satisfied with it anyway.

I love how moby's illustrations remind me of the simpsons, which is by
far the best thing that has ever happened to television since its
invention. i am so very fortunate to share the last name of tv's first
family. i was thinking, moby could do a really good animating job on
the simpsons. just for one episode, that would really rock. just for
one scene even. just wondering, does anyone have a favorite simpsons
character? mine are Ralph Wiggum and Cletus the slack-jawed yokel. i
also love it when Bart talks like a 19th century Irish chimney sweep

The NME tape with underworld's Oich Oich on it as well....that version
is easily the coolest rendition of a track Moby's done....

  I have only seen multiple copies of ILTS and AR in the stores i shop
(in the Denver, CO, USA, area. I hope more singles and Mixed and remix
come this way.). I have seen the Mixmag album with him and sven vath on
it in more than one store, but I never have the money to buy it...I will
do it one of these days.

I've heard every official version of "Hymn", and that's not one
of them.  I think I've seen that "castles in the sky" quote posted
somewhere before, though.  Hmmm...

if you want moby's enhanced cd to work, hook up with a mac.  i tried it
on my brother's mac, and it had no problem working.  musicians tend to
prefer macs anyway, so it seems.
for composing and such.
i listened to 'move' for the first time in quite a while. i forgot how
messed up 'morning dove' is. it's eery.lots of strange reverbed-out
sounds.  what's everyone's opinion on this song? it seems to be
under-rated. but hey, that's me.

I agree, "Morning Dove" is underrated.  It's like Moby is constructing
a jungle of sound (no relation to drum & bass music).  Very cool.  It
usually comes as a surprise to me, too.  When I play the _Move_ EP
after a long absence, I don't even think about "Morning Dove".  It's
just a track that's between ATINITBL and "Move (Disco Threat)".  Then
it plays and just makes me jump up onto my feet.  The way it builds
up is just incredible.  I guess I forget how good it is only because
it is outshone by the ATINITBL and "Unloved Symphony".  But maybe I'm
overrating it now.  Instead of deciding how good it is, I'll just do
what I always do:  get lost in Moby's magnificent _Move_ EP.  =^)

AHHHHH!! disneyworld!!!  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!  i still have nightmares
about that place!  i lived in FL for 6 yrs and was forced to go to disney
numerous times.  darn school trips!  universal is much much better.  i'm not
much of a fan of mickey mouse anyways.. besides, i almost got kicked out

like that.  better bring a gas mask or something while down there- all those
fires.  it'll kill your lungs.  <hack hack!>

have fun @ disney, paul.  it's not the happiest place on earth, sad to say.

Heyas Mobites! Tallis, the digest lurker, here. I would like to make
this sound like a sudden need for tapes in an emergency...but it
isn't. I'm just flat out of tapes! Now I never expected have much free
sympathy, so I'm offering my concert/live tapes for a 2:1 trade.

Here's the artists that I do have:

Porno For Pyros, interview+live song


Now for newbies to tape trading a 2:1 means that if you have nothing,
you can trade blank tapes. Now I usually have to be picky about tapes
because of the other traders are REALLY picky! The two tape brands I
can go for are TDK SA Type II 90 min tapes, or Maxwell XLII 90min.
These brands of tapes are a bit pricy because of their great quality,
but if you can find regular tapes in packs, snag 'em(their usually
cheaper).

If you've got something else to trade for..please tell me! If your
interested, please email me directly so we don't waste the lists space.

Now..onto a real Mobility topic:
Moby's new, upcoming single..has anyone heard anything about it??
