So does 'no' mean you don't know what's going on in NY, or
you do know and you just want to be awkward? Not very
original though. Whatever, it doesn't bother me and happy
New Year by the way.

Well, I put Moby Disk into my drive at home last night to see what all the hubbub was about. First of all, it ran almost without a hitch! When I ran moby.exe, the intro screen came up and my mouse cursor disappeared.(it
still worked, I just couldn't see the cursor) I fixed that in my control panel by running a test. There were a few miniscule sound/visual delays during the ETYTM video, but otherwise everything ran very smoothly! It was cool to see all those floating, spinning, bouncing Moby heads in a multitude of colors. I liked the interview portions, I liked the songs and clips. I thought Moby looked ridiculous dancing shirtless during Move (YMMFSG). I liked the stop-motion photography in the Hymn (TIMD) video, when Moby had a city street as the backdrop. Very nice. The remix engine was silly but fun, visually it was loads of fun, but you can't really remix the song, you can only hop back and forth between song segments and add the occasional sound effect on delay, out of proper time. I recommend it to anybody who still uses Windows 3.11 like I do. By the way, this was created with Macromedia, which is still used currently. Marilyn Manson has a video or something on his Mechanical Animals!
CD that's made with Macromedia. It's not listed on the CD or in the liner notes, but my buddy John stumbled accross it. Fiona Apple's last album came with Internet software and an ISP signup thingamajiggy. What's next, I wonder? Moby signature series sound software, fun for the whole family, not tested on animals?
Thanks for all the great information, Paul Simpson! What's with the gpig, anyways?
AJ, the question was this: When a text is translated from English to Japanese, does the amount of space the text occupies increase when it is translated? Somebody thought an import they bought had extra stuff in it becuase the Japanese writing took up lots more space then the English.
Damian, I'm envious of you. Here in Chicago I need to be 21 to even hope to hear Moby in a mixset. Our raves are full of house and jungle, and trance get a little attention, too. But our rave scene sucks, and so does the music, (IMHO), so I'll have to settle for home listening. Maybe when I can hit the club circuit I'll have a positive outlook. I swear, all the small-times who bitch about money-grubbing corporate influence spoiling the scene just want to be that corp. Sorry, had to use that op to rail against local promoters.
Geoffrey, sounds like you have some fun ideas. Are you converting them to a digital format in order to reverse them? Are you making a remix for Thanks II? You should, even if it's just a bizarro reversal lacking flourishes.
Off-topic, but worthy of mention: If you see a comp in your techno/dance section called Freedom: The Sounds Of Zen, and it has a 3D rendering of the Statue Of Liberty and the US flag on the cover, pick it up. It's a 2CD set that I got at Borders for 15.99, and it has Crystal Method, Fatboy Slim, Josh Wink, BT/Sasha, Keoki, Gearwhore, AK1200, Rabbit in the Moon, DJ Icey, and plenty of no-names, many of which whose tracks are far better than the aforementioned big name tracks! (namely Ease Drop, Mariner, Duke Mushroom) Also, offtopic, I ordered Brian Eno's Music For Airports out of curiosity. Anybody out there wanna mail me privately and offer some info on the territory I'm walking blindly into?
Does anybody out there have the Honey double vinyl pack? I haven't seen this listed anywhere. I remember being informed that it would be released, but Mute's Honey page doesn't show it, and neither do many inventory pages at stores I expect would carry it. What's the scoop?

Ok, here is your answer. When text is translated from English to Japanese in
the insert, it is usually printed on a piece of white paper that they just
stick in with the english notes. It says the same stuff, I guess, but wether
it takes up more room is totlly dependant on the size font they use, just as
in english. But, usually, because of kanji, it usually takes a little less
room to write in Japanese than english.
And, by the way, am I the only person who has to scroll for miles horizontally
when reading your messages, (from steve)? Anyway, Later.
I sent a message yesterday, but it looks like I replied to Markus only. I didn't save a copy, so I'm starting over today with some new stuff added on.
Actually, I have the Honey vinyl promos, so I don't need the double pack. I'm just curious because Mute is so bad at keeping their site updated. I found a copy at some internet store, but I've noticed that the single 12" is far more common when it comes to online stores. I'm always browsing stores, so things like this interest me.
Permanent Midnight is so-so. I like the Permanent Theme, which is a dark, moody, trancey thing. The BT song is awesome, the Crystal Method is Crystal Method, the Gomez song is great, and then there's lots of mid-quality stuff and crap. (IMHO) There's one for sale at ebay masquerading as an "Art Alexis Everclear" promo, when in fact it's the soundtrack. It's going for $5, about what I paid for it. Oh yeah, the Honey mix is close to the original version, but has a few small things extended inside the song, a few miniscule bells and whistles added. For instance, the funk/twang guitar lasts all the way until past the end of the original.
Mayday: Judgement Day is a comp with "Ul He Fu", a Moby track which (I'm told) is like a faster, harder "Blue Light Of The Underwater Sun" without the dolphin story and sound effects. I don't have it myself, but I remember Ryu mentioning it a while ago.
Welcome to mobility, Ruben, Markus, and Briton! Briton, Moby's other names include Voodoo Child, Lopez, & DJ Cake, among others. We now have two DropABeats (one at aol, one at hotmail?) I'll have to remember not to confuse you two. Looks like you have a nifty collection, Markus. If you can find me the German Hymn remixes single, I'll trade you one of the original Instinct 12" for it. (that goes for anybody!) I have spares of the mobility 12", and the uhf 12".
Oprah's song is called "Run On", you say? Hmm. Moby's B-side is called Running, which *might* be Running Black Woman. Oprah? Beloved? Nah. What did it sound like? Like Moby at all? Seems rather unlikely to me.
OFFTOPIC STUFF
Paul S., Underworld's next album is spelled 'beaucoup fish', actually, and I've read that they have another triple-song beginning like they did on Second Toughest. It's been likened to Orbital Halycon On+On, so I'm awaiting it eagerly. March and April are going to be big music months for me.
Kelly, Doom Generation is the most fucked up movie I have ever seen. I think it's extremist crap. (extreme bad taste, nothing political) For instance, a 7-11 clerk gets his head shot off of his neck in the beginning and he's still jibbering and screaming when the cops arrive. Yes, just his head, on the ocunter, making noise. Whenever a purchase is made the register alwyas reads $6.66, even if there's shopping carts full of stuff. This is a very small sample of the "jokes" in this movie. Eck.
