I liked John Wayne, but most of westerns weren't really all that good. The
notable exceptions are "The War Wagon" (talk about a good name for a KLR)
with Kirk Douglas and "El Dorado" with James Caan. The Duke was great in
"The Green Berets" and "Big Jake".
Clint Eastwood's spaghetti westerns were also kinda lame, especially "The
Good, The Bad and The Ugly" and "Two Mules for Sister Sarah". He was
awesome in the "Unforgiven".

My choices:
1. "Fistful of Dollars," scene where Clint Eastwood gets to mow down four
dudes who didn't want to apologize to his mule.
2. "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly," the cemetery scene where the
distinction between 'Blondy' Eastwood and the ditch-diggin' Tuco is set.

Hey Bob and Michael, thanks for the heads up with Dual Star. I guess I'll
not only pack lunch but dinner too! I'd much rather give them a few months
(especially since I'm still break-in her in) than end up with two different
versions of the highway pegs. Rushing into things has always cost me more
than waiting.
Thanks again!

My vote for best scene is the nearly 5 minute opening of Once Upon a Time In
the West...with a fly buzzing around Jack Elam while he is waiting for a
train that you finally hear chugging in the distance...
My vote for best one liner is in One Eyed Jacks...where Bob, the character
played by Ben Johnson, urges Kid Rio (Marlon Brando) to go after the friend
who betrayed him (Karl Malden)
Bob says "I'm tired of waiting around...what do you say we just get a bunch
of guys with scatterguns and take hm down and then lets go hit the bank."
Rio, drawls, "thaaat's nooot my style Boobbb..."
This was the only film directed by Brando...because he was the producer he
was able to fire the initial director, Stanley Kubrick...

Dual Star makes highway Pegs? Sure you don't mean Happy Trails?

Okay, okay, okay, already. After thinking long and hard (approx. 3 min.)
I called Tim and he said he'll modify the Moose for $20. more. And it will
fit along with his highway pegs. Plus, his Northwest Rack is very capable
of not only holding the bike upside down but also the Givi bags. Sooooo,
ordered I did and the wait has gone from possible 2+ months to 2 weeks.
Gee, Bob/Michael just when I was being all philosophical and stuff. And
working on my patience...
Yea Kurt, Dual Star stated they're putting together a skid plate that
protects the water pump and either they'll make highway pegs or will get
with Tim. But after getting the word from Bob and Michael the wait is no
more than a few weeks.
Standing by the mail box,
kahiau

helmets. I can't speak about the 28L version though.

... Kahiau, the Givi bags need two "bolt-heads" on the lower
horizontal bar of the rack to hook onto, and a 1.5" wide slotted wedge on
the upper bar to click on. If these are not there on the rack, you can fix
the Givis only if you drill holes and use bolts to fix it. ... not a very
elegant way to do it.
Tim Bernard, are you on the list to explain us exactly what's the situ with
the above mentioned racks? Thanks!
Something else: I saw in a ... catalogue a 42 liter hard plastic saddle
bag, called Q142 Elite made by Bieffe, for $190 Cdn. (I thought Bieffe
makes only helmets and boots?!) Did anybody see/hear of it? if yes, could
the person write some review on it, possibly comparing to the well known
GIVI.
Thanks very much! Cheers,
istvan
