Andy:
I use a Givi #E40 mounted on the Givi mount plate.
Works great. Waterproof, rugged, easy to use.
I would recommend it to anyone.
BTW:
Any Givi Monokey case will fit the mount plate.
Givi has a website.
Thanks.

Skip,
I appreciate the offer very much and I think that would be a great idea.
I just want to say for the record that although I think the idea of a
Canadian Rally would be awesome - I don't have time to be the Head Honcho of
such an event. I would however, be happy to be a part of the organizing
committee and support this event as much as I can.
Why don't the interested Canadian riders contact me off list and I'll put a
small mailing list together. I'll put you on the list as well Skip so you
can give us your 2 cents about rides in your area.
As a side note although Canmore/Banff where I live is stunningly beautiful -
its a National Park and riding offroad is limited unless you are on a mtn
bike and even then its still not unrestricted. Brian B's comment about
riding in the interior of British Columbia is a good one as he knows the
area and there are lots of legal/fun DS rides. I think Brian B may have
already volunteered for the trailmaster job...=)
Cheers,
Vik

I bought the pro rally hand guards, the kind with the aluminum bar in
them. It took a little fiddling with the rest of the handle bar
components, but when all was done everything fit fine. I've smacked a
few branches and had the bike fall over a couple of times and they've
held up just fine. They were a little steep in price, but I don't think
I'll have to buy another pair ever.

Bought my '89 FLHS Electra Glide Sport when you could walk in to a HD
dealer and pick out a bike and ride away on it. Ten years, 65K miles and
counting. I wonder if I'll hold on to the KLR that long. Will parts be
available
for my A12 ten years from now? Is it reasonable to expect that the bike
last
that long when I'm putting 10k miles/year on it (provided I replace internal
chains, sprockets and bearings)?

Me too, but platinums. NGK seems to be the most commonly stocked by
the bike shops I've been to lately. There used to be Denso plugs
stocked as well, by not as much lately for some reason.
I've bought a DP8EA-9 to compare to a DP8EV-9 (platinum) on the dyno
some time.

The first law of spark plugs.
It's been a while since we've bagged Splitfires, too.

installed base and the volume of parts demand. You can still get lots of
parts for Model T Fords. Just try getting parts for a 1949 Mercury or '73
Z1-900 or anything with low production numbers. Pricing on available parts
is also a consideration. You can (perhaps) get an OEM wiper arm for a '59
Mercedes Benz if you want, but guess what you'll pay? This weeks' paycheck
might not be big enough. My guess is parts will be available, "reasonably
priced" for the KLR a long time. Long term parts availability was one of my
considerations in choosing the KLR.

In my experience, for a 6 cylinder car you'd have to buy 7 or 8 plugs
because 1 of them would be dud out of the box.
Maybe they've got better since, but I've haven't seen a bike shop
that stocked Champion bike plugs.
