  588. kill about a thousand elk because of 'wasting disease', similar to mad cow
  589. disease.
  590.     That's sad, bad news. Hope their efforts are successful in eliminating

  605. Subject: MtMan-List: Laura Glise Update

  607. I heard from Laura Glise twice this weekend.  She is doing tolerably well
  608. and is back at her school working in the media center.....the library to
  609. us......  She is undergoing a chemotherapy regime that is many time rougher
  610. that she had to endure earlier this year.  She is coping, but the chemo is
  611. pretty challenging.  The school has made whatever accommodations are
  612. necessary to enable her to continue work.  I don't know what the
  613. accommodations are but this school is being a good employer.  Last spring,
  614. when LJ had to spend so much time in the hospital, the other employees at
  615. the school donated their sick pay to LJ so she didn't have to miss a single
  616. paycheck.  Not bad.
  617. She was scheduled to return to Duke U. Hospital last week for an evaluation
  618. but had to postpone it due to the shutting down of the airlines after the
  619. WTC attack.  She will reschedule later.....I don't know when. (By the
  620. way....the events of 9-11-01 were damn sure NOT a tragedy....it was a damn
  621. ATTACK.  I'll be glad when folks get that right!!  Off the soapbox now)
  622. She sounds good and is in good spirits, as always.  I have never heard
  623. anything negative from her about this whole ordeal.  Except not being able
  624. to travel to Texas in April.  She was counting on some good Texas BBQ from
  625. Kreutz's Market in Lockhart.  (FYI...that place may indeed have the best BBQ
  626. in Texas)
