Steve,
All you gotta do to have good coffee, is on the first =
day of rendezvous,
1. get about 4 handfuls of ground coffee in your pot with =
some water. 2.
Then put it on the fire. 3.When you have finished drinking =
all the coffee
you want just add some more water and more coffee into the =
pot and return to
fire. DO NOT CLEAN COFFEE POT. 4. Repeat steps 1.-3. all day =
every day until
last day of rendezvous. 5. On the last day of rendezvous, =
pour yourself a
perfect cup of this power coffee and you will amaze yourself =
how fast you
can pack all your gear and get home!!!

Hello the list!
I stopped by Ft Vancouver and got the low down on the encampment. It is
always held on the 3rd weekend of July and they reenact the Hudson's Bay
Company trappers returning from the winter hunt. Guess they gotta sloop and
mabbe a bateau that put in up river and make a float. A bunch of free
trappers would fit in with that doins...if ya don't mind campin with Torries.
The only problem I see would be trying to get yer gear across Hwy 14 and some
RR tracks without gittin kilt...
Iffin ya make it, there's a great place to camp in the apple orchard where
that fella Johnny pitched his first seeds...

chocolate-covered variety of coffee beans this year for Christmas.

Hello the List. I'm looking for another blanket for my bedroll, to use
during the winter, 'in-tent' so weight is not a factor. Any input on Hudson
Bay vs. Whitney vs. Pendleton, as well as sources for blankets, would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help. Barn.

Barn,
I live about 65 miles from Pendelton Mills and have bought a lot of
Pendelton blankets over the years. For my money they just do not measure
up to Whitney or HB for warmth. I'm not sure what they do differently
but they are not as warm for the weight. If you ever wanted to carry
them for a trek you'd have to carry twice the weight and that gets old
real quick.
They are cheaper when you can find what you want. I guess for in the
lodge they would be ok but would require two to provide the same warmth
as one Whitney or one HB. You can get them for a quarter or half the
price of the other two brands if you can get to a mill and look over
their seconds. That is what we have done in the past. But now I just buy
Whitneys and let it go at that. My two cents. I remain.....
YMOS
Capt. Lahti' Barn.
