Subject: (hats) viewing resolution
To all:
This question is only partly hats related, but here goes: I've been
thinking of creating my own MWH page at some point. I've always used a
monitor resolution setting of 640 x 480 when designing my web pages, but
I've recently had several people tell me that I ought to start
formatting them for proper viewing at a resolution of 800 x 600, since
that is now allegedly the most popular "viewing standard". If that's
the case, I want to create my hats page, as well as others, at the
higher resolution. I'd much appreciate any advice that the list's other
web authors could offer on this matter.

i use 1024x768 on my iMac (15" screen) but a higher res on the BigMac's
21". Go with the highest res you can - more people will enjoy the res!
My current wallpaper is a huge hats logo - downloaded from the current
'fav' hats site... Just wondering where to send the royalty too!!

Subject: (hats) I found a MWH poster! (kind of)
Hi everyone,
I was in a record store (where they sell 45s) yesterday and came across one
of "O Sole Mio". It had a picture sleeve and it said "Limited Edition
Fold-Out Picture Pack". The sticker on the sleeve of the record (the little
bag the store keeps the 45 in to protect it from any damage) says "Last
copy" but I don't know if that means the last in the world or just in the
store :D Anyway, I guess this comes close to being a genuine MWH poster.
The picture is interesting. It reminds me of one of U2 albums (the one
where their faces are close-up, the black bars on top and bottm of the
picture). The picture is in black and white and everyone is standing on the
roof of a building. Everyone is at different distances from the camera. From
left to right: a smiling older man playing the accordian (kind of reminds
me of the picture of Ivan's father on one of the websites), a person who
appears to be the little guy in the Saftey Dance video (he looks like Ivan a
bit!) complete with the t-shirt but wearing a bandana, jeans, and jacket
liek Ivan. Followed by Bruce Murphy with violin then the Jenny persona (the
older one), le Bonhomme (no drums), Ivan holding a baby, Stefan wearing the
Freeways concert t-shirt under his white jacket, a little girl (I guess it's
the younger "Jenny") in a ballerina costume, then a toddler then another guy
(I guess it's Colin?). No one is looking in the same direction (although,
most are wearing sunglasses or a big bonhomme head!). I can scan this for
anyone who would like a copy.
When folded, on the back of the picture sleeve are the lyrics and a balck
and white picture of Ivan. The front has a really big O. I guess it's a
play on the usual no hats logo without the slash and hat guy. B-side is
"Lose My Way".
====
I was in Tower records yesterday and picked up a copy of their free magazine
and saw a page ad by Oglio Records (hi Carl!). Tina Louise made an
album?!!??!?! For those who don't recognize her name, she played "Ginger"
on "Gilligan's Island".

I guess the above sounds pretty vague to anyone who hasn't heard CD9 yet. Let
me elaborate. The 21st Century promo single contains an interesting little
number (8, to be precise), which is a little snip of Ivan explaining why he
dropped the hats logo. He says it gives off a negative energy similar to that
of a NO PARKING sign. He goes on to mention that we get far too many of these
negative vibes everywhere we look. (Hmmm, someone should write a song about
signs being everywhere saying do this and don't do that and can't you read the
sign.........naw, it'll never work.) Furthermore, he goes on to tell us that a
group of racist Jamaicans are now using the hats logo (or a reasonable
facsimile) to ban Rastafarians from certain establishments. Rastafarians are the
Jamaican residents with African ancestry. That use of the hats logo was the
final straw and Ivan will never use the symbol again, end of discussion.
Where does that leave us devout MWHer's who have for so long been blinded by
this crazy evil logo. It really sounds like Ivan strongly believes that the
whole logo thing was a big mistake on his part and wishes he never used it in
the first place. Now, I think about all those times I proudly displayed it in
public and wonder how many African Jamaican's I've offended or perhaps put some
poor suicidal soul over the edge because he/she saw one too many "DON'T DO THAT"
signs.
Gee, Ivan, we were only dancing if we wanted to....no harm in that. Is there?
Senz
p.s. to my knowledge, moose has nothing against Rastafarians and nor do I
