Francis, you can't be surprised that Ivan is aiming his work toward a mature
audience these days.  Sideways wasn't kiddy stuff and nor is The Spell.  Don't
forget Ivan sang about strippers and lesbians in Superbadgirls (wait 'til you
see the video). Yes, it may be sad in a way that he isn't filling concert
halls lately but maybe he doesn't want to. Remember, Ivan is not the type to
be staying in one niche for too long.  He is always evolving and is taking us
on a rather interesting ride.  Listen to his lyrics to understand the man, not
some snide comments he made on a talk show where some fake-pro-wrestler's
boisterous fake personality is literally taking over the show!  Ivan was
ripped off because the very next episode had mature people discussing real
issues in a mature and respectable way. Something I'm sure Ivan was hoping
for.

I see "where do the boys go" has many interpretations.  The images
are strong but there aren't really that many words to sort out.

I've always thought the song was about school. "We walked around
in circles singing, whohuhoh", "our heads were filled with things
that didn't matter anyway".  Sometimes Ivan steps into the teacher
persona and says things like "okay, third time, everybody sing ...".

Even though the song is about "boys", I've never seen a gender
angle in it (as in so many other hats songs).

I receive a lot of messages.... NOOOO Ivan will not be in a strip join....
(Not as a public appearance as far as I know).

I'm just a little bit discourage because I putted to much efford for our
private show and the guy (Ivan) doesn't want to be very cooperative for THE
REAL FAN.

So, If he doesn't want to recognize the people who follow him all his public
life in the good and the bad moments, he doesn't need my support for his solo
carrier.

Sorry, that's how I feel.

Maybe asking him to perform has been the wrong approach all along. After all,
when you ask someone to do something you must be prepared for any answer. We
can't have that!  Say, doesn't he have a daughter?  Maybe we should kidnap her
and threaten him to sing the way we want or else.  I've heard that bamboo
splinters under finger nails can also be very persuasive!  Any other suggestions?

Charlotte: you are right.  From what I have gathered, Ivan is
divorced with no kiddies; Sahara (a perfect little angel-child!!) is
Ivan's niece (Colin's daughter).

Steve:  I know you meant that as a joke, because I have known you
for some time and I know that you are very sweet and have a wild
sense of humor.  However, Ivan is very concerned about stalkers and
the like, because apparently he knew Selena, the Tejano singer who
was killed by her fan club president.  So, that wasn't funny.

And a general comment to everyone, from Laura the Killjoy: Remember,
even when Ivan doesn't have email access, which he hasn't for a
while, there are other band members who do, and they fax him over
some of the more interesting tidbits from the list.  Let's keep it
polite, please!  I know we are all very disappointed that it is
becoming less and less likely that we will get our "musical book
signing," but I don't think that sniping or attacking is the mature
way to go here.

I was just using a little sarcasm to make a point. Nothing else!  :-)The truth
is, I have no interest in Ivan's personal life (which is why I fell asleep
when reading about Sahara). I have a feeling that Ivan would rather not have
us look at his private life with a microscope.  And whether he goes to strip
bars, paints his toenails pink, or has a huge tattoo of "Mommy" written across
his chest, it doesn't interest me. I only care about his music, which I find
is outstanding in it's complexity and honesty. (And certainly I look forward
to more!!)

Thank you, Laura, for explaining my post.  I was kind of at a loss for words
when I saw that Michelle thought I was serious.  I really wasn't expecting
that and I'll be more careful next time!

Hi all!

I finally did it sorry. Sorry for the delay. I digitalised some pictures from
various TV appearances of the main man (Ivan). The job was mainly done for
Steve Enz (so help yourself man) but since I figured several of you may want
some of those images, I thought the easiest way to make them available was to
put them online. Take as many as you want and do whatever you want with them.
If this thing is popular enough, I may put stills from each Men Without Hats
and Ivan videos.
