  28. Hey, was that a tumbleweed I saw?  Slow times on the old GC list.  =
  29. Anyway, I've been reading the Dread Empire books.  I'd been saving them =
  30. for a rainy day (having read the BC books twice, the Garrett books once, =
  31. and most of his one-offs), and finally got around to them this week.  =
  32. They're a bit rougher than I expected, especially at first, though by =
  33. "All Darkness Met" Glen seems to have hit his stride.

  35. Like a lot of people before me, I'm enjoying Mocker quite a bit.  As I =
  36. read, I like to "hear" the characters speak, and I was wondering how you =
  37. all hear him.  I started hearing him with an Indian (i.e., Indian =
  38. subcontinent, not Native American) accent, and ever since I can't shake =
  39. it.  When you read the books, what does he sound like in your head?

  116. Steve,  that's a good take on it.  Maybe that will help me shake the Indian
  117. accent I keep hearing.  He is a great character--for me by far the most
  118. memorable of the series (three books in, that is--I might change my mind
  119. later on).

  154. includes the first three Garrett stories), and Garrett, P.I., which covers
