I finished the book but missed a couple of things.
Who is Chodo Contague's daughter?
What happened to Carla Lindo Ramada?

1. at the time this was written, Contague's daughter was just
that,'contague's daughter.' she didn't have a name; her only function was to
demonstrate chodo's (flawed) humanity for the shock of it (Garrett had no
idea chodo was capable of human feelings). she does appear in a later book
and becomes a recurring character in the series.
2. My impression was that she got away and disappeared.

A really nice gal that you get to know much better in later books.

well, what you think might happen to a single female with no protection
heading out into the woods? In a land with many not so nice people in it?

I think she made friends with the cute fuzzy bunnies that live in the
forest and spend all day dancing and singing and playing games.

Okay, finally getting around to reading these. I am one of those rare lucky
Cook fans who came upon him late in life (sort of), so I have all his books
(with two unnotable exceptions). Anyway, this will be my first trip through
these books, so far I can't wait for the POV character to get a little older.
I don't mind kids-growing-into-their-power books, I'm just sick of childish
viewpoints. I prefer adult situations dealt with by adults, but on the bright
side I trust Cook enough to know he'll pull it off.
It's a little disconceting to be reading about a basically bronze-age culture
that also seems to have some elements of space-flight, but that another
thing altogether. I'm on page 60 so far (of book one).

I take it the was supposed to be a joke. Well, let's don't argue, and wait
for the person to show up again.
