  5. I'm tall so this example is not for everyone.  I'm 6'4".  I have three sisters.
  6. The shortest is about 6'.  The tallest is about 6'2".  They all weigh about 120 lb.
  7. at the heaviest.  I weigh 200-225 lb.  I imagine Winger to weigh about 275 or more
  8. (all muscle).  Another example of someone similar is Chyna of WWF fame.  I still
  9. picture Winger to be bigger than Chyna.

  182. Tate crew burst into Garrett's office.  If I remember correctly, Cook =
  183. describes them as a minature 'army'.  Hence the fact the artist threw in =

  481. I had a fair amount of trouble finding Cook's books, but stumbled on a
  482. strategy that worked--ended up filling my whole collection in one go (minus
  483. SUNG IN BLOOD and FIRE IN HIS HANDS).  I was buying them off eBay one at a
  484. time.  Every time I bought one, I asked the seller whether he/she had any
  485. other Cook books.  After just a few tries, one of them said, "Sure, I've got
  486. them all."  I bought one copy of each one I didn't have for $5 each, free
  487. postage.  Don't know if this helps anybody out, but it's worth a try if
  488. you're having trouble finding things.

  490. Of course, I ended up blowing $20 on FIRE IN HIS HANDS last week to complete
  491. my collection, but cumulatively, not a bad deal.

  1161. I'd like to recommend the author Guy Gavriel Kay.  I am currently reading 
  1162. his book, The Lions Of Al-Rassan, and I love it.  Very gritty, realistic 
  1163. characters, complex plot.  Just a good story.  It reminds me very much of 
  1164. Cook's work, but remains unique in it's own right.

  1272. Kay is outstanding.  My favorite by him is A song for Arbonne.  Very good
  1273. read.  The Fionavar Tapestry trilogy is outstanding too, and so is Tigana.
  1274. Can't go wrong with any of them.

  1277. series...similar feel.

  1285. his book, The Lions Of Al-Rassan, and I love it.  Very gritty, realistic
  1286. characters, complex plot.  Just a good story.  It reminds me very much of

  1429. Mosaic' (Sailing to Sarantium and Lord of Emperors) is
  1430. freakin' amazing! It really blew me away! I love all
  1431. of his stuff, but I think the Mosaic is his best work
  1432. to date. If you like High Fantasy, start with Fionovar
  1433. Tapestry, otherwise start with Tigana (my second
  1434. favourite). Save Sarantine Mosaic for last (save the
  1435. best . . .)

  2031. different perspectives and both groups hit some of the same tourist
  2032. attractions.

  2034. The short answer is it doesn't matter which book gets read first.

  2036. I'd make a case for saving the Silver Spike for second, since it does
  2037. have some impact on the other. If I remember correctly I read them
  2038. in publication order, but I've sense gone back several time and read
  2039. them both way, and even once read the at the same time (chapter
  2040. of one, chapter of the other, repeat).

  2844. done to date.  Although other books in the series are also done well.. 
  2845. Black Company seems like it has more of a "point" ot it than the rest of 
  2846. the books.  The characters in the black company seem to grow and develop 
  2847. more in that book than any other.

  3891. For me, I think I like "An Ill Fate Marshalling" best.
  3892.  
  3893. "An Ill Fate..." is to the Dread Empire Series what "The Empire Strikes
  3894. Back" is to Star Wars.   In it we learn that our heros are not only
  3895. imperfect... but also maybe not as even as good as we thought they were.
  3896.  
  3897.   Cook uses the motivation of love better than most authors ever manage
  3898. to.  He shows how little things can become a monkey wrench in the gears
  3899. of our lives.  He renders his characters with actual fears and
  3900. weaknesses... and I love every moment of it.

  3903. "Tower of Fear" and "Black Company" get honable mention.
  3904.  
  3905. "Tower of Fear" for the almost Dickian sense of empathy created with the
  3906. characters.
  3907. "Black Company" is simply one of the best works of millitary fantasy
  3908. done to date.  Although other books in the series are also done well..
  3909. Black Company seems like it has more of a "point" ot it than the rest of
  3910. the books.  The characters in the black company seem to grow and develop
  3911. more in that book than any other.

  4123. whole lot to choose from...), closely followed by _Sung in Blood_, which
  4124. I have a perverse fondness for.  Single non-standalone novel, a tossup
  4125. between _All Darkness Met_ and _Shadowline_ (although _Shadowline
  4126. *almost* stands alone), closely followed by _Old Tin Sorrows_.
