  250. printers listed but I miss the HP Deskjet types. I own a Deskjet 850c =
  251. and I have found that with WinFract this works OK. But with FractInt =
  252. itself this does not work. When I try PaintJet I get some distorted and =
  253. striped printout and with LaserJet I only get a Black/White print. Is =
  254. there any way to get Deskjet to print with FractInt?

  318. Your best bet is to use a Windows graphics program to print your images.
  319. FractInt's printing support isn't really designed to handle a large variety
  320. of printers.

  345. paying 30-50% of what I'm worth, but it beats unemployment
  346. (barely!) .  Oh, and a Web database volunteer project for 
  347. SFSU/CPEO (anything to get my mitts of a UNIX server), 
  348. and continuing the search for a better job.

  351. *me* being this busy).  If you want to see how *really* busy 
  352. it is (about as busy as I am), try changing or rotating the palette!

  696. into.  There's no way I could provide for that.  But I'm glad you

  763. There are a few things I forgot to mention about this formula when
  764. I posted it last night.  There are several things you CAN'T do with
  765. the image, including: zooming in, rotating, moving it in any direction,
  766. and in general, anything that changes the location of any part of the
  767. image on the screen.  This is because I had to "hard code" in location
  768. info for the four images in statements like:
  769.  
  770.     w = 2 * (pixel + (1,0.75))
  771.  
  772. which work only for the area in the complex plane of
  773. real(w) = -2 to 2 and imag(w) = 1.5 to -1.5.
  774.  
  775. Note to developers: it sure would be nice to have the corners info
  776. or the center-mag info available to formulas (it's not, is it?).
  777.  
  778. The things you CAN do with the formula include: changing the Julia
  779. set coordinates, changing the size factor for any of the four
  780. Julias, and changing the colormap.
  781.  
  782. The reason I wrote this formula was to see what was possible to
  783. do using some of Fractint's builtin formula variables (scrnpix
  784. and scrnmax) that I've never used before.  I will probably be
  785. playing around with crazy formulas like this one a little more.

  940. combines a variation of an extremely versatile formula - Bud
  941. Christenson's Gravijul - with one of Paul Carlson's coloring methods,

  1103. Some people have suggested that Sylvie and I collaborate on a
  1104. formula.  Well, this is as close as we've gotten to doing that
  1105. so far.  The formula below is my Four_Julias formula to which
  1106. Sylvie has added some zooming capabilities.  Sylvie began by
  1107. suggesting to me how I might add zooming to the formula. I tried
  1108. her suggestions but couldn't get them to work.  The problem was
  1109. that I was trying to zoom in on a portion of the upper-left
  1110. Julia, hoping that the portion in the zoom box would then be
  1111. dislayed in all four quadrants.  I told Sylvie that I thought
  1112. zooming was impossible without knowing what the pixel coordinates
  1113. of the zoom box are.  As it turns out, I was both right and
  1114. wrong.  I was right for the type of zooming I was trying to do,
  1115. but as this formula demonstrates, a certain type of zooming
  1116. is possible.

  1118. I think it's really something that Sylvie could accomplish this
  1119. by adding just 9 lines of code and changing 4 more!
  1120.  
  1121. To use zooming with this formula, you have to mentally expand
  1122. one of the quadrants to fill the whole screen and then zoom
  1123. into that expanded image (does this make sense?).  In other
  1124. words, you are not going to get what you see inside the zoom
  1125. box.  But try it - it's not that difficult.  The pars
  1126. 4juls_z3 and 4juls_z4 were done this way.  The first two
  1127. pars are identical to those in the original formula.
