For all those who have congratulated me,
First of all, vielen Dank! Es fuehrt mich, dass ich vielen Freunden habe.
(excuse my german... I'm almost sure I botched the endings.) For those
who dont' have a clue what I said, thanks anyway. It please me that I
have so many friends.
Being legally deemed a U.S. citizen is certainly great, but it hasn't been
that big a deal. I've been a "American"--that is socially,
philsophically, and politically, since forever ago. I've spent over 50%
of my yet-short life within U.S. borders! The essence of American
citizenship isn't its legality anyway. Being the third child in my family
to get a citizenship, the magic has somewhat worn off. I probably could
have passed the test 6 years ago...
I guess it would a great time to celebrate, but I really don't have time.
I have a double-major with honors to complete and fractals to see...
Otherwise, I just might take a breath and contemplate the whole situation
for few seconds.
Busily being calm and collected,
Jiho

Actually, I don't mind attachments, as long as you paste the pars into
the main body, too.

I have to connect to a mail server and use PINE to read my email, and it
can't handle attachments at all. So I would also prefer seeing the pars
in the body of the message.

I use Pine 3.96, and it handles attachments fine. It isn't as easy as
just reading email, though. I have to type 'V1|cat' to see attachment
1, for example.

Hi Jon,
I've had a quick look at your fractal page and I like what
you've done so far. The page access seems reasonably quick (from here
anyway), and it is nicely laid out. The links to other sites and
your program index is a little thin, but I'm sure that you will
fill this out.
Cheers,

More of same then.
I've just printed julia_petals2 on Epson Photo Quality
Ink Jet Paper using an HP 870Cxi. The result is quite
stunning and shows the marvellous backlit 3D effect
which appears on the screen.
As soon as I've saved up enough to buy another sheet
of paper I'm going to try Spheres Spirals :)
I look forward to every post headed "Comment" and add
my warmest congratulations

Subject: (fractint) Newton Stalks Formula
I know I said I'd slow down the posting of these formulas,
but once I finish translating one from my old code, I have
to post it or I'll forget about it (and probably lose it).
And I have to do them when I have the free time, which
seems to come in spurts. Anyhow, here's another. Enjoy!
I just read all the comments about my Five Method formula.
Thanks everybody!
comment {
This formula applies my 3D Stalks rendering method to
Newton's solution of (w*w-1)*(w*w+c)=0. The first three
pars are for images that I originally did several years
ago. The three midget images are new, created while I was
testing this formula. Midget1 has a very nice texture.
The gold_tiara looks to me like something an ancient Egyptian
princess might have worn. Contrails is interesting - it looks
sort of like an aerial view of something.

Can you send the address to the Les St. Clair site please?
My inexperience moving the formula by Paul... "Tan_Spirals" is producing

It might be goof for me to see it again at an other place to try to figure out

Hi- the formula for Tan_Spirals was afflicted with
the dreaded =3D disease, where the mailer or something
inserts 3D after every = sign, and then that also makes some
lines too long and you have line wrap problems where lines are
split without \ at the end of the line, and then it likes to put in
another = at the end of the line. There's been a lot of discussion of
this and even I sort of understand it now.
If you really want to follow it I can send you
some of the old posts. Here's a re-post of Wizzle's
without the = 3D. (But mine is afflicted with the not-as-dreaded
double spaces- just remove the double spaces.)

It actually seems to be a function of the receiver's system, since I did
not have any trouble with this or any other of Paul's formulas, and I have
as primitive a system as is out there - does no encoding, decoding,
HTMLing (my favourite PITA these days doubling message size and all) or
any of those other things. I have rarely had any of the format problems
folk have reported on the list, so I doubt that the problems are in the
sending.

Is there way to make a variable of the symmetry? It may be nice to be
able to change it if your formula changes while changing other functions

Btw, has anyone ever tried to run fractint under windows NT? Have you
ever run into any problems? I sometimes have trouble switching to higher

Subject: (fractint) A new approach for my web site
You are invited to visit my web site at
http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Studios/1450/ If you have visited in the
past, you will find that I've shifted my focus from the IFS4 screen saver
to some experimentation with Fractint. (The screen saver is still there,
but it now takes second billing.)
In one section of the gallery I have good intentions to make changes on a
frequent basis. I like to share my creations with the folks at work, so
I've taken to posting a fractal outside my office each day. It sometimes
draws people in to comment on it and I get some feedback on whether my
intent is getting across. I have hung last week's door-postings in the
web-gallery. It is an interesting experience to try to come up with
something new to share each day. So far I've experienced a few anxious days
where I've had to go back to some oldies. I'm still having fun doing it, so
until it becomes 'work' ...
Anyway, I hope you find something of interest at the site. I'm trying to
find an approach that's uniquely mine, but so far it seems a bit scattered.
